Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
It depends on the template. The ones that end in "...775w" mean 7.75 inches. I see one that ends in "...9w", which would mean 9 inches wide.
I always did a cut on a scrap piece of paper first and lined it up with my console to see if it looked correct before I made the cuts on vinyl.
If you click on the link that I posted, then scroll down to pipplo's Nov 13 comment, he has a link to his files on Google Drive. His files contain the measurements.
I posted this in another thread:
I have a Cricut and these comments by "pipplo" on Kenriko's Github were super helpful. He shares his google drive files with the measurements that you will need to resize to in Cricut here: Can you export the illustrator files as SVGs? · Issue #3 ·...
It got lost in this thread but around post #112 OP said she would send her files to Kenkiro and they would work on putting them on Github together.
@Kenriko has the files for free on github. He posted the link here: Vendor - Open Source DIY Model 3 Console Wrap Template
He also sells the wraps...
I agree. I am 5'2". The dashboard is very low on the Model 3. It's the best visibility (out the front) that I have ever had. After sitting in the Model 3, I finally noticed that in every other car I always had to crank/lift the drivers seat all the way up and strain my neck and lift my chin so...
We do the same. We have a LR and a MR, each of our commutes is about 40-60 miles a day. Haven't had any issues with switching parking spots every other day. We also have both cars on the same Tesla account so we swipe back and forth between the two. I find it easiest to hit "Settings" and...
I had the same issue with T4...but along the WHOLE LENGTH of the piece. See my post on page 10. I was only able to tuck the top edge of the vinyl with a blackhead extractor. I practically pushed down on the plastic razor so hard that my skin was about to rip off, but it still won't fit...
I did the camera last. It's definitely more bunching prone than any of the other pieces. Mine has all sorts of bunching around the front most corner of the camera. I might trim some of the vinyl there.
The mirror definitely wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. My first mirror actually...
I heated it and used a folded up piece of the backing and wedged it in there for a few minutes. It's been over a week and it's holding up still.
I finally finished everything last weekend. I don't know how some people could do this in less than a day. I had to spread this across several...
That's a fair comment based on the pictures I posted which were taken from the one angle you can see it from.
Here's what it looks like in real life (the picture compression makes my trim look jagged, it's straight and smooth in person):
Here is the one angle you can see it from. It's only...
@Kenriko I have the exact same issue on both passenger and driver side T3 pieces. I guess there is more of a gap here between the chrome and rubber so there is nothing to tuck into. I keep tucking it in as tightly as I can against the back of the chrome, but it always pops back up. What do...
We have both the black metallic and matrix black. I prefer the matrix. The black metallic is too shiny for me. Matrix has a cool textured matte look. It's also more forgiving during installation.
Ok. I figured it out. I forgot a piece of advice I wanted to mention earlier. Before you start each section, do a dry run with whatever tool you'll be using for tucking the edges in. Use your tool and pretend you are tucking in your wrap. Note how easy/hard it is to push the tip of your tool...
Kenriko has said that some blowdryers may not get hot enough. I bought a heat gun just for this project. I had it set to 200 degrees and to me, I feel like my hairdryer can get just as hot or even hotter. But this is all super un-scientific...I was just waving my hand around in front of it...
I just measured the door handle wrap I have from my chrome delete kit. The length is 21cm. Which is about 8.27 inches. Once you get the length set, I think the other measurements should scale correctly.
I cut a set of door handle wraps using his template on the Cricut. This was before I...
Aww I'm sorry to hear about your car. Your car was the reason why I bought the white handle covers. But I'm glad you are ok!
I love the black interior. It goes with the minimalist design of the car, especially at night when everything is dark. It's like dark mode on your phone/computer.
we ordered a 1ft x 1ft piece off amazon. I think it's enough to make 8 door handles. I only made 1 set though. Whatever format that's on Kenriko's github doesn't work well with my Cricut (the dimensions of the cut files are not saved). I asked a friend with Adobe Illustrator to measure the...
Which blue vinyl are you ordering? We ordered 3m 1080 Gloss Deep Blue Metallic and it was NOT a match. And yes, his template covers all the front facing chrome.
