    2.0 / 2.5 Roadster / Roadster Sport Tire Thread

If you have AD07s at the front with plenty of life left then suggest AD08 for the back rather than mixing different brands. Seem to last a lot longer, have better grip and cheaper than AD07s at the back.

Electric window broken - sourcing parts

Thanks for above - I was busy so my local garage stripped down the door. The regulator has a Lotus logo and part no on it. Will post what the part no is when I get the car back. Thanks to da2ny for the offer of the spare at a good price - I will however source locally as I get the car back...

Electric window broken - sourcing parts

I wound my windows down yesterday but only the drivers one came back up. Its making noises when I use the switch but the window is not moving. Suspect the cable has broken. Does anyone know if the mechanism is a Tesla part only or if its from a Lotus Elise or something else? Thanks in advance!

Custom Tesla Roadster 2-Piece Slotted Rotors, NEW batch for 2019

Been meaning for ages to post a thank you to Dave as a happy customer. Received the new rotors, they look so good and well engineered that I could not decide whether to put them on the Roadster on hang them on the wall as artwork! They are now fitted and after a quite a few miles (500?) the...

    Roadster Charging

Unless you need to do a lot of miles in a short time period then its rare you need to charge at high rates and its rare you will charge from empty to full. >90% of my charging over the last 80K miles has been at 16A or 24A (220V in UK). I can charge faster but the lower rates give you a few...

Help - can not start or move Roadster

Thanks for the advice. I had to abandon the Roadster as due to drop my daughter at University. Some 5 hours later back with the Roadster and it started with no problems / errors. Drove straight home before it had a chance to complain. Will see if it starts in the morning (UK time) and then...

Let Tesla know what features or tech the Roadster should have to make it even more awesome?

Agree about the selection of colors / colours - some orange or green ones as shown in this (unofficial) Roadster color chooser: Tesla Roadster in colors

Losing maximum power in Roadster Sport - due to battery aging?

I think the power limit is due to the battery - the PEM will not allow the voltage to drop below a certain voltage per cell to prevent damage. How much current can be drawn (so hence the power) before that limit is hit depends on state of charge, temperature and internal resistance of the...

Let Tesla know what features or tech the Roadster should have to make it even more awesome?

I can agree about the cameras - the ones used for autopilot should also record so can be used as evidence in an accident. Disagree about jammers / detectors though. If you want to add them to your vehicle that is your choice but it does not send the right impression if the manufacturer fits...

Let Tesla know what features or tech the Roadster should have to make it even more awesome?

Absolutely - I have used my 2010 Roadster as a daily driver since new and it actually copes with wet roads better than a single motor Model S. The traction control allows you to floor it in any weather with confidence ( a big well done / thank you to whoever set that up) . As the car is a mix...

Tesla Says New Roadster is Fastest Production Car Ever

250mph is always dangerous on a public road (and also on a racetrack). A crash at 250mph is fatal. 0 to 60 in 1.9 (or 2.4 in a Model S) is far less dangerous provided you are not going to surprise other road users. Its also legal (and fun) unless the speed limit is less than 60...

Let Tesla know what features or tech the Roadster should have to make it even more awesome?

A wide choice of different paint colors would be nice. Tesla seems to offer a limited choice on existing models. Agree about the serious drivers car - perhaps a "club sport" type edition with a focus on handling and less on performance / range.

Let Tesla know what features or tech the Roadster should have to make it even more awesome?

Perhaps it could be the first Tesla model where you do not have to replace the supplied wiper blades with ones that actually work:-) I know it does not rain in California but it does in the UK.

ID1103 error. Lost regen, ABS and traction control

MLAUTO - are you sure its only $100 - its $350 for the part from Tesla. Its not the same as an Elise but might be the same as a VX220. Given though the roadster weighs more and has a lot more torque I would not want to fit a non-tesla supplied part unless 100% sure. Its an SKF part BAR-0106...

ID1103 error. Lost regen, ABS and traction control

Oddly I have now had this error twice. Both times it has been due to wheel speed sensor faults. The first was a extension wire on one of the front sensors coming in contact with the wheel cutting into it (its a vauxhall astra part). The second was a sensor going down which needed a new rear...

New charger install or just a 32A socket? (UK)

I am lucky enough to have a riverside holiday home on the Norfolk Broads (UK). My wife drives a Model S (85kWh) and I drive a Roadster 2.0 (53kWh) I also have an electric boat (20kWh). For charging at the moment we use an existing outdoor socket. It works OKish as we usually only have one...

ID1103 error. Lost regen, ABS and traction control

I did have aftermarket headlamps several years ago but currently have the OEM HID ones. Weekend got a bit busy so did not have a chance to look into this further. Must sort it though, without regen the range really drops.

Losing maximum power in Roadster Sport - due to battery aging?

Battery temperature often has an effect this time of year - below 20C you get less power. Suggest you also tell the car you have new tyres - grip is different in the cold so the traction control may not be optimal and this limits power.

