    Report Supercharger Damage?

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried this, but they removed the "Do you need more help" option from the Supercharger prompt (%$#@!). I had to send an email "Home Charging" prompt. I'd love a QR code and/or short URL on each stall. Maybe time for some guerrilla stickers and just do it for them!

Tesla to Inject Capital Into Model Y SUV Program, Will Leverage Learnings From Model 3

True, but there were further lessons. Like needing to totally rewrite the sub-pack assembly code. Should have caught that issue earlier. But, MY will benefit from all pack dev work, since current plan is to re-use M3 platform (thankfully!). Big question for me is Falcon Wing or no. I'd prefer...

Evacuating Hurricane Irma in a Tesla

I believe tesla.com has a Supercharger section where you can do that. Also the OMC on forums has a lot of information on contacting Tesla folks via email too. Supercharger | Tesla They have a chat feature too.

[Poll] - Who bought or will buy Model S/X 60 kwh instead of waiting?

Agreed, poll is missing the "If I can find a CPO for the right price" option. I bet that would get some votes.

Info and Hints from Elon Tweets

From Elon's Twitter Feed: Q: "Why small trunk lid instead of big hatchback like S&X? I ride a bike not a surfboard :) " A: " Only way to get enough rear passenger headroom was to move the rear roof cross-car support beam. A bike will still fit no problem." Q: "What is Model 3's aerodynamic...

    I can't imagine - What will part 2 bring?!

Here are some hopes I had posted before M≡ The Unveiling followed by summarizing what the actual Unveiling included over on TeslaMotors.com. I had hoped that.... Supercharger access explained w/ plans for expansion detailed — almost, 2x Superchargers and 4x destination chargers discussed...

    Model 3 Price Speculation

It seems that some of the prices of options will be Cost-based, and some will be Market-based. Ludicrous Mode seems like it will be mostly market-based. Because most people want as much range as possible right now, that Tesla will mostly price BP upgrades by cost. But who knows, could be all...

Model 3 Possible Configuration and Options, what will you order?

@AndreSF RC's main argument is that once you start saving weight from 20% size and smaller battery pack, there are add-on savings. @Red Sage made the same point you did when I first linked to RC's articles in the TeslaMotors forum (volkerize "Randy Carlson" for articles w/o logging into SA). I...

Looking Forward to the Model 3 Debut

According to this post/video there are going to be a glass, body color/metal, and retractable roof options: Glass roof It seemed to me that Elon said the all-glass roof would be standard. Maybe that's still the case, and you may opt for a metal one or one that opens.

Model 3 Possible Configuration and Options, what will you order?

I'll try to keep the budget around $50K after whatever incentives I can get. So any of these that fit the budget in descending order of importance. Supercharger access (TBD if this included or not) [$2K] Largest Battery [$10K] Dual-motor [$5K] Panoramic Roof that opens (test drive video...

Your Ideal Model 3 Color Configuration

I'll take the "slate" one from the Reveal w/ black/dark interior w/ a panoramic roof that opens. I don't like the wheels, but the rest of this one appeals: The silver from the Reveal comes in a close second.

Model 3 Possible Configuration and Options, what will you order?

Direct DC charging usually comes from a Supercharger. There are other DC charging solutions. Wikipedia has an entry: Charging station - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia On the condo front, you might have laws in your area that force condos to allow you to install charging infrastructure (at...

    Tesla's $200,000,000 Day!!

200K reservations is not hype or wishful thinking. Elon tweeted close to that number at 10:23AM Pacific: Elon Musk ‏@elonmusk 10:23 AM Pacific "Thought it would slow way down today, but Model 3 order count is now at 198k. Recommend ordering soon, as the wait time is growing rapidly."...

    Glass roof

It provides both a sense of space and actual space. The cross-beam center support is just behind the front row. So it's completely out of the way. A lift/hatchback would not be possible. Remember how much drag was better for the Model X too. The glass will block out the worst of the sun, and you...

