    Model 3 Mule Musings

Totally possible the red was just a body on a frame to present 3 cars for dramatic effect.... Although one would have been just fine. I wonder if the push up in time line altered any plans they had to modify the car at all. They now have almost no time to finalize the design and starting...

    Model 3 Mule Musings

The original trio of Model 3 prototypes seem to be "out there" quite a bit... Tesla certainly isnt hiding the car. A bit of a different strategy with previous releases it seems. With that said they are obviously not the finished product and changes will come. What do you guys think the Model 3...

Should I contact a service center if my Falcon Wings remain in the up position for more than 4 hours?

    Falcon Wing Door Slowly Dropping

Given that the Model X is only $5k more than an similarly optioned Model S, and it has a bit more to it than just the Falcons... I'm not sure where in the world you are getting that the doors alone add 10 or even 20 thousand dollars to the price of this car. At absolute most the doors add $5,000...

Why are people (including Elon) surprised by the number of Model 3 orders?

They just presold like 2-3x the amount of cars the company has made in total over the last 4 years in one day, and then like 4-5x the amount in a week. Not only that, but this isnt a $600 phone, its going to be a $45,000 + car when its all said and done (tax, title, license, delivery, and...

Looking Forward to the Model 3 Debut

Tough to be too mad when they are literally the reason Tesla exists and is able to make it to the production of the Model 3.
  7. L

Part 1 was awesome. Guesses for what will be in part 2?

Obviously they will have bigger battery versions, faster versions, lighting/trim upgrades, etc... But the "next level" stuff will really have to be about the Auto Pilot and the Battery I think. Everything else, while nice, isnt really "disrupting" (and I know all the kids like to disrupt, these...

Tech Issue: Threads Continuously Reloading Facebook Connect

Using Google Chrome, and whenever I'm in a thread I am getting an unusual behavior. The thread/page seems to be "reloading" every second. I see the Google Chrome reload icon cycle back and forth between the circular arrow and the X literally every second. Functionally nothing seems to be...

We want some Model 3 Leaks, renders, sketches !

I guess now this thread transitions to Mule leaks so we can spot the differences in production vs. prototype ;-) I think it goes like this... "Hey, I heard the production will have a hatch that opens fully" or "Can someone take a pic of a mule from the front so we can see if there is a HUD on...

    Percentage cancelling deposit

Well for starters if you get the most base model possible its still going to be $40,000 after tax, title, license, and delivery. No way to escape those so the "real" base price is $40k. Full Rebate will be long gone after the first wave of employees, current owners, and high optioned builds are...

We want some Model 3 Leaks, renders, sketches !

Yeah, given that I figured even the base model is out of my price range im half inclined to "go dark" and just block everything out until the CPOs start showing up... But we both know that won't happen :-)
  14. L

Another Prediction Thread: Guess the top end price

Something to remember is Tax, Title, License, and delivery fee on the car. You actually have to price it around $39k to end up at $45k (If you are buying in California, or another state with higher sales tax). The destination fee is currently $1,100 on the S/X, and the TTL is $4000 on a $40k...

We want some Model 3 Leaks, renders, sketches !

So true... Just wait until we start seeing Mules out and about. The ENDLESS complaints about the falcon wing doors not lining up on the mules was fun. I can only imagine what we will find to complain about the 3 before it even comes out... Maybe the nose cone will be it ;-)

Tesla Employees have started taking Model 3 reservations

Hope in one hand and you know what in the other... ;-) Seriously though, they havent even gotten to full production on the X 6 months after the official "launch", and who knows if theyve even started constructing the model 3 production line. Unless they have some tricks up their sleeve, I just...

Please give me a reason to buy Tesla, and thousand excuses for not buying a Jaguar.

Plenty of great reasons above, heres another one I cant WAIT for... Oil changes will be a thing of the past. Between this and my wifes car I do this 6 times a year... Now my mom is starting to get on me taking her car in so I'm at almost an oil change a month here. Combine that with all the...

Tesla Employees have started taking Model 3 reservations

Wow, 15000. didnt realize they were that big. Even if "only" 5,000 order thats going to cause a significant delay in the rollout to the gen pop. The employees obviously deserve it and I applaud Tesla for doing it, but lets be real... The rollout and initial ramp up to the 1000+ units/month time...

Model 3 is Officially Model Ξ

S for Sedan, X for crossover, 3 for their third gen platform (3rd production model as well) A name for a car doesnt really tell you anything, whereas numbers/letters actually could. BMW 3 series v 5 serious for example, you know what you are getting. A hyundai tucson or a Toyota Camry... who knows?

Tesla Employees have started taking Model 3 reservations

Model 3 release will be LATE 2017, and expect that to be very similar to the X roll out... A handful of cars to Founders. I would anticipate an early-to-mid 2018 for the highly optioned vehicles, and then a mid-to-late 2018 for the medium to lower spec'd builds Its very, very likely you have 2+...

Looking Forward to the Model 3 Debut

Same. I was dead set on getting it after my Prius lease was up in late 2018. I still will put my reservation down, but if I'm not in on the rebate... I might even do the 50%... I'll just keep saving until I have enough to buy one in 2021-2022 More likely, I Might even get a CPO after the first...

Model 3 hidden in plain sight?

