Model Y HW4 with OEM Tow Hitch Installed

Thank you for the link -- now everything works perfectly! The other adapter I bought must have been a dud. Much appreciated!

Model Y HW4 with OEM Tow Hitch Installed

Can you post a link to the adapter you purchased? I have the exact same rack and a 2023 MYLR and haven't gotten it to work yet despite definitely being in trailer mode. Now I'm wondering if it's the adapter...

Why you should skip the powered frunk and grab a Satonic soft close frunk

I'm in Southern California, so the car has seen plenty of rain this winter for sure.

Why you should skip the powered frunk and grab a Satonic soft close frunk

FWIW been using the Teslasy version almost daily since December (installed by Tony at EVFixMe). So far so good but definitely keeping my fingers crossed.

FUSC transfer till the end of year (2023)

This is a great deal for my situation and I will be looking into it. Toughest part will be letting go of my beloved 85D but I can't ignore the fact that it is 8 years old and has 185k miles on it. With a 20k+ mile/year commute, hitting reset with a new FUSC Model Y is too hard to pass up.

    My dilemma

I have been trying to contact Recell in the past week or so via their website, phone, and direct email and am still waiting for a response. My main questions are: 1. Is there currently any kind of basic warranty on their pack upgrades, with the new "a la carte" extended warranty now being...

    New Battery or New Car?

Yes but the 100 from 057 is a reman as well. So either a reman 100 for $22k plus $3500 shipping versus a reman 85 for $15k (and no shipping). That $10k difference is not small. Plus the latter option through Tesla allows me to keep driving indefinitely, extending the useful life of my car and...

    New Battery or New Car?

Currently, I have minimal degradation and don't need more range (85 pack). So it is hard to justify replacing it at this point with no obvious issues (176k miles and counting with regular supercharging). The only 057 option available is the 100 pack upgrade for $22k, plus cost of round trip...

    New Battery or New Car?

For those of us with no battery issues so far and closing in on 8 years, how do you decide between electively replacing a functioning pack through a third party vendor (recell, wk057) and waiting until it dies to replace it (through Tesla or anyone else)? I am having a hard time with this...

    Ohmmu Model S lithium battery

I did the same at 100k miles and just passed 175k this week. Zero issues with Ohmmu. Not interested in internet arguing. It's worked beautifully for me in my climate and my commute and I'm happy with the purchase. YMMV.

Vendor Upgrade your Model S/X at 057 Tech - More range, more power!

I think the question is why or when to replace/upgrade a functioning OEM pack. I am wrestling with this right now, with an 2015 85D pack that is working well and getting ~245 miles still but coming off warranty in August. While I want to keep the car for years to come and am quite interested in...

Powerwall wifi and Liftmaster MyQ question

Got a new garage door opener recently with wifi and MyQ functionality (Liftmaster 8500W). Problem is it keeps dropping the connection to my home wifi every week or so, requiring me to set things up from scratch each time to restore MyQ functionality. I have set up an additional wifi access...

Left front wheel rubs on turns and braking

I am at 168k miles on my 2015 and am scheduled for replacement of front upper + rear control arms for the same reason (just general wear and tear, nothing acute). Did you notice any subjective improvement in ride or suspension noise after your suspension work was completed?

2015 85D post warranty: help me rank wk057 options

My factory 8 yr battery/DU warranty will be up in Aug 2023 and I am researching my options as I would like to keep the car as long as it is practical to do so. 12V Battery Problem

Just chiming in to add a data point for the Ohmmu. Had mine installed (2015 85D) @ 100k miles as a preventive measure. It has been just over 3 years and 65,000 miles since and I have had no 12V related problems at all. Very happy with the purchase.

Time to replace the P85D but not excited about any of the options

Similar situation, 2015 85D, 153k miles. Adding 100 miles daily. Everything works well. No car payment since 2018. Zero fuel costs since 2015 (free lifetime supercharging + home solar). Complaints: squeaky driver's seat, dash rattle over rough roads, ride gradually less compliant over the...

Max rebate from SCE at true-up?

My numbers are very similar to these. If these were the final numbers at true-up, is this what would happen? -Final credit = $21 (-701 kWh * $0.03) to be applied to next bill unless requested as a check. Holy crap that is terrible. Seems the best thing to do is aim for net zero kWh usage at...

