Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

Will the Highland refreshed Model 3 have PowerShare? I would think that Tesla would standardize going forward. A LFP standard range Model 3 is way less than a bunch of Powerwalls. In Puerto Rico, my power goes out at least once a week. Sometimes for 5 minutes, sometimes for 5 hours.

    Powerwall Automated Load Shedding?

The solution is Span® | A Smarter Electric Panel smart panel with automatic load shedding when in micro grid mode. They don't yet support installations in Puerto Rico so I might just do add enough battery for the entire house.

Dear Elon: just remove navigation from your cars

If this were 2012, Tesla would be the clear winner in proprietary nav offerings. No car company released anything that was close with even Microsoft failing with Sync 2 and other big tech efforts. It is illegal in many states to hold your phone while driving. I suppose you could have some...

    $12K for FSD is insane

When I bought FSD in 2018, EM was claiming far more than L2. "Coast-to-coast without driver intervention." Silicon snake oil. Maybe I have to wait more years for the unfulfilled promises. I am guessing it will be decades before I am not worrying about driver intervention constantly.

    Why CarPlay?

I find myself having to pick up my phone all the time to select podcasts since Tesla doesn't have a decent option. At least that is legal to do in my state.

    Want Chrome - - Undelete ! ?

Chrome delete can look good with certain colors and black rims, but chrome works better on some colors with silver rims. To mix different color rims with the other things looks unthoughtful.

Importing USA sold Tesla into Puerto Rico

I have a 2018 Model 3 that I am considering moving to Puerto Rico. It looks like there are now some superchargers on the island and a service center. I see plenty of Tesla cars in PR. I presume the car's cellular connectivity and maps would still work. Tesla will gimp models moved between...

According to the Tesla web site there is now a service center in PR: 381 Calle Juan Calaf San Juan, 00918 Anyone tried using it?

Any more superchargers on the island. Looks like there is a service center in San Juan.

    EVs in Puerto Rico

You would want to buy the EV in the US and then import it yourself. You get the Federal tax rebate and don't pay the excise tax on import to PR.

My car came with a dent that Tesla promised they would fix for free. They're dragging their feet on it.

Getting something in writing from Tesla is difficult. The Denver delivery center said flat out tha they don’t do them. I walked from two deliveries with issues because they would not even put the issues in an email.

Anyone thinking about an VW ID.4 Instead?

With the ID.4 being much cheaper than the Model Y (after tax rebate), it makes the decision easy. Plus, Carplay is a must-have feature for me. Playing podcasts on the proprietary Tesla nav sucks. Maybe things will even out if rebates come back for Tesla. At the same price, the decision would...

    Buyback for FSD Not Working?

I bought my AWD 8/2018. EM was talking about a coast to coast autonomous drive before the end of the year. What is the move of the goal posts?

    Buyback for FSD Not Working?

I am coming up on 3 years of ownership of my Model 3 and getting tired of waiting for FSD to be usable. Autopark is a joke 5 years after introduction. FSD is not anywhere near what was promised (pending validation and regulatory approval). Will I have to wait 5 years or maybe 10 years for...

Chevy Bolt - 200 mile range for $30k base price (after incentive)

    Cadillac SuperCruise better than Tesla?

This will be included on the $33K Chevy EUV. Tesla wanting $10K for perma-beta features is a little rich. With Chevy getting the $7K tax rebate, that may prompt some price changes across the EV industry. Maybe we will see the $25K Tesla sooner than we thought. I just want a cheap car and...

Dear Elon: just remove navigation from your cars

Just have to agree to disagree. Getting the USB working with game controllers and the steering wheel controls working with games is a bunch of effort. Connecting the display, speakers and mic to the phone takes no effort at all to get Carplay working. Far less work than the stupid fart app or...

