Space Gray Model X after Chrome Delete

I had mine done professionally, and honestly they did a terrible job in places. The place does nothing but wraps and it’s like they’ve never done a car with folding mirrors before. I literally took delivery, drove it home and when the mirrors folded, I almost lost my *sugar*. the idiots pout wrap...

So, got a random recall text from Tesla service yesterday...

Number was 231-819-xxxx for me (out of my area code) but it’s the same number that had confirmed my pervious appt, so they were already in my address book. Jim, I do not have the bulletin/advisory numbers, sorry.

So, got a random recall text from Tesla service yesterday...

Sorry, I should have mentioned that. It’s a late (October) 2018 MX 75D with AP 2.5 and MCU 2.

So, got a random recall text from Tesla service yesterday...

BTW, this was legit - same number that confirmed my last appointment. Tesla: Sir,This is Tesla virtual service, There are several non safety related recalls that can be performed on your Model X. Would you like to schedule them? Me: No recalls are listed for my VIN on Teslas site. What are the...

Tesla changed the center bore on their wheels?!

Ask where the wheels were sourced. They’re more than likely knockoffs from china (ebay). You can see dozens of these “turbine style” wheels offered there and they are NOT safe. You are lucky they didn’t fit, frankly because if they did, you’d probably be riding on wheels that are vastly...

    Squeaky Windows

I’ve recently got a tint and mine started squeaking. Some say use silicone spray and some even say WD-40, but both of those sound like messy options. I ordered some dry graphite in a spray can and will let you know if it works (well, short-term at least).

Who is getting a Tesla Cybertruck

I put down a day 2 deposit because for $100 who really cares, right? As to whether I’ll buy one, and as a current X owner, I kind of doubt it. The specs and price are great, but the sheer size combined with the styling are seriously weighing on me. Good thing we all have a couple years to...

    MCU Yellow Border - Fixed!

This pretty ridiculous. They pass this tool (or tools) around to random service centers, they don’t have any system on place to notify you when yours may have it, and they cancel any appointments made if they don’t. Are we all just supposed to make random service appointments at random intervals...

Need assistance on X Wheel sizes

18 X owner here. Can confirm that we’ve got 9.5 rear, no longer 10s. However 10’s will absolutely fit as well as long as the offset is ~35.
  15. V

Model X - worth buying now

My only regret so far is that my MCU screen has the dreaded yellow border after just 20K miles (late 2018 MCU2) with no fix under warranty in site other than vague promises about a UV curing tool that MAY get around to my service center some day. I still have no regrets and will do it again in...

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

This just happened to my late 2018 MX. and I mean JUST appeared. Screen was fine yesterday, and today (coincidentally right after upgrading to v10), there’s a very pronounced yellow border around the MCU. Put in a service request along with a picture, but I guess I should expect a call any...

20 inch Model X OEM Tires, Wheels and TPMS -$1200 - NoVA/Wash DC

Just FYI, 22” don’t make great winter rims. If you’re in NoVa you might want to seriously consider keeping those 20’s for winter swaps.

Pictures of midnight silver metallic 'after tinting'

Wait, I’m confused. Wouldn’t 35 front/45 back mean your front windows are darker than your rear windows? From the photos it looks like you mean 45 front 35 back? Also, why would you tint the back windows? Or are you saying the stock tint is 35%

Question along similar lines pertaining to the 20” rims. I believe the factory 20s are 9” front and 9.5” rear, whereas the TS 20s are specced at 9” and 10” respectively. The factory tires still fit within safe margins? Vely

Highly recommended to use PIN for extra Security

I use a PIN 100% of the time primarily because I don’t trust my kids. A woman apoarently recently sued Tesla because her car “drove into her.” Of course this was a lie and Tesla diagnostics revealed her kid had actually been in the car and managed to shift into drive, but the point is you can...

    Price and Model changes

Looks like my FSD option (2018 X) has been updated to reflect the new pricing @3K post-purchase (previously 5K). Not going to complain about that, but OTOH I see no reason to preorder until some of the real FSD/HW3 stuff is in the wild.

    Lost heating after SW update

My 2018 X with 7.5K miles lost the heater last week. 20 degrees outside and they wanted me to wait until April for a service appointment 309 miles away. I was like, yeah that’s not happening. Finally got them to agree to send out a mobile tech, who contacted me, said he diagnosed the issue and...