Looks like a regular parking lot, could be any car really, not even a Tesla, which could account for the different look. Zero chance it's a 3 out before the reveal

Poss CPO Prices Of First Production Models

Good point, very unlikely the 3's that get the tax credit will be affected at all in that case.

Poss CPO Prices Of First Production Models

So I've been doing a lot of financial soul searching, and I just don't think getting a car that costs upwards $45k is in the cards for me. I was really, really looking to get the Base 3 (base battery, no P or D variant) with super charging and auto pilot, and I'm figuring after destination fees...

    Model 3 reveal

He simply must troll everyone and say stuff like "I am glad you all came to the picture reveal..." or "I am excited to be showing off the first pictures of the Model 3 tonight..." Would be great fun for all
  29. L

We want some Model 3 Leaks, renders, sketches !

No, its the alpha prototype of the S. Although I must say I wouldn't be mad if they ended up using that as the 3. Its quite sexy, maybe even a bit more so than the S. I wonder why they went with something different in the end. It looks a bit "Jaguar-y" so maybe thats why they changed the hood...

What is known about the Model 3 (no rumors)?

Quick hi-jack if I may, Complete battery tech newb here... Can you explain to me (perhaps like I'm 5 as the internet loves to do) why if increasing them 10% in size yields a 33% density increase (or just a generic X% size increase yields y% density increase), why dont they increase them in size...

Model 3 Sedan or Coupe? [Mar 2016 discussion from before reveal]

It will be one car, the Model 3, a sedan. Almost positive a Rep from Tesla confirmed this after an article posited that multiple variants would be shown at the event. I think it was on Elektrek but I dont have the inclination to find it right now

And you have to wait 5 years before pulling that money out without penalty.
  34. L

Tesla should only publish 5-60 times for the Model 3

Naw, the 0-60 has been the gold standard since time began... Theres no reason to change it, and doing so only draws suspicious as to why they changed it ("couldn't handle the real 0-60, I guess, huh??"). Plus, because of their instant torque electric motor they actually have the advantage from...

Model 3 Unveiling - Base Model or Maxed out version shown on stage?

There really isn't a lot that changes cosmetically from base to fully configured in the S/X. The majority of cost difference of being "fully loaded" comes from the battery, dual motors, and the Performance motor. It may have a pano roof and some nice seats that might not make it to...

    Model 3 Unveiling - March 31st!

In regards to the bare bones and the tax credit... I'm a generally frugal guy and I just dont like spending that much money on a car (Model 3 will probably be the largest splurge of my life). Drove a Corolla for 11 years, and leased a Prius for $200/month in waiting for the 3. Honestly if it...

    Model 3: $1000 reservation

Thats crazy... I use my car ~20 times a week at least (4-5 errands a day some times), not really sure how that would work with Uber. Hell, I get out of work at midnight. I could understand if everyone was working online these days, but are they? - 5 day a week job = 5 round trip rides (Just...

    Model 3: $1000 reservation

Sig Red seems to be the most talked about color by a large margin (almost no one talks about any other color really), I'd be surprised if they didn't offer it to some amount of people. Maybe something like everyone who configures in 2017, so they can update the website on Jan 1 2018 and just be...

    Model 3: $1000 reservation

I didnt realize you could buy one that came with one of those ;-) Is that a per hour rental, or you get the stripper for the life of the car?

    Model 3: $1000 reservation

$1,000 is right where I thought it would be, very nice. In it to win it on Mach 31'st Just requested to have this be one of my days off in March... Anyone else live near the Cathedral City service center?? We can split food run duties if it runs long ;-)

What the diff between a "pre-order" and an order?

Pre-order typically implies paying the full price up front, doesnt it? This is how it works in other industries at least. Sometimes a discount is offered, sometimes not. "Reservation" typcally means you are reserving your spot in line for some amount of money, but not paying the full price of...

March Model 3 Unveil just drawings? No actual car? Disappointed.

I think the "update" will be some news about how the car is not just a smaller current-gen Model S, but is coming with some new tech or something. New battery tech, will be available with new AP hardware, etc...

Report: Tesla Model 3 Could Be As Low as $25,000 With Incentives

Pure click bait... If it comes in a $35k of course after rebates it will be $25k in certain states The rebates will be gone quite fast though so its really a moot point

85 kWh battery removed from design studio

I suspect that so much news and so many articles had been about "The Tesla Model S P85D" that they didnt want to have people going to the website and not seeing it available. A non-enthusiast who just wants to check out the cool new Tesla might not know anything about why its called 85, and if...

85 kWh battery removed from design studio

Is that a new gas saving estimate ($6,800 versus the old $10,000)? Or has that been there longer than this?
  46. L

March Model 3 Unveil just drawings? No actual car? Disappointed.

Elon should start the presentation by only showing a photo just to troll everyone... Then roll out the car after. I predict a car like normal, and then "promo shots" like what you see on the model S/X pages officially released on the website is what he meant when he said that

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

Yeah in my equation I mapped out I kept my original cost basis the same instead of adjusting it... Something seemed fishy so I came here first before pulling the trigger... Very glad I did. Again, Thanks for the kick in the butt. I'd rather make a virtual mistake than a real one

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

where did I say that? I said I would accept the loss but then have 50% more shares. Not that someone would pay me 267 for my shares today.
