Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
I have a 2017 Model X, got the tuner upgrade (for free too and yes I have premium audio) and got Sirius/XM working. But only after rebooting the car after sirius enabled the XM radio to make it work.
Just got my FM/XM radio upgrade to my MCU2 infotainment upgrade that I had done a few months ago. Great to have radio again, although I rarely use it. And I was surprised that it cost me nothing.
Thank you, Tesla!
It's definitely needed if you replace the front tri-camera. The camera will work, but what it sees is a bit out of sync. The stoplights at intersections were very wonky. Once the calibration was done, then the stoplights looked very stable. This may be because of the three cameras versus the...
I did not replace my B pillar cameras and the calibration did 100% after about 6 miles of driving for my X.
So perhaps the "additional cameras" are the B pillar ones, but I'd be surprised if the software is even using those yet.

Both left and right side available on ebay for around $75
I did finally figure out why the new color triple camera didn’t quite look as good as the side repeater cameras. It’s because on the Model X the cameras are above the AS1 line of the windshield and that area is tinted, hence the slightly greyer look.
I haven't gotten the update yet, so I have no clue. It would be nice if it could do both the yellow hazard and construction speed limits.
Consider yourself one of the lucky few who received the first batch of updates.
What you saw as speed limit sign recognition was really speed limits based on the maps using GPS coordinates. It correctly did the speed limits most of the time, but if it wasn't on the map, you could easily end up driving too fast or too slow for the actual posted speed limit.
This update...
If I knew what I was doing it would have taken 15 min. But since I didn't, it took an hour. The most important thing is you need a T10 torx tool to remove about 12 identical screws.
This was for a Model X:
Step 1: Remove the small plastic cover around the mirror on the bottom side.
Step 2...
Finally installed my new triple color camera. Then I downloaded 2020.32.3 and went for a drive. The visualization was a little wonky for the stop lights. So I used the new recalibrate camera features and drove for about 6 miles and everything was calibrated. I like the little circle showing...
As I understand it, with MCU1 the rear camera image went directly to the screen. With MCU2, the cable has to go to the image processor on the MCU2 first, then that processed signal gets redirected to the screen.
If this is the right part number (1120520-00-B) about $300 on ebay. But what is the right part #?
And what is the old part # that we are currently using? My experience with both side repeaters being replaced has been great so far.
I'm willing to try the front cameras, if I know I've got the...
Just got both new color side repeater cameras from Tesla today and installed them. The color is much better. Not as good as the backup camera, but better than the old ones and the front camera.
So far, sentry mode and motion images work just fine. Nothing affected so far. I kept the old RCCC...

I’m in the same situation you are. If it takes another 6 months to get my MCU2/HW3 upgrade then so be it. I fully expected I’d have to buy a new Tesla to get the good stuff. So $2500 and a few months of waiting is a deal. And maybe by then they’ll figure out a way I can buy a digital FM...
Actually, the cell phone network is not as fragile as you might think. Most towers have backup power in case of power outage and/or losing a tower or two to earthquakes or other calamities. This just results in some degraded performance but the cell network is still operational. There really...
I know Tesla calls them both superchargers on their maps. Of course, both the 72KW urban superchargers and the 120/150KW regular superchargers are plenty fast. And when over 50% SOC, they do charge about the same. In any case, the Dulles/Herndon/Reston area would be a good location for a new...