Max rebate from SCE at true-up?

With two months to go until true-up, it looks like this will be my first year since 2015 being a net producer under current NEM rules. Those of us who live in Huntington Beach, Irvine, Fullerton, or Buena Park will be defaulted into a new CCE through the newly formed OC Power Authority later this year, unless we opt out and choose to stay with SCE. The OCPA energy rates have not yet been made public, but my understanding is...

Configuration of 20 Inch Wheels & Tires

Go with 21" as the 19" option consistently and noticeably overestimated vehicle speed. I used Waze to check actual MPH and the 21" option was always accurate. I also have 20" wheels on a 2015, running 245/40 tires all around.

Minimum Daily Charge vs Daily Basic Charge SCE

I switched from PRIME to 4-9PM this month as I was unhappy with the NBCs on top of the minimum daily charges. Will report back once I get my first bill in a week or so. I have 3 PWs, 2 EVs, and 1 PHEV.

    SCE generation cap exceeded?

It didn't really get resolved, for a few reasons. 1. I stopped exporting as much and shifted to self-powered 2. PTO finally happened 3. I switched rate plans twice (first to PRIME and now to TOU-4-9PM) Anyway, it didn't happen again for the reasons described. This is an evolving chess match...

    SCE: TOU-D 4-9pm or TOU-D Prime

Wanted to follow up now that I received my first full month's bill under TOU-D-PRIME. In summary: -consumed 942 kWh -generated 1284 kWh -energy credit $93.13 -Delivery charges $11.46 -NBCs $22.71 (calculated off the ~942 kWh consumption although it shows 936 kWh for some reason) -Total charge...

Makes me sad to hear many reviews of the New S complain about build quality!

Completely agree with OP. Fortunate not to have any significant issues with my 2015, but will not be looking at another Tesla when replacement time comes if the current situation does not change. No question that Tesla is tops when it comes to acceleration, range, and charging network, but for...

    SCE: TOU-D 4-9pm or TOU-D Prime

I saw that as well (NBC based off consumption) so I've shifted to using solar to charge the cars whenever I am at home during the day, and shifting to self-powered during the day outside the 4-9pm window. Wish there was an app setting for this as I am currently doing this manually. Really hating...

    SCE: TOU-D 4-9pm or TOU-D Prime

Just got my first TOU-D-PRIME bill after losing TOU-D-A. Only actual charges were daily basic charge + NBCs since I ended up with a bit of energy credit. For those who have been on PRIME for a while, do you see the NBCs (CTC, NDC, PPPC, DWR bond charge) significant exceeding the daily basic...

Continental PureContact LS vs Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus II

Apples and oranges since we use the Bolt for around town driving and the Model S for long distance freeway commuting. Both have a 70,000 mile warranty, which was a big factor for me. Our priorities may not be the same, either -- I didn't mind a small drop in efficiency for increased treadlife...

Continental PureContact LS vs Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus II

I think you'll be fine with any of those choices. Coincidentally, I have the PureContact LS on my other car (Chevy Bolt) and I love them as well, definitely more comfortable (but less efficient) than the OEM hockey pucks. Would gladly buy both the Pirelli and Continental sets again.

    Efficient tires?

At 23,000 miles now. Efficiency remains the same as before -- at least equivalent to OEM Primacy. I do keep track on the trip computer and the efficiency since the tire change is the same compared to before the tire change. Granted it is not an apples to apples comparison since I upgraded to 20"...

Trying Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus II Tires

Have these in 245/40/20 and the ride is perfectly fine. I also have a Bolt on which the ride improved significantly after we replaced the OEM tires with a different set, so I do appreciate the difference a good set of tires can make.

    2 vs 3 Powerwalls

Another vote from me to get the third. We added our third 10 months after the first two were installed and I am so glad we did. For the flexibility, peace of mind, increased storage capacity, longer potential off-grid or emergency backup runs, and maximum freedom from the negative effects of SCE...

    Is it upgrade time?

I just had this exact procedure done a couple weeks ago (at 130k miles) and am very happy with the results too. The car used to creak over speed bumps, but no longer. Had no idea this was even a thing but the service center staff recommended it based on my mileage. Back in love with my ride =)
