Paint flaws on brand new March 2024 Model Y, Deep Blue Metallic color

You can swap as many vins as you want but you'll find most cars are like this. It's a function of the value engineering. Why paint the inside of the door sills that cannot be seen when the doors are closed? Feels a bit crummy but as an engineer I come to respect the value engineering behind the...

    Accident on 1st Day :(

Nightmare fuel right here. Condolences. It's a crap shoot because it being totalled might mean you'll need to cover the initial depreciation (unless you have gap). If it's not totalled, likely never to be exactly like new. Geeze this sucks.

Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

If you are in the Asian market maybe you'll see them driving around in March. If you are in the US this won't be available to purchase until this time next year. Just look at how the Highland launch is running. Still can't buy one here in the states.

New Blue MYLR (almost perfect) small paint defect

Just picked up last night. Was dark and rainy. After reviewing paint I found this spot. Read a bunch of threads on not letting tesla touch paint. Couldn't find an example of this though. Otherwise the car is immaculate. Inclined to just let it be but such a weird defect. Don't want it to be a...

anyone can guess when the pre-Jupiter mini update will happen?

Your guess is as good as ours. I will say that the rollover to 2024 VINs has been strangely delayed in the US. It might have something to do with the mini-update. Perhaps this points to just around the corner?

Credit Unions with good rates that accept applicants anywhere within the US?

What did they want for down-payment or was that up to you?

Discussion: Model 3 and Y price drop Jan 2023 / April 2023 / Oct 2023 and All other Pricing Speculation going forward

Is there a lag in these inventory numbers? If one hits the purchase button does this impact the inventory or is the inventory only impacted when one takes delivery?

If tesla offered 0% financing and the ability to defer the tax credit (let you pay after the first of the year) they would clean this quarter up. One can only wish. On another note it appears the inventory trackers are all offline. I think Elon is onto us....

Unless you can time travel to exactly one year from now, no this is not the Juniper update.

Tax credit 2023 [The tax credit discussion thread]

From what I have heard, the Y battery is manufactured at Giga Nevada. Anticipation is that the MYLR should keep the full rebate. The RWD model I don't believe will. That said, any of this could change. The government could just up and decide to end the credit. We will know when we get there.

About to buy my first Tesla. What shoud I look out for?

Where did you see the US tax credit is expiring at the end of the year? Information I have says the battery sourcing impacts if you get the full amount next year. LR has a Giga Nevada battery and should retain the full credit. Also in 2024 it becomes a point of sale discount. The RWD battery...

They are referring to a recent pricing actions not so thing in the pipe. Just have to keep an eye out. There is a price tracker sheet out there. Tesla Car Price History You can also look at the tesla-info.com site for inventory levels. My unprofessional read is that we are seeing inventory (MY...

    November/December Waiting Room

Consensus seems to be that the MY is not likely to lose the credit. In fact after the new year it becomes a discount at point of sale. A bigger benefit to those who finance.

It does make sense when you look at US inventory. X inventory is trending stagnate to down. Y inventory is tending up. Tesla has made their bed being value engineering and high margins. They will get cozy with margins to ride the storm out.

Yeah this is the answer here and wouldn't be surprised if Elon exercises this to push demand. A low (or zero) interest loan effectively is a price reduction since they will have to hand over some cash to Wells Fargo and whoever funds their loans. It does however preserve value for existing...
