Sound system lost it's "punch" after latest update

The point is our cars sounded good as is, then sounded like crap all of a sudden with seats not changing

I listen pretty much only on Slacker and it sounds like crap

Sound system lost it's "punch" after latest update

When I first got my Model 3 in October, system sounded great. Then I noticed i was having to turn the sound up WELL past 50% to hear the same volume. Thought it was just my imagination. Then I noticed the quality sounded like crap... (better than alarm clock, but I agree with that analogy)...

No AWD for Model 3 until next year confirmed

I think the reason then went with a basic version was not just because it's easier and they didn't want to sticker shock some with the addons. It was because they knew a lot of us would NOT order a non awd or non larger battery / performance version. It's their way of being able to come...

Should Tesla allow this level of customization?

I know all that. I stated my thoughts that SOME may want to adjust. You don't, so that's great, but I don't appreciate your condescending "These are cars, not tweaking toys." There are many things in all cars, including Teslas that are incremental. Just because you don't want it, doesn't...

How many kWh can they squeeze into the Model 3...?

You're correct, I shouldn't have said "moving parts." But fewer parts (layers) that are required with Cathode/Anode style batteries.
  7. scott jones

Should Tesla allow this level of customization?

It's not useless if you care more about how it feels when it decelerates or "coasts" or how much you do or don't want put back in. Some people like to coast like an ICE vehicle. The feel of regeneration is a turn-off for many and there's a huge difference with and without it. I personally like...

How many kWh can they squeeze into the Model 3...?

yea, I know, so I'm wondering why wouldn't they be thinking about it, as it erases MANY of the concerns of conventional batteries. With FEWER parts and (apparently less expensive, due to complications), I would think that's the next leap, not how many layers and crap you can jam into a current...

How many kWh can they squeeze into the Model 3...?

I believe if Elon and JB are the innovators in new battery useage... at least new in cars, they will go with SOMETHING ENTIRELY DIFFERENT. The current battery tech requires layering for cooling purposes, etc. That drastically limits what it can do. I'm just wondering how closely they are...
  10. scott jones

Should Tesla allow this level of customization?

There are only 2 choices of regeneration on the Tesla. And this lets you do it by percentages, which is far more specific. I don't recall the Tesla's turning off completely at 100% charge, but I'll take your word for it, as I rarely charge to that amount. I used it as much for "brake helping"...
  11. scott jones

Should Tesla allow this level of customization?

Being able to change the brake regeneration is awesome!! And front to rear wheel torque is beyond helpful. It looks very user friendly and obviously it's not just a low end machine as it pulls on the Ferrari. Beautiful car inside and out.

    Rimac Automobili Concept_One

WOW!!! Customization is amazing. I really love how you can customize the exact amount of regenerative breaking. I love the Tesla but the interactive abilities of your Rimac are incredible and I'm guessing that part isn't what costs a lot of money so others could do it as well. Regardless...

    P100D for Sale Now

Why is the KM so much different? I know it seems small but 0-60mph in 2.5, but it takes 2 tenths of a second more to go 2 mph more? 100km is 62.1 mph. The car is really accelerating at 60, so to go to 62.1 shouldn't take two tenths of a second more.

    How does 100d get 380 miles when 90 doesn't do 300.

Yea it was just the 380 or 613km that made no sense with a 100, but that's their overly optimistic guess
  15. scott jones

    How does 100d get 380 miles when 90 doesn't do 300.

    That makes more sense
  16. scott jones

    How does 100d get 380 miles when 90 doesn't do 300.

Yes I realize it's not epa, but what IS apples to apples is 380 v 315 using the SAME chart I showed in the link. That's 65 mile difference. And now that I actually did the math, it's almost 21% better with a battery that's 11% bigger.
  17. scott jones

    How does 100d get 380 miles when 90 doesn't do 300.

According to this link the 90 gets 509 km or about 315 miles and the 100 gets 613 km or 380. That's still about 25% more Tesla 100 kWh battery pack receives European approval, P100D likely
  18. scott jones

    How does 100d get 380 miles when 90 doesn't do 300.

The European news of the approval of a 100d on their roads shows 100 at 380 miles. (From memory) If it's only 10% more he does the mileage improve 30%? I realize it's estimated and the car battery may be different but 295 to 380?

Center Stack Touchscreen Speculation -- Adjustable?

True, BUT those cars don't have autopilot, where you want to see what's left, right, front, back etc. Speed is a quicker check, that doesn't always matter, especially in cruise control. Regardless, I think if they're going to have autopilot available, which Elon says will be, it'll have to...

Wait for 2.0 or buy now

Because it'll need new hardware, I'd wait. I believe the value of AP 1.0 cars will drop, as they did quickly on non awd / non auto pilot cars. Those things couldn't be added on, like a software update. Nor will 2.0 stuff be able to be added on, if it means hardware changes, new placements...
  21. scott jones

Center Stack Touchscreen Speculation -- Adjustable?

Either way, there WILL be a center display through the steering wheel. There's no way they are going to put auto pilot on a car, and make you look to the right, let alone your speed. Even if it is on the far left corner of that screen, that's dangerous to look right for basic driving functions...

    Front End... Hmmmmmm

i like everything but the front fat lip look. Much prefer that specific smaller nose cone look
  23. scott jones

    Front End... Hmmmmmm

I would agree. It looks much better with the plastic black. The other looks like fat lips for a front. Plus, you could tell everyone, that's where are the sophisticated electronics are beaming out of... etc etc. And it could be used for a camera that COULDNT see through solid plastic.

