The reason 7 seats are now coming to the Y

perhaps they'll put the middle row on sliders so they can be slid closer to the front row. Then rows two and three can share in compromised legroom. To me the MY is a compact crossover, and if you really want a practical 3 row CUV then you have to move up to a midsize car. The other idea...

Advice Needed: Return or Wait for Potential Fixes

Return. In addition to what you note, it looks to me like the doors are a different shade of white, looking at your 5th picture. just return it and wait for the next one. When Sandy Munroe says Tesla needs to bulldoze the Fremont paint shop and start over, he's not kidding.

    White Color Mismatch Unacceptable

SCs will take touch up paint and make it look like they used White Out on your car. Lol we have seen the pictures but seriously, a good body shop will make your Tesla look better than new.

    Model Y Roof flew off

yes, I'm trying to LEARN about the car I am PLANNING on buying rather than buying BLINDLY and then finding out what a POS the car actually is And NO, I'm not calling it a POS since I don't OWN one YET since I've told Tesla to hold my order at this time. Researching a large ticket item before...

    Model Y Roof flew off

The one thing I loathed about possibly owning a Tesla is the Fandom that I have watched and read about for years. I didn't want to become a member of Tesla Fanboy Mafia. I understand being excited about the brand, but the blind loyalty turned me off. I consider myself brand agnostic. I am...

    Model Y Roof flew off

For me the issue is overall quality control assurances are put into doubt even more as issues like the missing control arm nuts and this unsecured glass roof panel are discovered. I have been considering a Tesla for a couple of years and very early this year decided to take the plunge and place...

    Model Y Roof flew off

I laughed when I read that Tesla offered to service the car for free, oh, and give them a loaner. Fix it for FREE? Wow. As if an owner would have been expected to pay for this DEFECT to have it fixed.

    Rejected MY

Without pics all I can go on is his word that the doors, frunk and hatch (?) alignment were off, and I've seen more than a couple of MYs in person where the doors looked like they were misaligned "in multiple axes." Axes being plural for axis, at least that is what I'm trying to say. The doors...

    Disappointed

seriously. I would bet Ford dealers will be price gouging on the Mach E for many months, at least. All car dealers price gouge on new/hot cars, and the Mach E will be in demand when they first get released. Or, does a deposit guarantee me MSRP? I haven't checked but I doubt it.

    Rejected MY

so they admitted to a 2mm spec. Interesting. it doesn't sound like much, but 2mm off in some areas would be super obvious, especially if it's 2mm off in multiple axes, which I have seen on some Telsas myself. And if every door is mounted 2mm off, that 2mm which doesn't sound like much suddenly...

Anyone thinking about an VW ID.4 Instead?

those first Leafs are practically worthless But what do you think about the current entry level Leaf at $139 per month on a lease? For simply city driving that is an enticing entry for an EV. In 3 years when the Leaf lease is up then there will be a slew of new EVs to choose from. thoughts...

Does Pearl White issues still exits?

just saw this car parked and didn't want to look too much like a stalker so only took two pics. All 4 doors were badly out of alignment, in all imaginable axes. Unfortunately I didn't get the VIN, but it was a new car with a paper plate still attached Rear bumper was yellowish compared to the...

    Happy delivery 9/19!!

congrats on the car! It is quite surprising the number of owners with cars delivered with dirty hand prints on the interiors of their cars. I put this on the delivery centers since I would think it's easy enough to have someone take a quick look in the car and wipe the greasy black hand prints...

    mismatching white doors/body relief

hey Picasso, I'm not sure where you sit now with Tesla. Did you agree to have them repaint your doors or did you bargain for something else? I looked for your video on the excessive dust but you've taken it down. Did you not want to piss off Tesla or was that part of your negotiation to get...

    Martian wheels

Please keep us posted if you find an aftermarket source that will work with the MY. Another story like yours with a SC refusing to answer a phone or return messages just puts more nails in the Tesla coffin for me. sheesh

Tesla Advisor: Price increase on Model Y coming

@BlindPass It's NOT spartan! It's new age LUXURY!!!! hahahaha ;) Honestly, with all the issues the MY has been having I don't have a solid idea of when I want to accept delivery of mine. Because of this, I am hesitant to put an order in to lock in the current price. Spend 100 dollars to...

Tesla Advisor: Price increase on Model Y coming

So if Tesla raises the price of the LR AWD by 3k dollars, then all they're doing is effectively putting the price back to where it was before they lowered the base price by 3k dollars. I put my order in this past February, so I was already a buyer at the pre-3k dollar price slash. They lowered...

Car drives straight when steering wheel is slightly right

@newtnyc Is your steering wheel off center? It might be worth your sanity just to take it to a proper alignment shop and pay to have it done. Yes, Tesla "should" do it for free/warranty/due bill, but as you're already experienced what a car "dealer" should do and what they are willing to do...