    Breaking customer promises

Hmm, not really seeing any ambiguity in that text. They promised him free supercharging on any new S/X he buys, and they’re clearly not honoring it. I’d be curious if this was ever a widespread promo, or if this was a one-off promise, though. Seems crazy to offer something like this at scale...

Do I even own this car?

Ugh, sounds horrible. Have you tried using the escalation team via your car’s management page? You should definately be speaking to the escallation team at this point, not a DA or OA. On the fence...

I'm replying because our situation is very similar. I actually owned a 2017 XC90 Momentum (purchased at the tail end of '16). "Nice" car, but no comparison. We leased it for a couple of years and because we'd recently moved to a new city, quickly found out we were burning through miles 30% too...

    Soundproof/soundeaden MX

People have done it to S, but sadly there's not a lot of info. What you'd want to do is use sound deadening material like Dynamat and apply it to all the door panels, wheel wells, and ideally, the floor itself. It's a lot of work and probably best left to auto specialists, but DIY would save a...

Horrific Delivery Experience - Delivery Refused

Yes, he said it was Fremont. What shatters my brain the most was that it was empty. Don't they um, have work to do? Maybe a few dozen M3 deliveries per hour or something? I'm really starting to think the stress is getting to those people and they're trying to cry out for help, in their own...

Just got a loaner S with AP1. It is still better than AP2.5

Darwinism aside, the issue with the current system is one of mechanical disparity between drivers. A "technique" that keeps the system happy is not easy to establish or maintain because everyone drives differently. Further, "holding" the wheel doesn't mean the driver is paying attention. Facial...

Just got a loaner S with AP1. It is still better than AP2.5

You're missing the point. I didn't compare the driving performance of Tesla AP to the functionality of the CT6's AP, I simply stated that the system that determines whether the driver is paying attention is superior, which it is (vastly).
  38. V

Just got a loaner S with AP1. It is still better than AP2.5

I think Cadillac (CT6) actually has the best solution for [this particular] nag problem by using a camera that reads the driver's face to determine attention rather than trying to rely on some hacky force detection on the wheel.

    Best financing interest rates

Thanks, I'll check a few more, but Tesla Lending seems to be pretty competitive, if not satisfying. It annoys me that 75Ds are at a higher rate than 100Ds. A 95K loan isn't enough to "qualify" for the best rate?
  40. V

    Best financing interest rates

Tesla is quoting me 3.49% for 60 months on an X75 with 10% down and an 800+ credit score. Anyone know a nationwide source for funding that's a little more reasonable? @jotango - who's "they"?

    Disapointing Delivery Experience

Sorry to hear about your crappy experience. Definitely trash them in the survey. It seems the Fremont (i.e. flagship) location is just a shambles based on a high percentage of the comments here. There's just no excuse for it. If they don't have enough resources then they need to hire and train...

Does the model X make your passengers car sick?

O/T, but since I lease one, I'm curious how you'd compare your XC90 (was it a recent model?) to the X in terms of ride quality/comfort? I find it a very nice ride (if underpowered), had zero issues, and the build quality was great. But my lease is up.

So I bought FSD on Delivery day...

I'm afraid it will probably some variation of this. Too many broken promises/over-the-top claims have already been made and failed to have been delivered. It's way WAY harder than what Tesla signed up for, and "pending regulatory approval" has nothing to do with it at this point. They're already...

Took Delivery 8/10/2018 - No Issues (whew)

Great to hear this. Scares the crap out of me seeing various delivery nightmares unfold here, but I have to go with the hope that it's true what they say about the vocal minority.

Does anyone hate the battery consumption on the X?

I wasn't a disagreer (is that even a word?), as I don't even have my X yet, but one would assume that other people who enjoy their Xs aren't seeing 500Wh/mi ratings and a bunch of door bugs;)
  48. V

    Delivery tomorrow

That cream/oak/graphite is da shiz. So glad I ordered it on my X. It's a good thing they don't have it for the 3, or I'd probably get greedy and order one of those too!

    X75D

If you're worried about range, then don't get 22s. Your ride quality will also decrease dramatically. As far as "just getting the 100D", it's a $17K difference for essentially a ~20% increase in range. Not worth it, IMO. You're still going to have to supercharge, it's just going to add a few...
