Scheduled Departure Feature - Can You Change the Off-Peak Charging Hrs?

Word - true dat. As you posted this, I was editing my reply above to add this at the end: "(Well . . . . cheaper than California gas)"!! Still, you gotta pay to play in the Golden Bear state. I grew up here, managed to acquire a little bit of property here. When I retire, I can cash all...

Scheduled Departure Feature - Can You Change the Off-Peak Charging Hrs?

Yep. You heard right. Thems are the rates 'round these parts. PG&E is expensive here. And no, I don't have a separate meter for the car. 4.5 cents/kWh is pretty low, even for Pennsylvania. Or so I have read. The Payless Power web site tracks average electricity costs (up to date through...

Scheduled Departure Feature - Can You Change the Off-Peak Charging Hrs?

I actually haven't seen too much all-caps belly-aching/screaming about this feature, and nobody so far is advocating for termination of anybody over it, but I do understand that in forums anybody can say what they want, so people tend to express themselves in perhaps less tactful ways than they...

Scheduled Departure Feature - Can You Change the Off-Peak Charging Hrs?

No, not late to the game, and no, sorry, you're not on EV-A - that's dead now. Everybody who was on EV-A was switched to EV2-A in November of this year. I was on EV-A for five years (So . . . . not exactly late to the game), and was switched to EV2-A through no fault of my own (they just...

Scheduled Departure Feature - Can You Change the Off-Peak Charging Hrs?

I'm not sure if anyone from Tesla who develops these parts of the OS reads these forums or not, but I don't think it's inappropriate or negative to point out the shortcomings of features on the car. I see it as part of the process of Tesla improving this stuff. Think of this as a broad-based...

0-60 MPH test of LR RWD on 2019.36.2.1

What's also odd/interesting, is that the mid-range apparently is now getting 0-60 times of around 4.9 seconds. That's not meaningfully different than (perhaps essentially the same as) the LR RWD "upgraded" 0-60 time, also 4.9 seconds, give or take a hundredth of a second. I understand the...

Scheduled Departure Feature - Can You Change the Off-Peak Charging Hrs?

For me, and everyone in NorCal with PG&E's new EV2-A Rates and TOU times (which is everyone that has an EV and chose to go TOU), off-peak runs from midnight all the way up to 3pm - 15 hours of off-peak, every day. What's especially odd, is that the vast majority of all of the employees in...

Scheduled Departure Feature - Can You Change the Off-Peak Charging Hrs?

It's just so strange that they'd arbitrarily pick a time when off-peak ends, and make it not at all adjustable. Literally all over the country, off-peak start/stop times are different. Really odd that some thing like setting your own off peak ending time, which is a purely software thing and...

Scheduled Departure Feature - Can You Change the Off-Peak Charging Hrs?

The new Software release 36.2.1 introduces this nifty charging feature, Scheduled Departure, which enables you to set your departure time, and then Tesla takes care of figuring out when to charge the car so it's filled up to your specified % right before you leave (or as close to leaving as it...

0-60 MPH test of LR RWD on 2019.36.2.1

I see no increase in range, at all, with 36.2.1. At around 22,300 miles and 1.5 years old, my LR RWD gets around 316 these days, and I only ever saw an increase to about 321 when the initial update came online for my car (the one that was touted as bringing LR RWD's to 325). With the mileage...

Anyone have 0-60 times for LR RWD post 5% update

Interesting comment, in light of regen braking. Have you tried the new setting, that allows full-stop/(H) on regen (ie, true one-pedal driving)? Though my LR RWD brakes have always seemed pretty adequate, with the true one-pedal driving with the increased regen at low speeds, I find myself...

Whatever Happened to the "Full Voice Control" For the 3

Well, it depends on the passenger(s), how free this solution is . . . . . two kids are not "free". Fun, yes, but not "free" by any stretch of the term, "free" . . . . So, I guess every car with a passenger becomes a "voice control" car . . . because you can ask the passenger to do whatever...

Whatever Happened to the "Full Voice Control" For the 3

Whatever Happened to the "Full Voice Control" For the 3

Just wondering. I remember I think it was late 2017, or early 2018, when Musk tweeted something about eventually making all of the 3's functions/controls having voice control/commands. So far, though there are a few newer commands in some of the updates, this has not really come to pass...

