    Tesla 3 Performance v. Porsche 911 4S

Silver is my favorite paint color, but it also has shown the least amount of dirt of any color car. My wife had a white Audi A8, and white shows a lot of dirt. Now she has a metallic black Panamera....black shows dirt really badly. My silver vehicle can go for a while before it needs a bath, and...

    Tesla 3 Performance v. Porsche 911 4S

If the paint quality and fit and finish improves, I'll buy another TESLA. The paint excuse about California standards is an excuse. Germany has the same paint standards, and Porsche paint is fantastic. Other than those issues, the TESLA is an amazing vehicle. It's more practical than the 911...

Returning Tesla M3P after month, possible?

They would not allow me to return on day 8. They did say that the only time they make an exception is when the car has an issue that does not allow for seven consecutive days of driving. Your options are to keep it for a while like somebody else recommended. Give Tesla an opportunity to fix the...

Anyone considering delaying their purchase due to Market Downturn related to Corona virus?

I almost returned mine in the seven day window. It was a "demo," but I think somebody else returned it, because it had an Atlanta address in saved as "home" in the nav system. I was going to return it, because I wasn't 100% sure I wanted the car or like the color. If there wasn't the rule of...

    New Delivery Paint Issues

Auto plants in the EU have been using water based paints since the 90's. I am not sure about any other differences in regs, but that can easily be Googled. The EU has taken serious measures regarding climate change, so I would not be surprised if their regs were as stringent as California. Those...

    Current Trend in Pre-Owned Market

I sold my 2020 Model 3, because I was very unhappy with the paint quality and fit and finish on the exterior. I loved the interior, which had no problems, loved the seats, the dash, the no gas stations, and the technology. I also think it is one of the best driving cars I have ever driven. Due...

    Current Trend in Pre-Owned Market

I did not know that. Tesla Model 3 resale could hold well during this auto economic slump. I sense that most Model 3 buyers have purchased their cars to keep them for a while. That too will be good for resale value.

    New Delivery Paint Issues

This is not asking for "perfection," but simply asking for industry standard. Why can't Tesla paint a car like every other manufacturer and why should they get a pass for not doing so?

    Current Trend in Pre-Owned Market

This current crisis has started to affect the used car market. Even people who haven't lost their job and may be ready for a new car are not out shopping. The auctions are shut down and cars continue to come off of lease. Model 3 lease cars won't be coming off of lease until next year, so the...

Updating a 2020 Tesla vs 2020 Updating a Land Rover - A lesson in WTF

    Tesla 3 Performance v. Porsche 911 4S

If Tesla improved it's paint, I wouldn't even think about a 911. And please add silver back to the color choices.

    Tesla 3 Performance v. Porsche 911 4S

You are not kidding. Porsche's menu is ridiculous and everything is an option. I looked at a CPO Cayenne that was loaded up for a Cayenne, but whoever ordered it did so with base stereo. Even the Bose is just meh, but base stereo is like mud.

My journey with Tesla's referral program...spoiler, it's terrible.

The person who helped me made it work....got the code in after I bought the car, but before I took delivery. I get the sense that Tesla gives their people very little leeway to do anything. That's bad for the customer and the Tesla employee. All of the people I have dealt with have been nothing...

    Tesla 3 Performance v. Porsche 911 4S

I've long been a Porsche guy. I've had a 911 for both as a weekend fun car and as a daily driver. Currently two Porsche cars in the garage. I have a Cayenne diesel and wife has a Panamera S e-hybrid. Between the 911 and the Model 3 from a driving perspective, I prefer the model 3. The instant...

The fit and finish on these cars is GARBAGE!

Some of us are newbies to the forum, and we don't know all of the above. I would never have thought to research these issues before buying. You are correct that every car made is a compromise. The 3 is one of the most fun car I have ever driven. Perhaps the best way to avoid frustration is to...

    Model 3 AWD 18” vs 19” wheels

18n inch tires are a good bit less expensive than 19's. 20's are cheaper than 19's. The Model 3 eats tires pretty fast, so the cost of tires is something one has to put into the equation. I like the 18 inch midnight silver wheel with the option of putting the aero covers back on for a road trip.

