Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

Nice improvements. I updated last night too, from 2024.2.7. Looking forward to trying the lights tonight. Can confirm the wipers haven't improved, they were busy dry wiping randomly throughout the commute to work on a dry morning until I turned them off.

Electric vehicle rebate and 'ute tax' killed off in December 2023

Nonsense. We pay for it. And I'm not sure what makes you think our grid is struggling. It isn't. Nor will the update at projected rates cause it significant problems either - I think most lay people for various reasons vastly underestimate the daily load of industry in comparison, and vastly...

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

I thought the wiper performance on 2024.2.6 was actually an improvement (well, sometimes actually a little too slow to start). But on .7 mine too randomly decide to wipe and under what amounted to a heavy mist this morning they're whizzing away flat out until I resort to manual. Seems a...

    Tesla Wellington - WOF?

Just select service->other and explain you're after a WOF in Wellington.

    Model 3 AWD Tyre Life

I'm very skeptical of those reports since they neglect to identify the tyre(s) tested, which makes me suspect they're the el-cheapo budget variety rather than a decent one. IME Michelin UHP variety don't fall off near the end of their life anything like that dramatically. That said, I always...

    Model 3 AWD Tyre Life

I'm not sure I can comment, I have 17k so far on the Hankooks that came with my LR, and likely will get to 30k (and I'm not going to be too upset when the time comes to replace them as I want to put something better on). Which is the best tyre life I've had in years (well, apart from the Subaru...

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

Oh, I misread that. I'm also on 2023.32.7 which has the same release notes... Typo? I think the next release branch will be 2023.38.

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

I got that a couple of days ago... Not noticed any difference so far. "Version improvments" is a suitably nebulous term.

PWS retrofit on pre-2023 Model 3 in NZ

Thanks, that's reassuring. I don't mind reverse being louder, it's probably a good thing really. I'll raise a service request shortly and go from there.

PWS retrofit on pre-2023 Model 3 in NZ

Food for thought, thank you. I prefer the silence myself but want to make things safer around the driveway, and I've found in a few car parks & parking buildings things can be a bit dicy at times with pedestrians. The remote audio doesn't bother me too much so I wonder if a lower volume...

PWS retrofit on pre-2023 Model 3 in NZ

I'm looking at gettting the PWS fitted to mine. How are you finding it so far? I'm interested to know if it's audible inside the vehicle (with the windows up, obviously). I'm wondering if if might get annoying in slow crawl stop/start traffic situations.

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

Interesting. Evidently a few gremlins around still. I've also found a change in cruise control set speed behaviour. I used to have it set to engage with current speed, but with a value still in the offset field (that can only be changed with 'engage at speed limit' selected. This meant that I...

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

Installed 2023.32.4 on Saturday; apparently a bugfix / minor improvement release. Cameras seem clearer to me. Also the touchscreen stopped responding to touch on the way to work this morning (Nav display, speed etc still worked though along with steering wheel controls). Ok after a reboot...

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

Hate it when that happens. You've tried a reboot, no doubt? Maybe resort to a power off and on?

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

Things I've noticed on 2023.26.7: Spotify app is much improved. Handles long playlists much better (I've a list with 340 in it, previously half the time I'd only get to see maybe half of it); the page toggling on long lists is a little awkward though. Not sure the changes to automatic...

Model 3 Air con not fully functioning

Hmm. I'd be skeptical about that story myself. I'dve thought that if Auto did any sort of calibration on that it would likely happen in the first few seconds. And should also happen in manual really. Is there any change at all when you adjust fully up or down?

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

No, it was a problem with the Australian ISP (I raised a service request relating to this and had a phone chat with the service guy, see also the thread on the FB owners club page)... Auckland should already be fixed, 'mid-October' for everyone else. Shame we don't have NZ Sim cards and go...

Slow GPS routing and app connection

Yes I've found map routing slow lately too, whether connected via LTE or wifi. (Incidentally It looks like they've been working on the AU ISP issue as I'm [often] getting better data throughput via LTE). Not sure if it was the last update that did that though, or could be an upstream server thing.

