    Supercharger- Claymont, DE

I saw this one yesterday too when I went to Total Wine.

Tesla hurt their own profits by putting wimpy chargers in 3's.

16,000 miles in one year with my S60D, 75 mile-per-day commute. We charge with NEMA 247 V @ 29 Amps and have never had a problem reaching whatever desired state of charge we want. Heck, most of the time we only charge every other day because we also have a Leaf. Why waste the money on the...

2015 Model S - Trunk Won't Open When Approached From Behind

This happens to my facelift Model S every single day. I've learned to live with it and approach from the side (triggering the driver's or passenger's side unlock) prior to rounding to the trunk. I would really want Tesla to fix this.

Verdict of 2016 Model S 60 Battery being top or bottom limited?

    100% S/C max for my 60D is 35 kw.

    From TDI to Tesla

VW bought mine back on Monday. Very happy.

Has anyone noticed longer time for limited regen to go away?

Same behavior here. My car was cold soaking at work for 12 hours at 20 degrees yesterday and got properly cold. I have a 35 mile commute and it wasn't until about 30 miles in that my regen totally returned.

Do you keep Creep on or off?

A thousand times off. We have a Leaf as well, and it forces you to always be on the brake in stop-and-go traffic. The MS's immensely superior accelerator control just makes everything better. Why emulate the limitations of an automatic transmission torque converter? That makes no sense.

    From TDI to Tesla

VW is buying back my 2011 Golf TDI in two weeks' time. We purchased our S60D with an eye on the proceeds. What I don't understand here is the concept of "dragging out" anyone's acceptance of the VW buyback offer. The way I see it, each day you drive is one more chance of getting in an accident...

Verdict of 2016 Model S 60 Battery being top or bottom limited?

    1. Regen is not affected at 100%. 2. You still get the annoying nag. 100% supercharging rate is 35kW, which is extremely high compared to an unlocked battery. I frequently supercharge to 100% when we're on trips because I don't like to be rushed at lunch! :D

    Does Model S 60 actually have a 75 battery?

You mean regenerative braking? It is unaffected at 100%.
  11. The_Mike

    Does Model S 60 actually have a 75 battery?

For a datapoint on the limited tapering, we see approximately 35kW charging at 100% on the 60D.
  12. The_Mike

    Does Model S 60 actually have a 75 battery?

Exactly this. The announcement of the 60D allowed my wife and I to buy directly in to Tesla with our Model S. Our plan had been to buy / lease a Bolt for the next three years until the Model 3s finally hit the East Coast. We needed the ~200 mile range as an upgrade from her lease-expired Leaf...

Regenerative Braking with 100% Charged Software-Limited 60 kWh Battery

With my 60D, I regularly charge to 90%. But during any kind of trip I charge to 100%, and in fact supercharge to 100% as well when we stop for a meal. (Supercharging the 60D to 100% is impressively fast, due to it really being only 80%)
  14. The_Mike

Regenerative Braking with 100% Charged Software-Limited 60 kWh Battery

Dotted line means limited regeneration either because of low battery pack temperature or maximum charge. In this situation you would have little to no regenerative braking and you would have to rely on the friction of brake pads like every other car on the road. This is expected behavior and is...

Northrup Grumman (was Orbital Sciences) Antares / Cygnus

My wife and I watched from Swedesboro, NJ. It was 5-10 degrees above the horizon, and we saw the first stage burn at about T+120 seconds. Got to watch through first stage burnout, a surprisingly long coast period, second stage ignition, and about 60 seconds of second stage burn. Any successful...

AP following the idiot in front

Yeah, I'm wondering if this is a recent change. The UI only shows one or the other - either the lanes or the car in front as blue (meaning the car is using that item as its guide). But I wonder if there is a blending or weighing of features that can be activated in certain use-cases. Clearly, it...

    Random Bolt Sightings

My wife absolutely hates the look of the new Prius. I really don't understand why Toyota would go with a polarizing design in a mass-market appeal volume seller. I understand the idea that people want to be seen driving a car that's recognizably a Prius, but yikes.

    Tesla as only car (poll)

My wife and I have: 2016 Model S 60D 2014 Leaf (lease ends July 2017) 2011 VW Golf TDI (to be bought back by VW ~November) 1996 Miata for fun! +Motorcycle So we have a harem, but only until next year when it will be Model S + Miata. We had originally planned on waiting on the Tesla, but ended...

