    Wipers

For me, you can't disable the wipers with AP but you can still set a manual speed. Has that changed with the latest update?

Not sure I'm enjoying my MY after 8 months

I've been looking at alternatives too. The problem with the Chinese cars is their lane keep / adaptive cruise isn't amazing. They also bing and bong way more than even Teslas. BYD are better than most, but they still seem to bong quite a lot. There's a fun Kris Rifa video where he gets...

    [UK specific] Software Update 2023.26

.7 seemed to work fairly well for me, improving some of the more annoying AP aspects. Even auto high-beam seemed to be OK outside of town. .8 for some reason seems to have reverted some of those improvements and added new problems. As mentioned by Pink Duck, controls seem to be reluctant...

Not sure I'm enjoying my MY after 8 months

Can confirm everything experienced by OP. I have some help with some aspects, but not all: The lights pointing up has become very common for me, I think it coincides with software updates. Go into the service (IIRC) menu and select to adjust the lights / recalibrate. You don't need to adjust...

    [UK specific] Software Update 2023.26

People are complaining that the updates are adding flashy new features, while at the same time getting worse at the important stuff. Case in point removing radar and requiring auto wipers and lights on cars that had a physical radar. Or physical changes like removing the radar, removing the USS...

Autopilot is getting worse, not better.

Out Of Spec did a test of Bluecruise on a Mach E and a large chunk of test road was different due to roadworks but cruise still worked. The mapping clearly isn't critical for the function of the system. The trucks you mention sound a lot like earlier VAG implementations, which are just bad...

    Fisker ocean - UK forum

What review from Fully Charged isn't overwhelmingly positive? We'll need to wait for the more balanced media to take a look before we know how it compares to other cars.

This is why Tesla Vision is not yet ready for Autopark and Summon

I thought radar making a comeback was still just a rumour?

Autopilot is getting worse, not better.

The S3XY buttons can also perform this function. I'd have done this already, but I'm paranoid about Tesla using it as an excuse to avoid warranty work. Or worse get involved in an accident and the insurers claim I 'disabled an essential safety system' since Tesla is claiming the wipers /...

    Maps Issue

Were you going along the M5 near Weston-Super-Mare? Both times I've been to Weston this year, the maps fully disappeared west of Bristol, and the entirety of the time in Weston. Reset does the same as you found, briefly comes back, then goes away. Only that area for me, with full mobile signal...

Autopilot is getting worse, not better.

Have basic AP, other than the lane changes all rings true for me. Test drove a BMW i4 today with the full driver package. Oh my goodness what a relaxing alternative to AP. I had it running while in heavy traffic in town, and it gently sped up and slowed down how I would. There was a large van...

Have you lost faith in Tesla?

I lost it with the switch to Telsa Vision, aka remove a perfectly good radar in favour of a camera. Car worked mostly fine before that, the odd phantom braking here and there, etc. but it was generally trending better. Since Vision, every update either makes things worse or removes a feature...

    PPF recommendations in Bristol?

I got mine done at AutoTrilogy :) I suspect the AutoTrilogy quote includes VAT, and a bit more coverage. For example 'doors' will mean all of the door rather than just the lower half. I would strongly recommend you get entire panels covered, especially if you have a lighter coloured car. If you...

    Autopilot — left bias

I had one day a while back (early 2021.4 version) where the car was off to the left, made it unusable outside of lane 1 on multi-lane roads. At the same time the energy consumption was also very high, maybe 50% or so high. But it was only that one day, since then it's been in the centre as it...

    Dashcam failure when needed!

I've got a Samsung SSD in mine, and it still occasionally fails to work right. I also hit a deer on the motorway and the impact was between 2 separate files so while it did record, the most important bit was missing. Fortunately there was enough footage to show how some damage occurred on the...

Should LFP batteries be charged to 100%?

To add to what's been said, I was watching a Bjorn live stream with the Model S a while back and someone in the chat had access to the Model 3 service manual. He specified when cell balancing, and capacity re-calculation happens, at least as far as the manual goes: The capacity calculations are...

Nooo! Need to make a claim for accident damage. Tesla Body shop or Churchill's own

Having seen the aforementioned thread I was very happy I used an approved body shop in Swindon. I hit a deer on the motorway and had a lot more damage to the car than you have. They kept the battery topped up, and gave me a nice 80% charge when I picked up the car. The big thing is the approved...

