Full FSD Free Trial: Why I'd never buy it . . . ever.

@ewoodrick I'd say MOST rear end collisions are caused by people not paying attention to the vehicles in front of them - and not just to the one guy in front but the two or three in front of that vehicle -

When did it become the three second rule? It was two seconds when they taught me how to drive and that works just fine if you’re paying attention. If you’re texting or shaving or blow drying your hair the ten second rule won’t help.

I have never been convicted - and never pled any citation down to anything else. No parking tickets. no 'unreckless' driving - zip.

I believe this is a proper evaluation of the current software and hardware. . . . as for those who think I'm highly aggressive or unsafe - I did not buy a BMW ., . . ever.

Well. I coulda added my F14 traps and the 1400 hours there but I didn’t want to brag. Glad to see your track experience. I didn’t need another money pit. Had the airplane already, avoided boats, tracking cars and mistresses.

Never in a million years. Like many I received the free FSD trial in my 2023 Model 3 Performance. I accepted. And though I still have a few days left will not sign up for it - and - from a safety perspective - would never use it. Opinion: [Yes - opinion based on my driving it all over...

    Gps location stuck

Here is another thought - where you live matters - you may be too close to an area where they are doing GPS interference drills by the military., Here in the Southwest the military is always doing GPS interference training - its only supposed to be transitory for a few minutes time to time - I...

GPS not working after departure - also - no music

Hello all - I have this happen often - I'll back out of the garage after an overnight - and enter a destination and the GPS displays the route but the map doesn't update for 1/2 mile or so. The car knew where it was - it was able to create a route - but - the GPS didn't update the map for quite...

Holbrook AZ to Phoenix via Payson or via Pinetop / Globe?

If you purchased it through the Tesla app or website while logged in showing your car . . .it would not let you buy the adapter [well, it would not display it in a search] if your vehicle was not compatible. . . . now - this is Tesla we are dealing with and customer service is an afterthought...

    Quirks - or fixes?

As for 1- I’m at 31mph pretty quick. It’s not a constant. 2. Auto open and close are defaulted. I’m saying there are times I back out (after I drove in with proper activation) and I back out and the activate button comes on instead of closing the door. It’s not predictable and not a...

    Quirks - or fixes?

I have a 2023 Performance with about 5000 miles. I have discovered the following quirks: 1. Mirrors don’t unpack until I’m a ¼ mile from home. 2. Sometimes I have to press activate to get the homelink to close my garage. It never has a problem when I come home. 3. My songs always start...

M3P - Impacts to Cornering & Handling with Smaller & Narrower Wheels

if you're gonna buy dedicated winter wheels and tires then maybe buy some true snow tires. I'm thinking that Delaware isn't exactly New England when it comes to snow - you get what? 5 days a year with snow that is plowable? I wouldn't bother with dedicated snows at that point like I would if...

I'm a car guy - the M3P was the ONLY Tesla choice - and at close to $50k for a discounted inventory M3P - it really is a no brainer. I enjoy the handling of my M3P) also - its 90-95% of my stock 2006 911 Cabrio I sold in January 2023. Its not a GT3 but you can buy 4 of them and insure it for...

Gone for two weeks - Phone Key not working

Gone for two weeks - Phone Key not working

Going on a 500 mile trip and the car and ABRP are totally different. Looking for advice.

I hear ya - but 172 miles of range seems low. . . . and as for total travel time - well - there is a lot less traffic on I8 than I10 - and traffic from PSP to OC can be a real bear - I've seen it back up by Whitewater and be bumper to bumper at 25mph or so all the way to the 60 split. As for...

    Why 42 PSI ?

Yes - but only to a point - on a bicycle you will have less pedaling effort at the upper limit of the recommended pressure than at the lower limit - not necessarily at the highest vs lowest useable pressure - two totally different concepts,.

Going on a 500 mile trip and the car and ABRP are totally different. Looking for advice.

@267w/mi you can do the math yourself - if you are 100% SOC at departure - you have roughly 50,000 watts to play with - If you want to arrive at a supercharger with 10% charge - then you have 187 miles to play with - so yeah you might have to stop in either Buckeye or consider Gila Bend - Gila...

    Why 42 PSI ?

I'm just gonna chime in and say that Tesla set the pressure for the least rolling resistance - If you own a road bike - and this is a simple explanation - take it out and put the max pressure noted on the sidewall and go ride 10 miles. check your time - then - go ride the same route at the...

Rough Ride MYP with Pirelli tires vs ID4 AWD

If you wanted a ride like a 76 Coupe de Ville why did you buy a performance version?? And why cripple the poor thing's suspension by going to tires that are designed for the non-performance version? I just don't understand this - you buy the performance edition of ANY vehicle and you will...

I live in Tucson also - but I have the Performance so I'm closer to 310 miles at 100%. . . My math shows two stops to Anaheim - which makes sense. What is your watts/mi lifetime average? I see about 278 with climate on [heat or AC doesn't matter much] so you take 85% of your stored power [...

Tesla Wall charger on a "50 amp circuit"

I know some electricians here disagree - I had a 30 amp circuit with #6 and my electrician said it needed #4 for sustained 40amp current - he was returning a favor so he wasn't charging me for the job - so he wasn't trying to upcharge me for bigger wire -

Impact of daytime temperature, passenger load and distance on car's range.

A late 2022 will have a heat pump AC - will not use much in the way of power compared to the regular AC system they used to have. Warm weather [even beastly hot 100+ temps] will NOT affect range as much as cold temps. Warmer temps will make the batt more efficient - plus - it carries a...