Car drives straight when steering wheel is slightly right

This is why your particular Tesla Service Centers shouldn't be trying to straighten the steering wheel. Taking the steering wheel off and trying to realign it straight by hoping the splines line up perfectly is dumb. the steering wheel can be straightened by adjusting the tie rods.

    Best looking floor mats?

@Kimo I have had 3 sets of Weathertechs in various cars and will never buy them again. They are hard plastic which makes me wonder why I don’t just rip out the factory carpets if I want a hard/cold feel in my cars. Also, the second row and cargo mats I have had the edges permanently fold over...

    Best looking floor mats?

The Taptes look nice too since it’s a logo-less clone of the 3D. But I actually like the 3D logo so it’s not a problem for me. It would come down to cost between the two. If I could save at least 40 dollars by going Taptes then I would.

3D Maxpider for me other mats look too industrial or tacky to me.

    White Color Mismatch Unacceptable

Yes yes, most every car manufacturer has an issue with white, here and there Tesla cannot be defended on this issue, sorry, not in my opinion. tesla has poor paint overall and they have a serious problem with matching white right now. It’s far more widespread with the white MYs right now than...

    White Color Mismatch Unacceptable

Yup, that is one mistake on the Yukon and someone felt compelled to write an article blasting GMC for their one reported mistake. Tesla has an epidemic of mismatched white MYs just saying at this point it's not really comparable. I want a white MY so I'm hoping they can figure out how to...

Found this little gem on my $55K Model Y

someone else had mentioned earlier in the thread that it wasn't meant to be mounted in this configuration, so that makes it more than one, hence WE If it makes you feel better then I'll say MY best guess instead of OUR not sure what difference that makes since it's a GUESS anyways so there is...

Found this little gem on my $55K Model Y

This is an obviously jerry-rigged job, but if it works for the long haul then that's fine. But my concern is that this won't hold up over the long haul and those stressed bolts holding the LCC in place will give out enough over time to cause leakage. Leakage is why this was cobbled up in the...

    Paint Mismatch Survey

@Balthezor I think it's driving your nuts because it's not 100% matched. A good body shop can tell you if it's matched or not. They'll have a device that will tell them/you the color of each panel. There was another poster on here that took his to a body shop and it proved to him that each...

    Paint Mismatch Survey

So the Tesla rep basically admitted that they'll try to deliver the poorly painted MYs, and the hope is that it's sunny so the cars don't get rejected. wow. This has been reported by other posters too, that their Tesla reps said they'd just try to deliver the rejected MY to the next customer...

    No rear lights in park!

Unrelated, but I a neighbor that parks her MS on the street. We have narrow winding streets with no sidewalks, and when I drive up the hill towards this parked MS at night with my high beams on, the car will turn on its headlights for a full second. I assume this is a safety feature so cars...

    White Color Mismatch Unacceptable

@Balthezor your doors do look like a different shade. We've certainly seen worse though. my friend's MY has the shading correct on his doors, but he has splotchy paint (thin spots). I'm getting closer and closer to changing my order to MSM Note around the 1:20 mark. This is how a car is...

Car drives straight when steering wheel is slightly right

An alignment and an off-center steering wheel are two different issues (most likely) A car can be perfectly aligned with an off-center steering wheel. The steering wheel would then need to be adjusted by the tie rods. Don't let the service center tell you they would need to pull the steering...
  42. R

Car drives straight when steering wheel is slightly right

Don't let the Tesla SC folks tell you this is normal and within spec! This is BULLCRAP. The car needs to have an alignment done, not for the alignment per se since your car is tracking straight, but the steering wheel needs to be aligned. And don't let the SC tell you that they can't...

Preventing “stretch marks” / seat cracks

Ah ok, well I don't have my MY yet and I don't have any prior experience with the material Tesla uses. I know leather shows creases over time, but that's expected. I had a faux leather chair upholstered by a shop that used an auto-grade vinyl and it looks perfect after a couple of years, so I...

Anyone here have a white MY with matching colored bumper?

I was just going to agree with KyleATMn, but the more I look at the pics the more it the mismatch stands out. Yes, it could be better and we have definitely seen worse. It comes down to what you guys can live with if your SC says it's WITHIN SPEC. Your wife is fine with it. It bothers you...

On the Fence... To Buy or Not To Buy

While smaller and closer to the M3 for competition, the Polestar 2 is also a consideration. I have gone onto the Polestar site 3x now tempted to put the 1k dollar deposit down, but I'm not convinced I want the smaller car just yet. Supercharger network is what keeps me coming back to wanting...

    Another Panel Gap Thread

Do you have pictures of the full car from the side views so those of us waiting for white MYs can see Tesla is able to produce matching painted doors and bumpers? thanks! As for your panel misalignments, I believe Tesla is able to fix those. This might take more than one trip to do it, but...