Model 3 Phone Charge Cable Swap Thread

Might be too late at this point - I'm in East Bay, have USB-C, looking for lightning. Willing to arrange for a meet-up maybe around Fremont perhaps? Sort of half-way point I think. Also I'm willing to try a mail exchange if you'd prefer. I'll DM you on TMC as well . . .

Help: Bosch Icon Wiper blades - can't seem to install them!

Mine's in the low 26XXX's. So significantly earlier than yours. I'm not sure what that means, though. Did they start outfitting later models with maybe better wipers, or . . . . something with the windwhield changed? I don't know. . . .

Help: Bosch Icon Wiper blades - can't seem to install them!

Did the same thing. Three times, I thoroughly wiped the blades off with isopropyl alchohol. Very thoroughly each time. Helped a little, but only ultimately delayed the onset of chatter from almost immediately to about five minutes into using the blades in steady downpour. Hope it will...

Help: Bosch Icon Wiper blades - can't seem to install them!

This all makes sense. And I did pretty much what you suggest. Three times, actually, I thoroughly cleaned the blades with rubbing alcohol (which is what the RTFManual says to do), plus cleaned three times the windshield with premium car glass cleaners. Currently, after all that, chatter is...

Auto windshield wipers first experience in Oregon - they suck!

It feels perfectly smooth to the touch - as smooth as glass (appropriate, I suppose, because it is glass). I'm not sure what to make of the steel wool suggestion. But .. . . with the windshield being as smooth as, well, as glass, no reason to try any particular substance on it.

Auto windshield wipers first experience in Oregon - they suck!

So . . . .It's now "next month", almost the month after next month. How's that Neural Net coming? My blades, after no RainX ever, and repeated thorough rubbing alchohol cleanings, still chatter like crazy after about ten minutes of use.

    Firmware Build v9.0 2018.48.12.1 d6999f5

Wait, did they try to fix the wiper stuttering/chatter that I and a bunch of others experienced / still experience, with this latest update? It's not in the release notes, though at the end there's a blurb about other minor bug fixes etc. I have now three times thoroughly wiped my blades with...

Received Red California HOV Stickers for Model 3

If you live in California (as I do, NorCal), you likely won't get that free ride much past 2020 or so, no matter what color sticker you get/have (INCLUDING the reds): Clean-air vehicles' free tolls in express lanes are on the way out Quote from below link: "The loss of the popular perk is...

    Awesome iOS App called Stats

Hi @rawmean - Can you tell me what the "keyless driving" feature is? I already have my phone set up and it works flawlessly. What does your feature do, that's different than what Tesla does once your phone is set up as the "key"? Also, though I have about five days worth of data (bought the...

    90% the new recommended SOC?

I haven't experienced it going down when charging to 90%. It does go down when I start a regime of 70-ish% SOC though. Honestly, I haven't heard of it going down when one charges consistently at 90%, only up. But I'm sure there's somebody out there who has. I do appreciate that all one is...

    90% the new recommended SOC?

I've got about 8,500 on my M3 RWD. I was regularly charging to mostly around 70% at first, and within the first 4,500 miles or so, my extrapolated full-charge rated range dipped all the way down to 285 miles. Then, after looking at these forums, I started charging to 90%. Within a week, my...

    Awesome iOS App called Stats

Thanks! Yes, I do feel the overall average price per kwh is a more realistic/accurate number to use. Even though it's a higher number than the overnight cheaper TOU cost, I do feel it's more representative of what the car is actually using $/kwh. (and it still comes out, even with that higher...
  31. F

    Awesome iOS App called Stats

I was going to do that, too, but I realized the relevant rate for me is not the TOU rate, but really the overall price / kwh over the course of my entire billing period. So, I just look at total energy used for the entire billing period, and divide that into *total* electric bill amount on the...
  32. F

    90% the new recommended SOC?

Yes, if you're looking at a 3-5 year ownership period, then really don't worry about charging/capacity, all that stuff. I'm likely going to keep mine for a lot longer than that. So just as it really makes no difference how you charge your battery if you're on a 3-year lease / buy-cycle or...

