    FSD Beta 10.69

Great. Perhaps I am beta testing more than just FSD. I think the difficulty of this whole endeavor cannot be overstated. Lots of complexity and chaos.

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

What about us FSD beta testers? Are we exposed to any additional liabilities? Anything not covered by our insurance policies?

    FSD Beta 10.69

It’s the best of both worlds: the car drives itself like a responsible adult but you can still gun it like a teenager on the green light and leave everyone else behind in the dust (streets have speed limits but no acceleration limits).

    FSD Beta 10.69

Use it all the time. Miami. Heavy traffic. Crazy drivers (they don’t know it, but are about to learn that they cannot intimidate a robot). Also use the accelerator all the time. I don’t know why one wouldn’t. When it’s going slow I give it a nudge. Obviously it’s not a perfect drive every...

    FSD Beta 10.69

And, most importantly, posted about how you didn’t use FSD beta to better inform us all how FSD beta works.

Analysis of the price-hike for FSD, and the options it allows Tesla

I’ve read a lot of funny things about FSD on this forum but let me get this straight. These are a couple of guys telling an online group, made overwhelmingly of men, that FSD beta, which is overwhelmingly designed and used by men, is somehow bad because some women don’t like it? Like if my...

    Waymo

Already more and more cities are designating car-free areas. The future belongs to self-driving trucks and buses (not so sexy eh?). No one, including Waymo, is trying to lower the cost of self-driving cars — they’re not a scalable solution. Ultimately, self-driving vehicles will bring the end...

I'm In Seattle And As a Die Hard Tesla Fan, I am Not Sold On FSD Beta Experience. (Been On Beta since it rolled out to Public). Thoughts?

This is an example of “price discovery”. What is price discovery and how does it work? One difference between you and Elon Musk is that he has engaged in price discovery and has established a market for FSD beta. You find it amazing, Elon has found a source of revenue. You find it...

    Smart Summon Problem

It used to work. I impressed a lot of people with it. It’s broken now. That kind of disappointment is an unintended consequence of over-the-air updates.

    FSD Beta 10.11

What are the chances that one will actually be able to drive across the US/Canada border using FSD or using FSD in another country?

    WAPO on FSD

Yes reading the article was like reading about how the process of riding an elevator was an unbelievably complicated ritual of another civilization — complete with videos on how sometimes, an elevator can get stuck between floors!!! I can hardly wait for the next installment: “international...

    Navigation Audio Muffled and "Basey"

I have been having this problem often. Yes the reset with scroll buttons with or without the brake fixes the problem. But what is going on? It almost sounds like the audio is being rerouted from the front speaker to the boombox.

Tesla says there are 60,000 FSD Beta testers now

Perhaps you haven’t found the pedal to the right of the brake pedal. In a Tesla, if you step on this pedal, the cars behind you will disappear. I highly recommend it. I find that this pedal is key to my enjoyment of FSD nearly 100% of the time I drive.

    Felony charges for autopilot crash

This is true — in the driver’s moving frame of reference: the car was not moving with respect to other cars driving at the freeway speed limit. Then all of a sudden (as they applied the brakes) the Tesla quickly moved away from those cars affording the sensation that the Tesla “suddenly and...

    $12K for FSD is insane

The sooner you buy the sooner your price per ride can start going down😜 For my first week of FSD, each drive had an average cost of about $500! That was totally worth it to scare the crap out of my brother. I love FSD and use it every time I drive. I usually keep my cars as long as I can. If...

So I guess they have enough beta testers?

Navigate on autopilot while you’re on the ramp BEFORE you hit 50 mph on the freeway. AP use may be unrelated to admission to FSD, but I could see why Tesla would like people who were enthusiastic, extensive and experienced users of AP for FSD. SS does effectively reward use of NoA.

    Felony charges for autopilot crash

So this is literally an "edge case". Where is the edge of the freeway? Navigate on autopilot should have given many warnings that it was about to disengage at the end of the freeway. As soon as the freeway ended navigate on autopilot should have disengaged. Was that before the intersection, at...

    Felony charges for autopilot crash

The article says: "In the Tesla crash, police said a Model S was moving at a high speed when it left a freeway and ran a red light in the Los Angeles suburb of Gardena and struck a Honda Civic at an intersection on Dec. 29, 2019." and "Criminal charging documents do not mention Autopilot. But...

    $12K for FSD is insane

The features aren’t available anywhere else. If you don’t want to be an early adopter, don’t get it. But if you want to try this new technology, what are your options? If you get something new and innovative, don’t expect the level of refinement in a mature, long-used product.

    Brad Templeton's F rating of Tesla's FSD

Yes, if something is not required then it is not needed. No human can “drive competently and safely like a human” on their first drive. We don’t want our cars to drive like humans. We can’t download maps into human brains — they need to generate those through experience. We want our cars to...

    Brad Templeton's F rating of Tesla's FSD

We don’t need to improve on FSD 10.8. The question is how could we if we want to.

    Brad Templeton's F rating of Tesla's FSD

This does sound like Elon and it is a flawed argument. A good, experienced driver does NOT come to an intersection AS IF THEY HAD NEVER SEEN ONE BEFORE and navigate only on what they can see. Instead, the driver compares the intersection to a mental map of what intersections look like, which...

    Brad Templeton's F rating of Tesla's FSD

Great Review. I’m not a robocar consultant, but it is obvious that the lack of maps is a design flaw. This flaw handicaps the Tesla — so much of the driving information would be ready a priori, but this forces the car to figure everything out ex nihilo. Tesla will eventually have maps. I paid...

The unofficial "when do I get my FSD beta update" FAQ

I slowly improved my score until I was at 100. But I was there for over a month before I got FSD. Must have been over 1,000 miles. I never did the opt out/opt in thing, but if some jerk made hard braking necessary, I would pull over and do a soft reboot. The wait really sucks, but it’s worth...

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

My experience is that it enters (too fast) without stopping, but it doesn’t recognize a roundabout or anticipate the curve so it stops or slows down half way. I think this is fixable with programming. They just have to smooth out the turning. They also need to look at the map and anticipate a...

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

Perhaps I am a bad beta tester, but I have NEVER tested whether the car will yield to avoid a collision. I have ALWAYS found that my ability to foresee being cut off and apply the breaks is faster than the reaction of the car. Maybe I should start another thread, but my concern is about where...

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

Thanks for the replies. Go pedal and turn signal are by far my most common interactions with FSD (in that order). Making no accommodation for people who are drifting into my lane is the most unnerving and common thing that the cameras see but for which I don’t intervene. I haven’t seen this...

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

Hello New FSD beta since Christmas. If I don’t click the button to report incidents is my FSD driving generating any (useful) data? Autopilot learned my route and got better with time. Will something similar happen with FSD (roundabouts etc.)? Thanks

Understanding The Decline In Tesla’s FSD Take Rate

FSD 10.8 is worth every penny ($10K). It turns a boring city commute into a real life video game. However I could understand a correlation between those who are unwilling to risk $10K on a nonexistent product and those who are unwilling to risk their lives inside a self-driving car.