Volkswagen Is Ordered to Recall Nearly 500,000 Vehicles Over Emissions Software

Yeah totally ridiculous, but absolutely true. Driving a manual transmission car on windy roads is FUN in a way that the Tesla isn't. Fortunately, we also have a Miata. :)

Chevy Bolt a "Commuter Car?" Not Available Until April? Help!

Thank you for that interesting reply. I am very excited about what comes to our infrastructure improvements in the next few years, and more EV charging options can only improve things for society in general. As someone who is directly effected by VW's duplicity (I'm actually waiting on the buy...

Volkswagen Is Ordered to Recall Nearly 500,000 Vehicles Over Emissions Software

Current 2011 VW Golf TDI owner patiently waiting for the buyback ... Diesel for personal cars (not trucks) is on the way out. VW just accelerated its death by killing the US market and drawing a microscope on emissions in Europe. Which I suppose is good news for an EV owner, though I will...

Chevy Bolt a "Commuter Car?" Not Available Until April? Help!

I for one am very glad that GM is finally getting (back) into the EV game. The Bolt seems to be an exceptionally practical vehicle that will deal with the majority of peoples' needs (commuting) perfectly. We had a Nissan Leaf with half the range for two years and 36,000 miles and my wife was...

Word "Autopilot": To ban or not to ban?

In my opinion, it's really just a case of Tesla incorrectly setting expectations. Sure, from technical aeronautical prospective, the term Autopilot is accurate - but that's not how everyday people interpret it. It's like trying to compare nutritional language to scientific language used in...

    Opinion on different options

I can second that despite how much I love my new S60D, the interior cannot compare to German luxury. It's more of a C-class / 3 Series competitor in terms of interior quality - spartan and functional. I wouldn't even give it the level of E-class / 5 series. And ours has the leather seats and...

    "Blind Spot Detection is disappointing"

No autopilot here, but I cannot even use the blind spot detection system. Frankly, the system doesn't make sense, as it directs your attention -down- away from where you should be looking. I'm very familiar with these systems, which are usually based on an indicator light in the side view mirror...

    Supercharger - Hamilton Township, NJ

Stopped here with the wife coming home from our South Jersey to Boston trip. We managed to explore five different supercharges on this trip. Great to know what amenities are where for those last-minute trips! Hamilton was a little out of the way between the NJ turnpike and 295. Its in an...

Supercharger - Milford, CT - Boston Post Road

Stopped here with the wife coming home from our South Jersey to Boston trip. We managed to explore five different supercharges on this trip. Great to know what amenities are where for those last-minute trips! Milford was a bit lacking, but we did end up enjoying a slice of pizza from Sbarros...

    Supercharger - Auburn MA

Stopped here with the wife coming home from our South Jersey to Boston trip. It's a little off the beaten path, but does have eight superchargers stalls - all of which were empty save ours on a Monday morning at 10:30. Mall is adjacent with stores and bathrooms, at least during business hours...

Supercharger - Darien CT Rest Area

Wife and I charged here yesterday with our new 60D at the north side pair of two. One of those was constantly ICEd - three different cars in the hour we were there. Weirdly, the south pair is one pull-in and one back-in spot, which were coned off, with an active attendant. What a terrible job...

    Supercharger - Dedham, MA

Wife and I charged here yesterday with our new 60D, and saw all eight spots taken for a few minutes! Definitely a popular spot on a Saturday afternoon. Staff was very nice, and didn't mind talking to us about various Tesla topics, even though we clearly weren't in the market for another car...

    Supercharger - Newark, DE

Enjoyed supercharging their with my wife at the end of our road trip on Sunday. Over the course of our 45 minutes, saw four other Model Ses and one X. Nice location with plenty of stalls, though the service center is always crowded and the fast food choices aren't the best. I'm hoping MD puts...

    Supercharger - Laurel, MD

Had a nice time exploring the area on Sunday with my wife. We stayed in Columbia, and tripped down to Laurel to check it out. Like others have mentioned, it's a little hard to find - but the nav does get you there in the end. It's an outdoor-style mall, with mid-tier retail, a movie theater, and...

    Insurance On Model S?

Geico in New Jersey had no idea what to do with my S60D, they wanted ~$2500/yr for it alone! We talked to Progressive, which was less than one third of that! We pay a total of $2600/yr for two drivers and four cars. Tesla on its own is $762 / yr for good coverage with $500 deductible.

Well apparently delivery dates are not as advertised

Weirdly, ours went the other way. Initial delivery date was October 16, but they built it in the beginning of September as part of the Q3 rush. Who knows? Tesla cannot seem to predict their production schedule very well.