Was going to order, now in 2 minds

That was my favourite part! Until they did the discounts on Performance models last year and I ended up with a car that had already landed. Tracking with Mr M is like the run up to christmas, you get all of that excitement and anticipation. I just wish I knew about the thread before I ordered...

    PPF and Ceramic Coating Quotes

That's what I have. XPEL certified installer. It's been fine for me so far (1.5yrs?). I was initially disappointed but you can't actually see the edges unless you're looking closely. Most edges are nicely wrapped, it's only here and there where there's a visible edge. In terms of protection it's...

    PPF and Ceramic Coating Quotes

I can confirm Admiral will cover the car, but they won't cover the PPF. I declared my PPF to Admiral, but they refused to replace it after an accident. They would only cover the car as it left the factory, so parts, bodywork, paint... no PPF.

Was going to order, now in 2 minds

I had the exact same concerns as you before and during my order for a Model 3. I came very close to cancelling a few times, predominantly due to the reported phantom braking issue. Originally I had a Polestar 2 on order, one of the very first to come into the country - exciting times! However, I...

Tesla Model 3 and speed limit signs

That's a very good point that I didn't think about. For FSD they need to know all signs. That makes using an ML solution much more useful since the speed limit signs are just 'another sign' they add to the process and not a special case. Not having to get developers to write custom code for...

Tesla Model 3 and speed limit signs

I can answer that one maybe. The issue is Mobileye own the patents on the efficient way of reading the signs. I haven't read the patents, but I suspect they're looking for a specific shape, and then literally reading the numbers inside. Somewhat like traditional OCR. Tesla don't like licensing...

    Tracker

Well the more you know.... I think I might need to contact Admiral.
  25. B

    Tracker

It's unlikely to count as a 'tracker' because it only works on GPS and transmits via GSM. Someone stealing the car with knowledge will just remove the SIM card. A real tracker works on multiple frequencies and is hidden so a thief can't just remove or disable it.

First holiday with the M3P - a learning experience

Hotels.com have it in the 'Facilities' list. You have to expand it on the left, and then check 'Electric Vehicle Charging Point'. Sadly not all hotels seem to list if they have one, so it can filter out hotels that do actually have a destination charger. But it's good for a quick filter if...

    2020 Shipping Movements

That's handy. Wonder what the difference is then. Unless it's just the use of orange instead of clear for the indicators.

    2020 Shipping Movements

They'll be set up for driving on the other side of the road. Normal headlights have a higher beam when dipped on the side with the verge, lighting it up better. This means you can see the side of the road further. However, if you reversed the pattern you would be dazzling oncoming traffic and...

£3,000 discount on Inventory Model 3 Performances

Right now Tesla are offering a flat £3k off all Model 3 Performances in Inventory. Seems they're also selling ex-demos as 'new', but with a further discount. If you were on the fence, might be as good a time as any to buy one. If you do, feel free to use the referral code/link in my profile :)...

    2020 Shipping Movements

Looking at the web service data, all the LR cars that suddenly appeared are either at the dock or freshly on the boat even if they say 'London'. There's no estimated vessel ETA and definitely no actual ETA which means the cars almost certainly haven't docked at Zeebrugge. I'm guessing these are...

ChaDeMo Adapter for U.K. model 3?

Unfortunately the adapter won't work with Model 3 :( Are you sure about Chademo? A quick look on ZapMap shows the DC chargers on the NC500 are both CCS and Chademo. Although it's look a bit grim with regards to reliability.

    2019/20 Orders and Deliveries [closed]

I think I was watching that one in Inventory. Based on the data from the web service, looks like it's on the Glovis Sigma. That's due in Southampton on 13th assuming it makes it to the Panama Canal on time (31st Aug) and then steams rapidly across the Atlantic. Otherwise maybe a 16th arrival at...

    Phantom braking still an issue

In terms of ML (machine learning) models, training is always thrown away between new models. The way ML works to train a model is a load of input is provided to the system, and it then goes through a very fancy random number generator, finally there's an output. The output is then checked to...

    Phantom braking still an issue

Ye I saw that one. Looks like it thought something was in front and did a full emergency stop on the motorway. In the manual TACC is meant to only slow down for traffic in front, but otherwise not adjust the speed as speed limits change. However, I've read a lot of people have had it change...

    Phantom braking still an issue

Sorry to resurrect a thread. Was this with AP or TACC?
