Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
Analysts and investors aren't asking for much. They just want profitability and growth.
As long as the narrative is unprofitable "as long as..." + demand slow down. The SP will be bearish
Of course, but the problem is that they need to accord each other on the terms. And the big question is which terms are they willing to accept or not.
And to get those terms accepted, who is going to give up first, and until what point of pain they'll get until they accept the terms....
And I also wonder psychologically if it has an effect on Chinese customers.
China is a very centralized country, and the government influences everything. If the Chinese government start to cast a bad light on US products, I wonder if it can affect the choice of Chinese to buy a Tesla
It's not a lie.
But I understand why people might think that. It comes from a misunderstanding of the development of this tech.
A lot think it's about "programmation", they think the software dev are basically writing code for the car to operate in different environments.
It doesn't work this...
Yes but raising capital isn't "free" either. You always bring more people on board to whom you'll owe after (in this case not at a fixed date, but still...).
Point is there are many logical reason other than just wanting "to prove" to not raise capital.
I've got say though, the numbers are a nice reality check for many people here.
I remember when a while ago I was talking about how Tesla needs to be prepared in case there's a recession to have enough cash and have a healthy P&L.
And people here completely brushed me off saying that Tesla are...
Still prior guidance of 360000-400000 re affirmed AND "US orders for Model 3 vehicles significantly outpaced what we were able to deliver in Q1".
Fundamentally I'm okay with the report, however the market might not see it that way right now...
Tbh I think leaked informations and fighting FUD just (few days-weeks) before the actual official numbers are released is bad. Because even though the leaked informations and the fight of FUD are not on really mainstream medias, it probably still get to the ears of some of the fund managers and...
Probably really controversial opinion here but :
IMO, it just displays the Nobel Peace Prize has lost its value. It's almost a sign of disrespect from the one who really have the power. Like "Oh youu guyss are so cutee, heyy look we think about you, we're giving this prize to this amazing...
Goldman: Tesla's earnings and deliveries likely to disappoint this quarter, so sell the stock
Well.. I mean... reading traditional medias, is there anything that's not disappointing regarding Tesla ?
Yes but those without student loans have still one less burden. All else equal, it is better if you have less to take off your paycheck. Especially as student loans can't be be declared bankruptcy on. You're stuck with them no matter what :/
It depends. I don't know about doctors.
But many jobs that are "in demand" right now could get hit really bad in a turning economy. When the economy "turns", those who will have loans will be in a way worse situation than those without debt. If they're unable to pay for the loan, they might lose...
Tesla has many really competent managers. And Elon is an amazing CEO. He needs to be the CEO in order to instill the vision, and make sure the company is going on the right path. Which is one of the main role of a CEO. And he's doing a great job accomplishing this task.

MODERATOR'S In-Line Hammer:
THIS ABOVE kind of post is precisely what any number of Moderator actions and deletions over many months have been targeting. It wastes other members' time; it is simple laziness.
DO NOT post un-referenced, un-explained references...
I think 2019 is going to be a fairly positive year for the market in general. There was this kind of massive correction at the end of 2018. It cleared a lot of overvaluations and overheating. The fed is more cautious, and might not even raise the interest rates at all this year. China-US trade...
Also the official language in European countries isn't english except in the UK. And even though many people do speak english, a lot don't so... it's a little bit tricky :D
As someone living in France right now I'd say 2 things seem to stick out in my eyes :
1. Communication is really bad in France. A lot of FUD, or even worse, they're just ignorant about Tesla. They simply don't know what Tesla is. It's the same in most other countries, but at a larger extent in...
Given the potential TSLA has, I really don't understand how long term investors wish little things like " Hope it goes to 280s, hope it stays <300...".
Guys when the SP will be >2000, you won't care if you bought at 280 or 320...
"Barring unexpected challenges with Gigafactory Shanghai, we are targeting annualized Model 3 output in excess of 500,000 units sometime between Q4 of 2019 and Q2 of 2020."

10k is still the goal, but not this year.
I think this year is going to be a very volatile year (more than usual..). So be prepared to experience tons of good days/bad days without a good understanding of what's really happening.
Global economical growth is going to slow down, investors are going to be wary.
But I also expect a...
Not so sure it comes from Larry. It's just that now because the hardest part of the production ramp has been pretty much achieved. Now they simply shift their focus to prepare the field for the more affordable Model 3. :)
As automation improves, a lot of employees are going to be let go.
Basically 3 months ago they needed those 130 employee to produce X amount of cars. Now they only need 121 employees to produce that same amount because of improvement in automation. And still grow.
Bears have ammo for still some time. Even after Q1 profitability, they'll say :
- That's it backlog is finished, demand is fading, sales are going to fall. So last time it is profitable.
- Model 3 was profitable only with dual motors, long range, P... once they introduce the SR, they won't be...
Maybe, but I doubt that they will stop producing European cars just to be able to deliver everyone of them without any being in transit. I think they'll produce consistently for Europe without caring much about transit.
