Free Destination Charging: 50x L2 80A Stations @ Caltech, Pasadena, CA

No need to bookmark....160 chargers already full every work day....average 2MWh delivered per day. Each color is a different floor of the same parking lot. We will be starting several 300-400+ port installs in the same garage soon.

Usually $3k a port when 30+ ports. Lots of grants in California, sometimes we can get it done for net $0.

The RPi chargers were ones I built in my garage, mainly to submit our patents and demo the technology. Since then we have been using AeroVironment, ClipperCreek, and Tesla HPWCs. So sadly the RPis will all be removed in the coming weeks. 48A+ L2 charging will be available once we finish the next...

Seeking advice: Assigned Parking in Condo

If you are in PGE territory and it looks like you are, have your HOA check out PGE's Charge Network program. PGE will cover the majority of the cost and poof you will have a lot of stations. This is 18 stations for an apartment building in mountain view, that I think only has 18 apartments...

Yes it’s alrady dynamic pricing depending on Real-time solar production. In addition you can opt in to 100% renewable source, but at a higher rate.

We were planning to deploy a kiosk, but so far we haven't had an issue with smartphone access. Or just go re-plug the car every 40 miles...lol.

Free Destination Charging: 50x L2 80A Stations @ Caltech, Pasadena, CA

max speed is 32A, we are still evaluating 48A and 80A hardware, no one has anything cost effective. We are focused on workplace charging which means increasing station count is more important than max charging speed. We would rather have all 100 EVs plug in and not have employees move their car...

We always install 80amps...I’m often disappointed by 32amp HPWCs.

Free Destination Charging: 50x L2 80A Stations @ Caltech, Pasadena, CA

Not at this location due to privacy concerns...other sites yes. We're going to try to hit 150 chargers by the end of the year. Infrastructure can easily handle that as its hovering around 150kW peak and ~3,000 miles delivered per day.

Free Destination Charging: 50x L2 80A Stations @ Caltech, Pasadena, CA

Quick Caltech update, daily EVs have been increasing! So to satisfy the demand, we've added another 22 stations this week.

Quick update...we've developed a mobile app for user input @ Caltech...It includes predictive charge curve Depending on your urgency and dynamic pricing, you can see how we plan to deliver that energy before departure time. We are delivering over 3000 EV miles a day now, which I guess...

Time of Use Power Shifting for Powerwall 2

Pw2 is simpler... but still to many items to install... Also they are still limited to 200A ATS.

Time of Use Power Shifting for Powerwall 2

Time of Use Power Shifting for Powerwall 2

apparently self powered mode is only available if you install the solar CTs...I have to get them to come back to do that. Is it possible to install the solar CTs on a dummy circuit and then use that to trigger self-powered mode?
  32. M

Time of Use Power Shifting for Powerwall 2

Just got my two powerwalls installed last week...and without load shifting this thing is useless? Are people manually shutting off their main during the day to use their powerwalls during the day? Install an ATS in front of their ATS to simulate grid disconnect? LOL I think I am in the boat...

Tesla Wall Connector load sharing protocol

Hmm, maybe. Easiest way to tell is to get another HPWC and see if those messages come across...we see them every 10 seconds or so.

Tesla Wall Connector load sharing protocol

Yay! I am glad you got it working. Did you see the voltage and cumulative energy counters?

Tesla Wall Connector load sharing protocol

1f40 is pilot but usually not in that location. The slave command you are sending seems to be similar to what is received after a reset is sent. Make sure to maintain the heartbeat, the whole time. We also see messages once a second during a charge session. Makes sense as if another car plugs...

Tesla Wall Connector load sharing protocol

    Should have gone with the $5 USB adapter...=) Why do you have a 40 in the command below? Switching HPWC rotary switch to 8 (40A master mode), I fake a message from a slave with 0A 51 id: C0 FD E2 0A 51 45 1F 40 00 00 00 00 00 00 E1 C0 FE

Tesla Wall Connector load sharing protocol

The master tells the slave how much power is available. The slave will announce it's status...interestingly enough, the master does't reveal too much to the slave what it is doing. When the units are first powered on, there are some rapid fire redundant messages, probably to establish...

yes over rs-485, raspberry pi + USB RS485 adapter works well for residential single HPWC control

Free Destination Charging: 50x L2 80A Stations @ Caltech, Pasadena, CA

Only when they don't power limit. Supercharging speeds have been horrendous lately. I'm not sure I buy the fear of battery degradation part. There's too much time spent at 70kw speeds when it should be over 100kw. We need convince delta to make a 150kw ccs to tesla adapter. :)
  42. M

Free Destination Charging: 50x L2 80A Stations @ Caltech, Pasadena, CA

No hardware upgrades needed. Just overclock it :) 150kw will be multi dispenser. Adaptive load balancing.

Free Destination Charging: 50x L2 80A Stations @ Caltech, Pasadena, CA

1 hour is the default set by the manufacturer, but then we asked them to override that to make it unlimited. Is this recently that you tested this? We're looking to add 150kW stations, so I guess soon you won't even have to wait 1 hour.
  44. M

Free Destination Charging: 50x L2 80A Stations @ Caltech, Pasadena, CA

We don't have a time limit, but there might be a 1 hour default from the manufacturer...I'll have to see.
