Roof Rack - Is it Really a Risk?

I carry a paddle and surf boards regularly for a few years at highway speeds, no issues. I have also carried lumber (no plywood yet) with no ill effects.

    2024.2.7 Sucks?

It could be unrelated, but the day after I got 2024.2.6 update, the GNSS (GPS) and cameras no longer function. Updating to .7 didn't help. Rebooting, removing USB drives, nothing seems to fix it. So while I can't speak specifically to your issues, this update is really bad for me (or I'm just...

Advice on Model Y Winter Tire Modification to 18"

I have a LR Model Y with 18" rims from a Model 3. There are (at least) two versions of the 18" rims on the Model 3, the ones I have are rated for the Model Y weight (both fit physically fine). I run X-Ice 235/55R18 and have no issues at all. I average around 271 Wh/mi on those (~4,000mi last...

    Windows KEEP rolling down

For me, it was water ingress into the harness connector located in/near the B pillar according to service. The window would randomly go down a bit (the amount when door was opened). If you mark down the times, the tech can look up the vehicle log to help troubleshoot.

    MY AIRPORT PARKING DRAIN EXPERIENCE

I parked for 7 days in Virginia at the airport structure, MYLR, lowest temperature was 11F. I parked at 78% and got back to 76%. I didn't open the app once during the time. Wifi on, sentry off. These numbers are from my self-hosted TeslaMate.

Windows and trunk randomly open on their own while I’m away from my car.

Probably not your issue, but I had one window doing this and it was due to water ingress into a harness, shorting the connection. The problem would occur with any moisture but not always immediately, it was seemingly random as the water worked its way into the connector. Took about 30 minutes to...

    Gemini black wheel covers?

I plastidip'ed and haven't had to touch them yet, been little over a year and 21k miles, about 1/4 on long highway roadtrips. The front bumper is in worse shape with scratches and dents from road debris than the rims. Now that I think about it, I should plastidip the bumper...?

Is now the worst time to accept delivery of a Model Y?

Service really varies location to location. My local service center (Norfolk VA) has been really great getting things fixed on very short notice. Usually I put in a service request, give them a call, and can get it scheduled within a day or two, and they have always fixed the issue.

Tow hitch bike rack for model y

I have a Thule Apex XT 4 Bike Hitch Rack and I carry 3-4 bikes regularly. No issues (other than just physically trying to intertwine 4 bikes). Works fine.

Winter tires for 19" are out of stock, can I get rims and use 18" ?

As a follow-up to my post with the MICHELIN X-ICE SNOW 235/55R18, I completed a 2,350 mile road trip from VA to MI. Temps were from 40F to 10F. Most (1,900 miles) of the driving was 80mph on highways. I averaged 348 Wh/mi. Since getting back and driving around town, at a much more sedate speed...

Model Y as a commuter on I95 in VA?

I live in Hampton Roads and drive to DC somewhat regularly. We drove back from up north the other week (before the snow storm, temps were right about freezing). We charged in Woodbridge, PA (up to ~80% charge), got down to Stafford (up to ~80% charge) for a charge, then down to Yorktown (~27%...

Winter tires for 19" are out of stock, can I get rims and use 18" ?

MYLR, bought 18" aero and put on MICHELIN X-ICE SNOW 235/55R18. Work great, haven't driven enough to see change in Wh/mi. Ride is better feeling than with stock 19" (harsh bumps are absorbed in tires better).

    Glass roof-very fragile?

I had minor hail and the roof was fine, for whatever that is worth. I've driven 5690mi and charged 1.57MW/hr. I pay 12.5c/(kw/h), so around $125 (only a little Super Charging, so actually slightly higher). My previous ICE got ~35mpg average (assuming $3.15/gal) same distance would cost $512...

Car seat protection that does not leave indentation recommendations

Model Y (Black seats) and Highlander (cream colored seats) with no permanent indentations nor discolorations from the following off Amazon. Four different car seats are left permanently attatched, removed about once per month for cleaning. Model Y has been used since July, Highlander since...
