Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
2018 Model X. Held out until my warranty was close to expiring and had the halfshafts replaced. 14 months later (parts warranty is only 12 months BTW for anyone else getting close), the shudder is back and worse than before I had them replaced. Current estimate is $1,335 (Canadian). hoping...
I am eagerly awaiting this update too in Canada, but a couple reasons I can guess:
A) we sometimes get features months/years after the US does.
B) privacy laws are different in Canada compared to the US.
March 2018 75D.
App is showing 308kms at 90% charge. 343kms at 100% charge.
I do approximately 20% supercharging.
Was 358kms at 100% when I first bought it.
Agree, it’s been discussed in other threads, the actual number is a bit meaningless, as real world driving is no where near that...
I came to this forum to ask the same question.
Yes, I used that feature all the time in the old version of the app. these shoulder seasons when I don’t need full heat on, just the seats & steering wheel.
Hopefully the option reverts back in the next update or two.
It can definitely be tricky in the cold. I’ve been doing 110V for a couple years (but I also live 5mins from a supercharger and level 2 at a shopping mall).
The biggest part is warming the battery enough to actually charge in the winter. Below zero and you are using more power to heat the...
My temperature seems off recently too.
Not sure exactly when it started, a week or two ago. It’s the vehicle temperature that seems wrong, as it’ll feel cool inside, but the heat won’t kick-in because the vehicle thinks the temperature is already hot inside.
The app seems to be reporting...
Had mine replaced based on the good intel in this thread. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences.
My SC has always been pretty good. I mentioned to the tech the shudder has been around for a long time, but I never asked about it because the fixes in the past seemed temporary. I...
Agree, Tesla has definitely changed their plan/strategy for urban (in the GTA at least). Problem is, what is it?
Why put V3 in Liberty Village? Pretty sure Tesla’s stance is still fast-supercharging should be occasional for trips/distance travel (fill up as fast as possible and go), as it’s...
Have a browse through some of the New York City threads. It’s a real eye opener into what urban supercharging looks like. (one big take away I had - none come with free parking)
Same. I had called the service line numerous times when it would keep rebooting, so I have that documented proof, but the eh said it needed to be previously analyzed and confirmed by the service centre. I had brought it to the service Center but they never diagnosed anything because they said...
Same. Not sure with the 3, but in my X I just have to slightly press the brake pedal enough to light up the brake lights, and then it allows me to shift back into drive. You don't have to do a full brake / come to a complete stop to shift out of Neutral.
2018 75D.
Normal suspension = shudder
Low suspension = no shudder
I’m waiting for a better fix from Tesla (while under warranty) before bugging service about it.
It might be detecting your phone’s Bluetooth if you have your phone with you when attempting to open the door.
I too was disappointed that I couldn’t get it to stay locked in the dead zone, but I’ve replicated this multiple times:
- Left key in dead zone, walked away, came back and it opened...
Yep, I would need to supercharge 1 to 2 times a week, and noticed I would rarely get the peak speed, regardless of where my batter level was at. Then I read somewhere that I’m probably getting throttled, not for overuse, but for my battery longevity. Don’t know if it’s true, but makes sense...
Yup, and sucks because those that actually need to charge will get dinged idol fees to be in a spot not charging, but if you are not plugged in at all = no fee. Not sure how to implement, but seems same idol fee should apply, plugged in or not.
It's official anyways:
Renfrew, ON | Tesla
Of course, that only means either 6 months away or 1 year and 6 months away.
Anyone have eyes on the site for signs of construction?
I will echo what most have said when trying to decide between 6 or 7 seater. You just have to try them both and decide for yourself what fits your lifestyle. I recommend the following:
1) Call your local store and ask if they have both a 6 and 7 seat model available at the same time. That is...
Well, that is disappointing, especially after reading this article that claims Tesla solar prices will go down:
"Last November, Tesla Energy already announced that it slashed prices of solar systems by up to 20% – citing vertical integration.
Now Tesla is going to announce further price cuts to...
Question for those currently in snowy / below freezing areas of the planet.
Had my first snowy driving conditions today. A fair bit below freezing, some light/medium snowfall. I had the defrost fan on pretty high which is what I normally do in an ICE vehicle to warm up the window to allow the...
I’m losing about 18kms overnight as well (X 75D). I park outside uncovered and it’s been about freezing (0 degrees) overnight, I don’t charge every night. That is going to be maybe 50kms/day lost for nothing which seems pretty high. I understand there will be performance loss in the cold, but...
I spent about $200 bucks/day and rented a Tesla from Turo. You get the car for 24 hours and no babysitter so you can get whatever experience you need out of it.
If you are investing 60-80k, I figure $200 is a small insurance price. I rented a few times, over a weekend and did a road trip...
Range anxiety is tough the first time, but you should be fine. I have a model X 75D and took it to the Kawartha Lakes from the Barrie supercharger which was about 100kms each way for a long weekend. I actually got 379kms at 100% from the supercharger.
Even with the rated 350kms minus 220kms...
Rebate Application Submission Date: April 24th 2018
Rebate Payment Date: still waiting.
I’ve followed up twice(don’t want to bug them too much), application has been received, still working on older applications I’m told.

Sherway is getting a Tesla store to go along with the superchargers.
Timely thread, I’m picking up my X 75 in a week. Although it won’t be my beater, it will be a well used family vehicle.
I’ve been debating getting the XPEL wrap too. If I do, it’ll just be the front protection for about 1K rather than all over for 4K.
I understand it will protect against...