Model 3 Performance Battery Degradation One Month (Story)

Yeah, agree with Tomas 110%. Because it's just true. It's a rated range, not affected by driving habits, energy usage, etc, and that's what makes that number valuable. Just look at the range calculations in the Apps section - for trailing 5, 15, 30 miles, estimates based on actual usage...
  34. F

Model 3 Performance Battery Degradation One Month (Story)

Yes I agree. It's the BMS going out of whack; not the battery itself. So, charge to 70% if you are super-duper-concerned about super-duper-maximum battery life, then charge to 90/100% a bit when the BMS goes out of whack (or have Tesla reset as they did for LikeTesla), and go on with your...
  35. F

Model 3 Performance Battery Degradation One Month (Story)

That's an interesting data point. What I also take from that is that it's not just the batteries that are new/different from the S/X ones. The BMS is new, too (again, as with the new batteries, no doubt designed/intended to be an improvement, too). But, still new = untested in the real...

Model 3 Performance Battery Degradation One Month (Story)

These are not the same batteries as the S/X. You know that, so don't you think that there is some element of unknown here, with the new batteries? We all hope that the new batteries are better than the old ones (or at least no worse), but the best way to determine that is to see how they...
  37. F

Model 3 Performance Battery Degradation One Month (Story)

Except they're not the same batteries. I know you know that, so I think that you'd recognize that there is some additional unknown here. If I had a car with the same batteries as the S/X, I'd definitely take an immense amount of comfort from the history of how those batteries have held up in...

Auto windshield wipers first experience in Oregon - they suck!

Interesting, I'm the opposite. High speed is the only speed that does not stutter/chatter on mine. The stutter/chatter is horrible. Renders the wipers virtually useless. I'm appalled at their performance. BTW, already did rubbing alchohol, don't use Rain-X or anything else on the windshield.

Model 3 - wipers and washers..

Oops . . . I misread your post the first time I read it, thought it said: "Has anyone found a good replacement for the Model 3?" Thought that was a rather drastic solution to the wiper blade problem!

Model 3 - wipers and washers..

I had major stutter/chatter with mine, too. Tried the rubbing alcohol solution (also discovered that the Manual actually says to try this!), and . . . . . . still major stutter/chatter. I'm going to try to more thoroughly clean the blades again tonight. But as it stands, this is just...

Model 3 Performance Battery Degradation One Month (Story)

Sorry, waited too long to edit the above. Here is a properly edited version: Yes, and this has been borne out by another month of use of the car, continuing to charge at 90%, mostly using 10% of that per day, but also usually one weekend discharge of around 30-35% (longer family trips on the...

Model 3 Performance Battery Degradation One Month (Story)

"Regularly" = consistently - at uniform intervals of time. Every night is regularly. Once a week or n-times a week is a regular/consistent schedule, too. It's possible to plug in the car every night as recommended, but only have it charge on a *regular* schedule of a couple of (or few) times...

Model 3 Performance Battery Degradation One Month (Story)

I'm going with the all (a lot) really that uninformed option. The rated range "grey line" wh/mi usage constant is displayed on the 5/15/30 mile graphs, and it never changes (for any given car). It would change a lot if rated range took into account driving history/historical energy usage.
  46. F

Model 3 Performance Battery Degradation One Month (Story)

The best response to this sort of thing I think is to say to them, "Then what does this "Rated Range" thing mean on the 5/15/30 mile estimates?" That Rated Range number *never* changes on these graphs, for any given car.
  47. F

Model 3 Performance Battery Degradation One Month (Story)

Your phone may also not have the range necessary to maintain the rated capacity that your velocity would require for you to have, in order for you to make that sort of maneuver in reverse under that version of software. In other words, you are right - it really does vary. And depends a lot on...

Model 3 Performance Battery Degradation One Month (Story)

That would be an interesting screenshot, to say the least! He may have to post it from a jail holding cell, after he gets arrested for constantly driving around down in reverse . . . .

Model 3 Performance Battery Degradation One Month (Story)

You guys may be talking past each other here. Number 1: Rated remaining range displayed is ALWAYS based on, a CONSTANT NEVER CHANGING wh/mi assumption. (I hope you're not arguing that this statement is not true, because it is exactly the case for all Teslas.) For my "first production" RWD LR...