We have had different experiences. When I use the word "perfect" I mean no issues. I currently have a Porsche Cayenne diesel. Fit and finish is perfect. Leather could be better. One warranty claim (it's a 2015) which was the second hand fell off of the clock (why they felt the need to put a...

The fit and finish on these cars is GARBAGE!

I've already seen multiple Tayacan's. Not one of them has had any panel gaps or paint issues. Of all the cars I've ever owned, none of them have had the fit and finish problems like the Model 3 (I haven't ever paid attention to the S). I know many people think Elon Musk or Tesla can do no wrong...

Vendor 15% Off Suma Ceramic Coating Spray

Why is it better than ceramic coating? What is the difference between "nano technology" and ceramic coating? Are there body shop issues that come as a result of your product?
  32. M

Poll: Would you return your model 3 over this panel issue?

I have two friends with 3's that no body panel defects....none. Are those outliers? Mine did not have those. The only issues on mine is the rear bumper has a gap, and one front fender slightly is past the front bumper.

Fit & Finish Issues - Which ones would you ask to be corrected?

I am a big fan of Tesla and particularly the Model 3. However, this issue is the type of thing that I do not understand. Some have said they have seen other manufacturer's cars with the same issue. I haven't. My 2002 Lexus LS430 didn't have any of these issues. Even my 1998 Range Rover (Rover...

303Aerospace Protectant can be used to clean and detail model 3 seats?

303 is good, but use sparingly. If you use too much, it can cause marks to be left behind. I personally prefer Sonax. One of the Tesla delivery people told me he uses a Magic Eraser to get dirt or a stain off of his white Model 3 interior.

    Paint Quality & Fitment

I think that a lot of consulting firms made a lot of money when 'Six Sigma" was the new thing. Sadly, most companies don't need it....they paid for it, and it now sits on the shelf. Also, unless you are a large company that needs it, Six Sigma is a very expensive process to utilize.
  36. M

Fit & Finish Issues - Which ones would you ask to be corrected?

The one I picked up must be in the top 1%. The bumper gap to the trunk was obvious, the line up of the front quarter panels was a little off, small amount of paint off of the door by the lower center of handle, and some paint chipped off of the bottom rocker where it meets the front passenger...

Model 3 inventories up -- any deals happening?

It's hard to say. I am assuming a lot of people are declining their deliveries due to the economic uncertainty, and the same goes for new orders. If that is correct, the factory is probably most efficient at full production. If people are permitted to go to work and cars are being made, they...

    Already disappointed with Tesla

With forecasted resale on a Tesla being high, unless one has a business reason t lease, it appears to be better to make payments toa lender, and then sell the car at 36 months old...or keep driving if you like. Options are good.

    Paint Quality & Fitment

Businesses are still using Six Sigma. The ones that are using it are the ones it was intended for. At one point many companies jumped on this bandwagon when it was not necessary.....if they achieved two sigma, they would have been beyond excellence. The automotive industry is still utilizing six...

    Paint Quality & Fitment

This is what I "heard," so take it with a grain if salt. Musk is heavily involved. He does hire excellent plant management, but then he grinds them and they leave. If plant management rolls over before good process management is in place, the result is inconsistency. All other car companies are...

Wasn't sure where to post this question. I just purchased a Model 3 AWD LR. I do have somebody that wants to buy it from me, and will pay me what I paid. My question is (I have only had it three weeks). Best driving car I have ever driven. Are these cars reliable? Is the service good? I live...

Tesla Is Officially Selling A Used Model 3 With Serious Paint Issues

I agree that other manufacturers will hide/fail to disclose issues. I am surprised that an S4 had rust issues. You are in the rust belt, but even so, I am surprised at a modern car rusting that fast. Being a first time Tesla owner, I just hope that the car is as good as the technology, etc. I am...

Anyone considering delaying their purchase due to Market Downturn related to Corona virus?

If one can still move forward, one should. If we all stop our purchasing, we will have a recession. This pandemic will pass. The stock market was overvalued and disconnected from reality.

Model 3 inventories up -- any deals happening?

My thoughts are that between the new manufacturing of the Y and the potential of a disruption n supply chain could limit supply. If demand is still high and supply is low....no need to do anything to sell cars. Only if demand drops off a lot can I imagine any incentives being offered. I am very...