There is a link to the templates on the very first post in this thread. Currently there are templates available for the center console, door switches, and door handles.
I haven't seen either in person yet (when used for chrome delete), but we have the matrix on our console. It is more of a matte gray-ish look from afar. It looks like a solid color from about 3 feet away, but up close you see the matrix pattern. From what I've been reading, matrix is more...
I voted yes. We already have 2. Bought the first one in March 2018. Loved it so much and picked up the second one a year later almost to the day.
We have had minor issues with the car, but no issues at all with the service centers:
With the first one there were panel gap alignment issues...
You should switch to wearing only leggings.
I'm kidding (sort of). I stopped wearing some of my shorts that had exposed zippers for this reason. They would brush up against the paint and I would panic, luckily they never scratched anything.
@N54TT That looks so good!! I also love your wheels. I can't wait to see the finished look. Thanks for the tips, it's exactly what I was hoping people would share.
I ordered my satin kit last night. However, I don't think we will have time to actually install anything until October. :( I want...
I agree. That Gold Sparkle will not match at all. The closest is 3M Satin Frozen Vanilla (which is what Abstract Ocean uses). We have it on our handles and it is a really close (but not perfect) match. Some other person on these forums had some really good pictures. Let me find a link.
We have Pearl White and Deep Blue. I want the satin on the white (we have white door handle wraps already), but the husband says he likes the satin on the blue. I know we can solve this by getting 2 kits. hahaha.
My husband and I have done 4 consoles already. 2 from RPM (we bought these before yours were available), 1 from you, and 1 from your free template!! Thanks so much for all the hard work you put into this. I always recommend your console wraps whenever we meet someone with a Model 3. I am...
Please post your chrome delete pictures here: Kenriko Chrome Delete Kit: Show off your tips and pictures here
I've been watching the install videos all morning. The husband and I are still deciding if we are brave enough to do this.
I'm jealous of all the people that ordered Kenriko's kit. I slept through the initial release (darn those kids for wearing me out!), but I'm so indecisive and I'm not sure if I want the Satin or Matrix. I'm also not sure which car I want to do it on...the white or the blue? I don't think my...
Wow. Sounds like a really stressful time for your wife. I think she needs the zen like interior of a model 3 to help her relax. :D
Yesterday after a long stressful day at work, I got stuck in some bad traffic. I sat there with AP on and listened to my favorite songs with a giant derpy smile...
My husband saw the video. We were not able to get the original struts linked from Amazon, but he found similar/same ones from somewhere else. He installed the struts and a lighter spring today.
I don't like it. When it opens, I am afraid of it. It opens with such force. If I'm prepared and...
To protect the paint from little feet, we also got these for the rear door sills: Rear Door Sill Scuff Kick Plate
We already had PPF on the rear door sills. We purchased one set from RPM Tesla for the first car, but for the second one, we just cut a rectangular piece of PPF ourselves. Since...
We own 2, we bought them 1 year apart.
#1: LR RWD with EAP and FSD
#2: was originally going to be a SR+ with AP, but we upgraded to MR with AP during the sale at the end of the quarter.
A few years ago I never thought I would own a Tesla, much less two of them! But when the SR/SR+ was...
If it helps, you can also ask if it was a reject from a previous owner. They should have the entire car history and they should be able to tell you. When we were in the process of getting ours, they were able to tell assure us it was not a reject. They could see that the car was matched to...
My kids love Marshmello. I say go for it! It doesn't seem like it would be too expensive and it would definitely turn some heads. I think it would make my day if I saw this. Also if you get tired of it, you can remove it easily. In any case, I think this would look better than an i8.
If you happen to be at a stop light and the Tesla employee gives you the go ahead to floor it when the light turns green, make sure you MASH THAT ISH (after making sure there are no cars or pedestrians in your way).
We got to test drive a Model S P100D with Ludicrous. Salesperson told my...
The S is/was different. For Model 3s you are usually matched to a car that has already been made. I don't think they are trying to scam you at all. If you ask them if the car has been rejected, they should be able to tell you. When I got matched recently to a 2018 VIN, I had a similar...
