Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
Turns out I didn't have the instructions and there was a bit more to installing these than I thought. Took about 15 minutes per seat, but they look great!
I would hold off on buying these if you have the new Model S. I bought them and they don't line up right at the top for me. I'm waiting to hear back from the manufacturer about how to return these considering how much they cost!
Since I had a refreshed Model S they did not have the template yet. They had to do the front end manually. Also, the TACC radar is behind the front end so they couldn't cut around it.
I'm in the west suburbs. I used Kapital Electric for my outlet install because they were a Tesla-recommended installed. I got quotes from other private electricians but they were in the same ballpark (around $2k). Kapital Electric had the best plan of what to do though since it was a long run...
I did it but I also plan on keeping the car for longer than that. If I was going to trade it in after 3 years I probably wouldn't have done it. I'd probably look at just doing the front part of the car which would be significantly cheaper and will help with the stuff that commonly hits the front...
XPEL has "rinse free" car wash stuff that makes cleaning easier since you don't need to pull out the hose:
Rinse Free Car Wash | XPEL
I believe I have seen some youtube videos showing how this works as well.
No one is making you do it. You might as well say that we are crazy for buying a Tesla when you can get a Corolla for $15k. They both get you to where you are trying to go.
I got the Xpel because it also makes the car much more scratch resistant, which is obvious if you look at some of the...
In Chicago I paid $6400 for Xpel and window tinting. It was only a couple hundred for the tinting. I got a couple quotes and most were a few hundred less, but I went with a place that does a ton of the wraps. They also wrapped the edges where possible, and pulled off the emblems and got new ones...
One thing to keep in mind is that on a lot of previous cars we've had with light color interiors... on the edges of the seats there would always be a lot of blue that rubs off from jeans. We've now said we wouldn't get any other interior colors other than black. Lots of people have had similar...
For people that want a bit of background on my story:
Model S Delivery Update
Took about 2.5 weeks to get the car after the production was done, but it is here. Our car is a 90D that is just about fully loaded (no extra seats in the back). We ordered it after the refresh was announced, and it...
Mine is almost at Chicago. Train time was about 2.5 weeks. The DS said it is because the train stops at various locations along the way, and has to rearrange the train cars. That takes a couple days for each stop. That's why it takes so long.
Yeah, I've heard the same thing. I'll be picking up at Villa Park, and they are going to be trying to get the car on a truck right away. They are trying to arrange a special pickup for us because of our situation (I have cancer, and my 1.5 year old just had a liver transplant and still needs a...
He is 1.5 years old, and a bunch of people from Tesla have already met him. I was wondering if that would be it as well. Should be interesting to see what they do.
I basically just posted this in another thread.
I'm in Chicago too. My DS emails me almost everyday with a status update. The one from today said they are targeting May 25th. Maybe we are on the same train!
From my DS:
That's fine though. I have chemo that week and won't be able to pick it...
I think you will beat me then. My DS emails me almost everyday with a status update. The one from today said they are targeting May 25th.
From my DS:
That's fine though. I have chemo that week and won't be able to pick it up until later in the week. I had mentioned it before as well, but they...
So my DS said that he has been pestering their logistics team to make sure I get the car as soon as possible. It is already on their fastest train route, but did say that it may stop in New Mexico to rearrange the train cars so it may take a few extra days. He said he is expecting it no later...
Looks like it will be about two weeks before I get it. My Delivery Specialist said that it is at the rail hub in California waiting to be transported. So it is coming by train to Chicago.
My story is here for anyone interested:
Model S Delivery Update
My status hasn't changed yet... still in transit. My Tesla service center called me yesterday for no apparent reason other than to see how things were going. My Delivery Specialist was on vacation this week so I didn't want to bug...
That would be me :)
I'll definitely look for as much as I can. I assume if the cameras have been updated it will be pretty obvious on the windshield. And I'll check out the battery pack.
Thanks! I've had cancer for two years and have had 53 rounds of chemo (normal is about 12 rounds, but since I'm younger my doctors are pushing me harder). Thankfully it has been slow progression.
I'll definitely try and get you guys as much info as I can from the car. I do have to say that...
Mine is 1403xx, but they moved mine up in the production queue. You can read why in this post I did:
Model S Delivery Update
According to them they were trying to make mine one of the first off the production line.
Just an update on my post - The delivery guy said that my car has entered general production, which means it is about 75% of the way done according to him.
Our sales guy also asked if there was a foundation he could donate his bonus from selling our car... we told him to just keep it though...
So my story is a bit unusual. I am 31 years old with incurable cancer that is progressing, and a 1.5 year old son who just had a liver transplant and still needs a kidney transplant. The Tesla Model S was my dream car, and after paying off the house and a few years of saving up we finally had...