Model 3 Possible Configuration and Options, what will you order?

FYI - SuperChargers don't use a charger in the car, it's direct DC to the battery pack. So you will get a charger in your car for just about everything else.

Will there be a Sport version of Model 3?

Ummm, the Model S has dual motors. Why wouldn't the Model ≡? It adds performance and handling (as well as redundancy, but that use case is pretty rare). The Audi S4 Quattro has all-wheel-drive too. You may not feel it is necessary, but w/ the instant torque and control offered by a Tesla drive...

Model S potential buyers - what are you waiting for?

@Mike K. I don't think it's the price of the car that is holding up iOS integration (IOS is a Cisco trademark). Ford can afford to license the tech. because they can spread the cost over millions of cars not 50,000. A simple, low-tech headphone jack would suffice for me. Then I could get a Sony...

Q for the Lucky Folks who Own Two Teslas

Another point to consider is how often you have a cold soaked battery pack in the morning or ice on the car. If you have either being likely, then having a way to charge the car to pre-condition it is very important. Electricity is not just for driving.

All Discussion re: Tesla Motors Website & Forums

While they were not searchable directly, using Volkerize/Google site searches worked fine. It's just not obvious to non-technical folks. That's why J.T. and I tried to keep instructions on doing just that at or near the top of the main sections. I hope this is just a temporary thing, but I see...

    SuperCharger Use Map

While all of the above is true and to the point, I wanted to address some of the more technical aspects. Tesla knows all of this information: - Current state of charge - If someone is in the driver's seat - What the target charge level is They even know what the likely estimated time of...

    Signature or Production

I'm with you on the $20K for Signature reservations. So if the 30% also holds that would mean... 20K = 30% * X and so X is about $65K. I hope you'd get red calipers for that

Attn Tesla! Preorders for those who already own or have on order!

@bonnie was indeed a proponent of a "Builder" first version for employees. Talk about giving incentives for getting the first ones done! I believe JB was cited in that thread, I'm doing a quick iPad read or I'd look it up.

Is Tesla planning to release two models at once?

I don't think the MS demand caused the MX delay. I think they folded in the 'D' to the MS to fill the gap while they battled w/ MX delays. It also had the benefit of increasing performance and efficiency while also putting real miles on the drivetrain for the MX. I am with the hopeful...

How much of a deposit do you think will be required?

I think you can have both. You are making the leap from the Model ≡ Signature is a loaded, more expensive (therefore exclusive) choice to the fact that the press and others will misconstrue the Signature price as the base price. Therefore Tesla is elitist. I understand that some are concerned...

Would you buy a Model 3 with no Battery?

My pleasure. I've posted on this several times over at TM forum. I understand why some don't want to use this option, but if they can make it work (storage, capex and financial exposure) seems like a useful one to me. I especially like the idea of upgrading for long trips.
  35. JeffreyR

Would you buy a Model 3 with no Battery?

Frees up cash for other options Allows me to temporarily upgrade for long trips Car is lighter, more efficient, and nimble around town Lets Tesla sell more cars People who are lease averse can still buy Protects me against battery tech jumps Sounds like a nice option.

    Signature or Production

@jkk_ asked what's the difference between production and Signature cars (assuming MS and MX inform M≡)? That information is definitely floating around the Interwebs. From memory you'll get: 1) most option boxes checked 2) special Signature Red (maybe others) paint option 3) Carbon fibre...

FAQs regarding reserving Model 3 when it is revealed.

@LoL Rick asked, "[Does] anybody know how to get invited [to the Model ≡ reveal]?" That is the question on everyone's mind on this topic! Folks that were invited to the Model X reveal may have an idea, but I doubt there is a hard and fast rule. I would work w/ your local Gallery and see what...

Carpool to Tesla HQ party Saturday Night

I am game for carpooling. I have a car that will fit four adults (five in a pinch), though the person behind my 6'4" body will have a bit less leg room. I also know a local limo service (my ex's best friend). I can see if they are booked for Saturday night.