    Xenon HID upgrade

Recently I have noticed my xenon HID lights are not as bright as they once were (official Tesla units). Turns out this is common with HID lights, after a number of hours of use they produce less and less light (2000 hours use often mentioned). There are replacement HID bulbs that claim to have...

    2.0 / 2.5 Roadster / Roadster Sport Tire Thread

The AD048s are really aimed at track day use, great dry grip but poor wet grip, short life and are very noisy (on a Roadster). I think they were the standard fit for the Roadster Sport. The AD07 LTS (LTS stands for Lotus) is less extreme but has a good balance of wet / dry grip and less...

    2.0 / 2.5 Roadster / Roadster Sport Tire Thread

Another set of Yokohama AD08R going on the back today - been really happy with AD07 LTS at the front (they last forever) and AD08R at the back - last for about 8,000 vs 4000 miles when I had AD07s at the back. Wet and dry grip from the AD08s at least as good as the 07s.

    Roadster 3.0

I always find the acceleration better when the pack is more than half charged on the Roadster (not on the Model S though). Do others find the same? Perhaps the battery upgrade will offer slightly lower 0 to 60 due to the (unknown) extra weight but in terms of real world acceleration this might...

    Manual to power steering modification?

Tesla in the UK have a Roadster with electric power steering. I think it was done by the same person who designed the double din dash for the head unit. The story I heard was that he was told by Tesla in the USA that it was not possible so he wanted to prove them wrong.

    Bosch wiper blades

Funny, it was the same with my Roadster 5 years ago - replaced the standard ones with Bosch ones and it was a huge improvement. Did the same on my Model S and another great improvement - guess it does not rain in California so they have no experience with which wipers are best :-)

Charger error 1084 DMC FW: HCS Fault

Hi Guys, Lowering the amperage - tried that (10A) but same error. Cable rating - firstly the adaptor would be for my use but I will put a note on it in case it somehow got into the wrong hands. Used with the UMC or the charger at home it would see 32A max. The UMC is rated at 40A max. I...

Charger error 1084 DMC FW: HCS Fault

Hi All, I have a old 30A charger for my Roadster(240V mobile connector 30A capable on the box) which has a blue 32A commando plug and a lunchbox sized box in the middle for the earth leakage trip / circuit to generate the pilot signal. It seems to have gone wrong - the lights around the...

UK domestic 3 pin charger lead for Tesla MS

The UMC and 13A adaptor is a more flexible solution than the (rather bulky) Mennekes lead which is limited to 10A max. 32A commando sockets are fairly common so give you a faster charge option with the 13A fallback position.

Air or coils for the UK?

No tips really - I just asked nicely and they said yes. Suspect many Model S owners would be more than happy to try a Roadster out for a few days when their car is in for a service - no harm in asking. Roadster all OK - just a service and they have kept the car for a few days to try and find...

Air or coils for the UK?

Currently have a P85+ on 21 inch with air as a loan car for my Roadster. My wife has a P85 on 19 with coils so I have been swapping back & forth. Quick summary - P85+ is a slightly harsher ride but other than that no noticeable difference in grip, steering feel or handling. Would go for 19...

    Roadster 3.0

Agree with the majority here - a huge thank you to Tesla & Elon. Even for those who do not need extra range the key point is that Tesla are continuing to support Roadster owners. We can be sure that our cars can be kept on the road for many, many years to come and if / when any of us want to...

Water in trunk (boot for us outside the USA!)

Thanks - I did not find that on search. Off to try some of this out. OK - suspect most of that is 1.5 specific as my boot / trunk floor is different. There are however things bolted through the bottom of the floor with dried out sealant / gunk around them. Might try some holt melt glue or...

Water in trunk (boot for us outside the USA!)

If I lift up the floor at the bottom of the trunk / boot to access the bit where the tool kit / tire foam etc is stored its always damp or wet. Anything I leave in the trunk gets damp / mouldy after a while. The seal around the edge of the top of the trunk looks OK so not really sure how...

    New Roadster Goodies for 2014

"Add lightness" as Colin Chapman famously said. The Model S is a car for taking long trips (comfort, range, superchargers) whilst the Roadster is more of a raw sports car. If newer technology cells can allow higher discharge rates as well as higher capacity then I would much prefer a pack...

    New Roadster Goodies for 2014

Its a shame you have had that experience, mine is very different. Tesla seem very responsive and still 1000x better than other car companies I have dealt with. It may be a local experience you have but at the top Elon has not forgotten about Roadster owners - he was talking about the...

    New Roadster Goodies for 2014

Elon gave a pep talk to the UK staff at the UK Model S launch yesterday. They were pretty tight lipped about it but suggested that its something that will be "offered / sold" rather than say a free software upgrade. When I quizzed Elon about it he said it would improve several aspects of the...

First RHD delivery in UK March 2014 - Elon Musk to delivery himself