Dear Elon: just remove navigation from your cars

Netflix and the games require tons of processing power. Auto/Carplay just requires a little screen real estate to window to your phone that does the heavy lifting. Tesla just wants your $10/mo or even more as they ask for FSD be added to the monthly fee. Maybe another $1/mo for heated...

Cruise control / Auto Pilot is Garbage

Tesla cannot even get autopark, auto high-beams or autowipers working after release of those features more than 5 years ago. Just make everything beta and all is forgiven. Most sell their cars before the promises are fulfilled. They should get a refund.

Dear Elon: just remove navigation from your cars

Tesla has the best proprietary nav out there. If it were 2012, I would say Tesla is perfect in that regard. Today, every other brand has embraced the phone-based nav from Apple Carplay and Andriod Auto. Paying $10/month for navigation that my phone does a better job (i.e., Waze) with is...

Model Y, no blind spot warning?

It is not just blind spot that doesn't work well, auto-park, auto-headlights, auto-wipers, summon, advanced summon, FSD, etc. are all barely passable when compared to the promised feature. Most are in perma beta. Take the auto-park for example, it was released 5 years ago, sucked then and...

    Wait for 82 kWh battery?

I wonder if the heated steering wheel and 82kWh battery are already installed waiting for a software update. Makes sense to have put the new battery chemistry in the Model Y before the Model 3 given it has shorter range.

That may be true of the California rebates. The federal tax credit was the opposite in that only those who paid enough in taxes could take advantage of them. Anyone who didn't pay $7500 in federal tax in one year was SOL. I think the Biden administration is another good reason to wait at...

With EM talking about a 430 mile battery pack, he must be talking about the 4260 structural battery. German versions are going to start out that way and I bet Texas will soon follow for the US. The osborne effect has me wanting to wait for what I am guessing will be a 100KW battery pack in...

    Adjusting without CarPlay?

I have had over a dozen EVs over the last 10 years, but am buying cars for 5 drivers at this point in my family. Adjusting without CarPlay?

    CCS Adapter for North America

Would make sense that when Tesla updated the Model X / S charge circuitry, that they would have done the same worldwide to support CCS1 and CCS2 input. If someone has a new Model 3 / Y that they imported, they should try that adapter. These same folks sell a CCS1 to CCS2 adapter. CCS1 to...

    Adjusting without CarPlay?

I agree that the Carplay tracking argument doesn't hold water. Your phone tracks you and that is where Carplay runs. When in Carplay mode, the head unit is just a display and touchscreen with your phone doing all the work. Maybe Apple has a setting for privacy since that's their thing...

    Steering wheel heater??

I leave on my jacket when I get to my car. With a seat heater and steering wheel heater, I can drive with a much lower cabin temperature. My Model 3 has a resistive heater so keeping the cabin as warm as a ICE car doesn't make sense. Toasty hands go a long way toward keeping warm.

Model Y 40% more efficient than Mustang Mach E

Since Tesla 'open sourced' their patents, the competition is free to copy whatever they want. There is a car maker in China that did just that. A fast follower doesn't need to do all the investment of Tesla, and can just copy whatever they come up with. It is much cheaper to build a product...

    Adjusting without CarPlay?

    CCS Adapter for North America

I think many will buy it too @Boeingpilot if it works for you. I doubt Tesla would sell another CHAdeMO adapter if it does. That may force Tesla to finally do their own. The Tesla adapter in Europe is much more compact than this one. But, just white labelling it would be great.

    Dc combo for USA port

I am sure Tesla can easily do it. After the retrofit issues in Europe, I bet new units were designed to easily take an adapter even in North America. They see the writing on the wall. As to why, it is simply that they want to force folks to their Superchargers. The more use they get from...

No more 7 day return policy?

Dealer prep staff spend that much time at least on each car. Since Tesla wants to push that to the buyer with less recourse, that is my plan. If this thread teaches anything about Tesla's bottom of the barrel fit/finish (according to JD Power), it is that the QC is pushed to the customer as...
