We have a ‘23 MYP and just took delivery of a ‘23 Ford Lightning XLT ER. The current incentives on the Ford made it a real bargain. It’s really smooth, quiet, and comfortable. And we can use the Tesla charging network now too, although we always charge at home (solar panels). The Tesla is...
This thread is for the general discussion of the marketplace listing Tesla Model Y Performance 21" OEM Wheels/Tires/TPMS. Please add to the discussion here.
2023 Tesla Model Y Performance 21" OEM wheel and tire set, including TPMS sensors. These were taken off when new, so about 30 miles on them from the drive home. They are flawless; no nicks, scratches, curb rash, etc. Included is a set of four Tesla tire storage bags. $2,250 firm. Local pickup...
I’ve asked this before, but haven’t seen a response. Has anyone tried having the half shafts balanced? In my old hot rodding days, whenever we shortened or modified a drive shaft, we always made sure to have it balanced as the final step to avoid any potential vibrations. Perhaps whoever...
Similar here. I sold a Challenger Hellcat Redeye for the same reason. I put 335 series tires on the rear, and still couldn’t get it to hook up at launch. Tesla has it figured out.
I believe there are a couple of different test procedures that can be used for the EPA rating in the US.

It seems to me right now between the Model S Plaid and the Model X Plaid, the Model X Plaid is the better value. I just wish they would make a five seat version.
If I’m reading the new rules correctly, it seems a few here are missing the point. Basically, starting next year, your tax liability no longer matters. The only thing that matters is the income limits. You’ll get the full credit off the purchase price (depending on make/model/msrp/etc) as long...
When my wife is out driving our Model Y, I can track where she is through the phone app. Is something different there? Or are you thinking the car was stripped apart before you noticed it stolen?
There’s a dealer in Tampa, FL advertising a blue ‘21 MSP with 14k miles and FSD for $73,500. It’s across the country from me, but seems like a bargain.
It’s tough to make a wholesale change to the look when aerodynamics play such an important role in the design. Look at the Lucid and EQS. They all have a very similar shape to my eye.
If you don’t like it, it can be removed. But removing it leaves the paint in that area more susceptible to rock chips. Tesla obviously feels that area could be prone to such damage.
But knowing the car can smoke a Bugatti Chiron is simply bragging rights. How often would you encounter one on the road in a situation to prove it? I’ve never seen one on the road, much less lined up with one at a stop light.
Good points for and against here. I still haven’t decided yet. Which...
I have a MYP now, and I feel the MSLR I had previously would accelerate harder from a dead stop and even more so accelerating from speed. I’m sure the Plaid would be more so. The carbon fiber bits on the Plaid don’t matter to me. I actually prefer the wood trim. Would having a third motor...
Since the price drop, I’m seriously considering a Model S. I used to own a ‘22 LR, and liked it a lot. I sold it when prices got so crazy and made a few bucks. When comparing the LR and Plaid, the cars appear to be exactly the same, other than speed. The LR I owned was no slouch, and I can’t...
If I still owned an S and it had the vibration problem, I would take it to the service center, ask them to remove the half shafts, and then take them to a driveline shop and pay to have them balanced. What’s there to lose, besides a few bucks for the balancing? And if it fixes the issue, maybe...
Agreed. It’s also surprising to me that folks complain of feeling the vibration in the pedal. I assumed there was only an electrical connection between the pedal and the drive system.
So when the Tesla website says the Plaid motors have carbon sleeved rotors, it’s only the two rear motors and not the front?
“Three high performance motors with carbon-sleeved rotors” is false advertising?
But it seems to be an issue on both the LR and the Plaid, which have different motors.
I came back to this thread hoping to find the vibration issue had been fixed. I had a ‘22 SLR that I sold when the market was on fire. I never noticed an issue with that one. I’m finding I miss that car, and...
I had a couple requests for interior photos. The plastic bag in the rear has the original floor mats. The car has always been garaged and charged at home to 85% with a 32amp L2 charger.
2022 Model Y Long Range. Less than 8k miles. Blue with black interior. Tow package. Has floor and trunk liners. Has Redwood GT suspension (adjustable Ohlins). Also has the accelerator boost upgrade. I have the clean and clear title. Excellent condition inside and out. $46,500. Located near...
The ride is great. It’s exactly what I was hoping for. No more rattling of the teeth over imperfect surfaces. No more worrying about curb rash on the wheels. The only downside, which is very slight but expected, is the larger sidewalls flex a bit more during hard cornering. Another plus is I can...
