Tesla Forcing Slacker to Stream in Low Quality?

Since early November a number of people are having problems with Slacker streaming (buffering and connection errors). Tesla has acknowledged the problem and informed us that a firmware update is forthcoming. For a couple of days now, I noticed that the problem has gone away (without a firmware...

    Slacker radio stuttering?

    AT&T Velocity for Dashcam?

For the dashcam itself, you can use the available power connector in the "ceiling" of the car, above the grille. For the hotspots, you can run power from the OBD connector or another option is When to know if a switched 12V is On or Off?

    AT&T Velocity for Dashcam?

Anybody using the AT&T Velocity (ZTE MF923) for remote access to a dashcam? Can it be used around-the-clock (24x7) without hanging/freezing and having to be power cycled (turned off/on again)? The AT&T Unite and the ZTE Mobley hang/freeze after a couple of days of use and need to be power...

Blackvue DR650GW-2CH Interferes with Charge Port Opening

Thank you for your comments. Adding some additional comments of my own: - As confirmed by Tesla, the antenna that receives the RF signal to open the charge port is located on the left edge of the rear windshield. - Based on my experiments, the antenna that sends the RF signal...

Blackvue DR650GW-2CH Interferes with Charge Port Opening

I have a Blackvue DR650GW-2CH dashcam installed in my Feb '15 S85D. After much experimentation, I have unequivocally proved that the DR650GW-2CH interferes with the RF signal sent from the Tesla charging cable to the Tesla Model S to command the car to open its charge port. With the camera...

Home HPWC & Charge Port Mystery

Here is the mystery: 1) My home HPWC consistently opens Model S's with the old (not auto close) charge port (I tried with two loaners) 2) My home HPWC intermittently (as in rarely) opens the charge port on my Feb '15 Model S (with the newer auto close charge port) 3) My car's charge port...

ZTE Mobley - WiFi Hotspot - Need Help from OBD2 Experts

Here is what I currently know about the At&t ZTE Mobley: 1) Fact -- Firmware VM6200V1.0.1 has a new "No Time Out" option 2) Apparently, AT&T controls when new firmwares are pushed to the devices. There is no way for you to manually update it. 3) Fact -- ZTE Mobley with firmware VM6200V1.0.1...

ZTE Mobley - WiFi Hotspot - Need Help from OBD2 Experts

Sorry I can't help. When I got mine, back in August, setting up was a breeze. My problem is that it turned off after two hours of the car being turned off. I returned it after a couple of days.

    TeslaFi.com

James, I know that this is not the primary objective of TeslaFi, but now that evmote is dead, it would be great if you could add IFTTT integration. More specifically, allow someone to use the IFTTT Maker channel to "call" TeslaFi via a web request to (1) wake the car and (2) turn on HVAC. Thanks!

ZTE Mobley - WiFi Hotspot - Need Help from OBD2 Experts

I am on AT&T and, therefore, can comment only on AT&T devices. The ZTE Mobley turns itself off 2 hours after the car is turned off. I have contacted them suggesting a firmware change to keep it constantly powered on (and they apparently liked the suggestion) but have not implemented it (I...

ZTE Mobley - WiFi Hotspot - Need Help from OBD2 Experts

I got an AT&T ZTE Mobley WiFi Hotspot to remotely access my Blackvue using its Cloud capability. The ZTE Mobley fits nicely in the OBD2 connector, stays out of the way and works OK. The price is right (zero with a contract, $100 otherwise) and service is only $10/month (on a Mobile Share...

Paintless Dent Removal -- Any Recommendations in NJ?

I finally had a chance to work on this. I brought my Model S to Home in Westfield, NJ and Raul did a great job. As expected it is not perfect (as expected, if you look really closely, the paint surface scratches are still there) but the dent itself is gone. As compared to the Tesla-certified...

Yet Another Self Install of the Blackvue DR650GW-2CH

UPDATE -- I've tried the AT&T Unite Pro for two weeks and do NOT recommend it because it is not happy staying on 24x7. I am currently using a Cradlepoint CBR 400 with an AT&T USB stick and have found the combo to be way more stable than the AT&T Unite Pro. Given that the Cradlepoint CBR 400...

Blackvue 650 2 ch cloud questions

The Blackvue has two "connectivity" modes: 1) In what they call they "WiFi" mode, the camera continuously acts as a WiFi access point, broadcasting its own SSID. You need to be in close range to the camera, and it is a pain on iOS devices because you need to switch to the camera's WiFi network...

    OBD Port Voltage

Yet Another Self Install of the Blackvue DR650GW-2CH

Having the AT&T Unite Pro connected to the cigarette light adapter is not a good option. Although it has an internal battery, my daily driving time is not enough to charge it. I am planning to connect it to the OBD port and velcro it to the underside of the dashboard.

Blackvue Cloud Again, having the Blackvue act as an WAP and have my iPhone be a "client" to the camera seems like a very clunky solution to me. So, I am leveraging the Cloud service and have: 1) Blackvue connected to an AT&T Unite Pro in car 2) iPhone connected to the Internet via any usual...

12V Battery Charged While Car Parked?

That explains it. Thanks much. I knew that the 12V battery was charged from the main battery, I knew the main battery disconnected when you park, I did not know the main battery connected itself periodically, with the car on park, to charge the 12V one. Thanks again.

12V Battery Charged While Car Parked?

    7.1 auto-steer drives like it's drunk?

I do find 7.1 to be less "safe" than 7.0 per prior comments in this thread. In 7.0, the car would work hard to stay in the middle of the lane and that would cause it to sort of wobble. In 7.1, the car slowly drifts from edge to edge of the lane, getting too close to cars in the other lanes.

How Long for Car to go to Sleep? (API)

Ryan. Thanks for adding this to your list. On a "tactical" basis, could you maybe add the Wake command to your list of available HTTP calls. I could use IFTTT or something similar to keep the car awake in those periods when I am more likely to need it to be awake. Thanks. Antonio.

How Long for Car to go to Sleep? (API)

Interesting. Thanks for your replies. The context of my original question was related to the use of the API. When the car is asleep, it doesn't respond/act on API calls/commands. I had not realized that the car being asleep (from an API perspective) is correlated with the car being asleep...

Ryan, I am a happy user of eVmote's IFTTT integration. More specifically, I leverage Amazon Echo --> IFTTT --> EVMote ---> Tesla and tell Amazon Echo to turn on Climate Control when I am about to leave the house in the morning. The caveat is that this does not work when the car is asleep. In...

Any way to keep nav app from overriding left instrument panel app?

Same here! I like to keep the Trip app on the right and the Energy app on the left. I like that if you override the left navigation with an app, you still get the pop up turn instructions. I feel that once you override it, the car should remember that setting.

Retaining Heated Steering Wheel Setting from Trip to Trip

The Model S "remembers" the seat heater setting from trip to trip but turns off the heated steering wheel at the end of every trip. This means that, during the winter, at the beginning of every trip, we need to select Controls/Controls/Cold Weather/Steering Wheel to turn it back on. Also, it...
