Spent $5k 3 years ago. I agree that it's a sunk cost at this point and quite negligible when talking about a $150k car. And after you take delivery of your car, it's going to depreciate immediately, more than the $5k you put down to reserve it.

Yep, I can relate. It's almost the principle of it all and getting to the straw that breaks the camels back. Maybe they will let you apply the $ to a future model. But it's really unacceptable how they don't account for peoples schedules. I know they are busy, but come on - we all have lives...

Maybe they are intentionally delivering out of sequence so that the "shorters" cannot determine how many have actually be delivered. Just sux for us early reservation holders who have been over looked...

Have you been in contact with your DS? Do you know the hold up? Did you pick a 5 seat config? Seems like some people knew the secret sauce and got their cars delivered within a MONTH of ordering vs some of us waiting years after reserving and months after configuring.

The process is certainly flawed. The intention of the car is flawless, execution is flawed for now, but I am sure they will get it right, eventually. Just a painful revolutionary road.

I certainly regret reserving one 3 years ago, I also regret the upsell of a performance model - both done in an effort to get my car early and support the company since we have been so happy with our P Model S. NEVER again will I give Tesla my interest free money for them to hold multiple years...

Given that relative to the price of the car, $2,500 is not a fortune, but after spending $140K and being promised a car by 1st quarter 2016, I don't want to spend an extra $2,500 due to Tesla's mishaps. More so - I don't want to spend an extra $2,500 due to high VINs and non Performance models...