Poorly researched "news" stories. As a news anchor, I'm tired of it

Yes they do have a very tiny market share. But note I wrote "a growing market share." ICE manufacturers have noticed that increasing share. And ever since the announcement of a mass market vehicle (model 3), the pushback of anti Tesla stories has ramped up. We aren't just hearing every...

Poorly researched "news" stories. As a news anchor, I'm tired of it

Actually I've never read on air one fire story about the Volt. I have read stories about: Teslas batteries, door handles, summoning feature, fires, and many about autonomous features. Stories regarding most brands... Even if they result in hundreds of deaths, rarely last more than a one day...

Poorly researched "news" stories. As a news anchor, I'm tired of it

Thanks. I wrecked it April 1 of last year... Totaled! Yes, on April Fools day. Early early morning, other driver had no lights at all on the highway. I braked while changing lanes as I noticed him...spun, hit the cement divider. I was mostly fine. I've read all the responses just to let you...

Poorly researched "news" stories. As a news anchor, I'm tired of it

It seems ANY day there can be a story that's perceived as negative for Tesla, I'm reading the script on our morning news. I have to correct and change them all the time as they seem to be full of opinion, and are slanted. I have no doubt they are copied stories from magazine and newspaper...

What will separate S from 3?

Agreed... Or at least the S will lose a far greater share. I and several Tesla owners have discussed buying a model three versus a model S all of us plan to buy a model three. I personally think it looks better with sharper lines and that awesome Glass windshield plus it will be much lighter...

When to order before supposed price increase

The price will not go up unless there are new features added especially with news of a $35,000 model three that has very competitive features and a nicer, more futuristic glass roof top (imo) at half the price. Base 3 v base 70
  33. scott jones

So what does the M3 mean for the MS?

Agreed AND And from what Elon says the base model three is not much different in speed then the model S 70
  34. scott jones

So what does the M3 mean for the MS?

It was dark blue until I crashed it ironically I crashed it April 1 last year and have been driving my Genesis ever since waiting for the refresh of the s or the 3. Maybe one of them will have wipers that don't suck with automation :) I'm already reserved for three but we'll see what happens
  35. scott jones

So what does the M3 mean for the MS?

    I Love that color blue

    The Tesla dashboard design team

Has anyone stated this yet? What about them doing this with the option of also putting it in a center screen where drivers currently look (past steering wheel) and that option or a HUD would be another two or $3000. And by doing so they can almost guarantee A price tag minimum of $38,000 instead...
  37. scott jones

    The Tesla dashboard design team

Agreed and I personally don't think there's NO way they're going to have autopilot without you being able to see exactly what's happening to your left and right and behind you and not put it in the center of your vision
  38. scott jones

So what does the M3 mean for the MS?

OK for $35,000 without options just looking at the exterior I actually prefer it to the model S the glass top and back are far more futuristic looking and it's actually more sporty looking it may not have the same bells and whistles but for half-price I think it's a much better deal and...

Thanks to Model ≡, Price increase is coming!

Why would you come out with a 70 and a 90 just to get rid of them I believe they got rid of the 85 to keep the 90 for quite some time I'm guessing like other posters have said there will be a 70 a 90 and 100

Model 3: the true S killer?

For Gods sake don't say something Red Sage doesn't like, he'll act superior. Apparently he hasn't learned other people can have their own opinions that differ from his. Cue the name calling and/or superiority complex from RS.
  41. scott jones

Model 3: the true S killer?

You seem to be dismissive of others opinions. I was correct about the new battery coming out with the x, and a host of other things, but I didn't do it by bashing others. In response to your statement: "Have you actually looked at the competition from Audi, BMW and Merc?" Yes. And that's...

Model 3: the true S killer?

. I totally agree with you IF your numbers one through three happen. if they don't, sales of model S will drastically be reduced. there has to be a difference that is significant between the model three and the model s. Right now the model s looks like a $40,000 vehicle inside and if you take...

Feature Ask: I want variable wiper frequency

When it first rained, I thought the windshield wipers were broken on my tesla that's how bad they operate. I also couldn't believe there was no manual setting for adjusting the speed. hell my 1977 Chevy Monza had that! I won't buy another one until some basic things on a Tesla model S are...

First drive on Thusday....BMW Alpina B7 to Tesla P85D?????

I had a Tesla and crashed it and a Hyundai Genesis at the same time and I would say the interior and comfort of my 2009 genesis was superior to my $100,000 Tesla and I promised myself after crashing the tesla that I would not buy another one until the interior matches the price tag. currently...

    Tesla - Silence

Wow that was great! Are we Sure Tesla Europe didn't have a hand in it? I read the makers interview but didn't understand when they said, tesla wasn't involved but they had to give a share of tesla for the concept before us. Something off in the translation.

GM continues to try to stifle competition

As a member of the media here, I wrote a Facebook note to the Indiana "author" of the bill and asked during a week where we lost Carrier to Mexico, are you really going to force a company here to leave and not invest in the planned service center? Every note helps.

85 kWh battery removed from design studio

You are absolutely correct I have spoken!! Plus the price of manufacturing the batteries will go down with the giga factory so they will have no choice but to lower the price given the huge difference between the model three and the S

Front seat belts rub against neck - very bothersome

I know longer own a model S but I can tell you I had the same problem with the half twist it is fixable in about 10 seconds if I recall you take the seatbelt strap that goes up to your shoulder and fold it over on itself. Looks like a triangle. it kind of looks like the beginning of a paper...

    car and driver P90D 11.1 @ 121 MPH

regardless of the latest magazine test... I just want to know how Tesla can claim 10.9 when no one is close to that. Was that down hill with an anorexic driver and lightning hit it just right from the clock tower ?