    EV electricity plans

For where I am Meridian's EV plan (which has off-peak from 9pm to 7am) was initially a little high on their initial quote but turned out the cheapest overall after I went back with Contact's numbers (a little higher day rate but the night rate worked out well).

    Trying to understand indicator logic

No, I've not come across that one.

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

Same... I probably cant't feel too aggrieved having had the car for three weeks, but I'm looking forward to being able to relocated the blind spot cameras.

    Trying to understand indicator logic

Thanks both! That should have occurred to me to try 🙃. I had to pop out at lunchtime and since it was sunny I had occasion to lower the windows - which were also all very laggy on the controls... Soft reboot seems to have resolved both things 🤞.

    Trying to understand indicator logic

Yes, that's what I expect but it's not always what I get. Really I was just wondering if what was happening to me was expected behaviour or not, and it would seem not.
  24. Steve_Chch

    Trying to understand indicator logic

That was my initial thought too, but it's something I've been careful with since noticing this (and a conscious quick flick after getting the single flash results in another single flash). I've not been able to replicate it when parked. But now I'm wondering if being new the switch is a little...

    Trying to understand indicator logic

I've found that most of the time, my Model three will give me three-flashes on a half press / nudge of the indicator stalk. Which is quite nice and behaviour I'm used to. Sometimes though, it only gives a single flash and I either need to hold it halfway or fully deflect the stalk for more...

Update for waiting Model 3 buyers

Haha, I know the feeling! I picked up mine today one day shy of 6 months from ordering. Very pleased so far

Update for waiting Model 3 buyers

Yes, I've been looking at the EAP and need to decide if the features warrant it for me... Or if the acceleration boost might take first priority. Decisions, decisions.

Update for waiting Model 3 buyers

Picking up mine on the 11th. Felt like a long wait since February! Still, since I got backed into in a car park last weekend I'm a little glad it didn't come earlier..

Model 3 Delivery situation in New Zealand

Haha, our worst beer is pretty grim and I grew up on the stuff! Fortunately we're improving on our options there. I grew up down south and spent quite a lot of time around Queestown and Fiordland, and Dunedin for holidays and they are special places. I've not yet made it to the USA but some of...

Search is useless, need cleaning stuff where is best?

The main active ingredient is Ammonium Bifluoride (strong acid), and yes it can dissolve water spots on your paint. There are a few important caveats. If the water spots have been there for a while, they'll have etched into the clearcoat anyway and will thus require polishing to remove, so...

Model 3 Delivery situation in New Zealand

Indeed; haven't had my camera out for quite a while so it might be a good excuse to blow the dust off it & see if it still works :).

Model 3 Delivery situation in New Zealand

Yeah, it's now en route to Lyttelton. The lyttelton port schedule has it arriving on the 1st at 05:45, but vesselfinder suggests the 31st 17:00 so it'll be interesting to see which is right. Not that I'm impatient at all...

Search is useless, need cleaning stuff where is best?

Lol! Yeah it might've got a little out of hand... I'm an electronics technician, when I start learning about something I sometimes don't know when to stop, and then I can't dial it down again 🙃. I have it down to a pretty streamlined process though, I time-budget 90mins for a full exterior...

Search is useless, need cleaning stuff where is best?

I'm sure that this is one of those subjects that everyone has their ideas and opinions on... But I'll chime in since I accidentally went a fair ways down the detailing rabbit-hole a while ago :) Detail Depot and United Car Care are both pretty good places generally. Carpro (detail depot) is...

Model 3 Delivery situation in New Zealand

I have the same delivery estimate (Feb 12 order date). The VIN won't be visible until we get the final invoice, but based on your EDD you'll have one you just need to look for it. Try a 'view source' on your order page and search for LRW and you'll find it. Not that it'll make the car arrive...

Update for waiting Model 3 buyers

I've an EDD 4-18 Aug. I suspect there'll be a bottleneck getting cars distributed around the country, and perhaps they're prioritising that based on order date.

Update for waiting Model 3 buyers

/Delurk.. At last! VIN assigned; OD mid Feb for LR MSM. Better start chasing the sparky to install my wall connector that's been sitting in the box since then.
