why can't Tesla create a vehicle with a steering wheel and pedals? why take the all in bet on the software, regulatory approvals and consumer acceptance when a basic hedge would be to make the same vehicle with the controls? Plus we are supposed to wait until August to find out if the...

    6. Neither of the two vehicles priced under $50,000 fits their needs 7. No home charger & range on 3 or Y isn't sufficient for their weekly total commute (e.g., need 3 supercharger visits of 20min or more) 8. Don't want to support Elon based on his words and actions 9. Belief that EVs are...

Lots of explanations. Take a look at AAPL - $73B Cash on hand with $108B in debt including $5B in new bonds sold last May. Same for META and others. Typically done to take advantage of tax write off in the case of having foreign subsidiaries generating excess cash.

Is quarterly data available? Looking at 2H 2023 - Q1 2024 (when available) unit volume on a quarterly basis vs. Toyota would be helpful to understand if there is a Tesla specific decline or not.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think this is a very important point. If this was a clear one time impact of something - supply chain disruption for example -the Tesla team would be on calls with the stock analysts to discuss this which should bring down estimates but with a caveat. Instead we have big misses (which also...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Tesla has two mass market models, the 3 and the Y. One is already the #1 volume car in the world and the other is top 5/10 in most markets. As you point out there are probably some demand levers to pull with these models, but I don't see how any of them are significant enough to power 50%...

also after having paid for and using whatever version they had for the last five years I will say that a few days of use I think 12.3 is very very advanced. For the last year I really only used FSD on the highway, and it was great. I've been using 12.3 for more point to point and it is a big...

Been thinking about near term demand generators prior to Model2 release. Model 3 performance and Model Y light refresh are the two that come to mind. But I also think that a 375mile Model Y would be very interesting. We have seen less than 10% increase in the Model Y Long Range (from 291...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

what we need is for the grown ups at Tesla to be in charge of the Model 2 design. Another weird mobile like the X or the CT would be a disaster. If the CT was targeted at F-150 buyers, like the 3 & Y were targeted at traditional sedan and CUV buyers, it would have been the next significant leg...

Late 2018 dual motor LR with about 85k miles. Besides tires I have had to replace one cracked windshield, one 12V battery, two right rear taillights and one right side repeater. Haven't bothered to measure battery degradation. Something is creaking in the steering in the morning, but I...

just went and saw the new Model 3. The interior feels like an Audi, but cleaner. It really is pretty incredible. If only there was a way to let the car buying public know what you could get for $329 / month.

Here is a great review of the new Model 3 by MKB If only Tesla would let the world know how good it is. My 3 is fine (2018 w/ 85k miles) but I think its going to the kids as soon as Tesla brings these changes to the Y

The S, X, 3 and Y all led their vehicle class because of the leap they all delivered. If the CT wasn't going to be a top seller in its class why prioritize its development? Right now it seems more like the X. A technological tour de force but with an idiosyncratic design that significantly...

It's really nice to have my Model 3 take 80%+ of my commute on a daily basis. Way more than adaptive cruise control + lane keeping. But unlikely to be a must have for very many at the current price.

I’m not sure we will see Gen3 announcement until the end of the year. Given BYD / Chinese capabilities there will likely be a Gen3 clone on the market within 12 months from announcement. Tesla needs to be much closer to production before laying out the road for the competition.

I'd like to see a refreshed Model Y out by mid year. That should drive up interest and demand (and profits) at the current prices. Wildcard for me is how much more efficient manufacturing the Highland Model 3 is.

Yes I agree that SS has lots of benefits. There was some commentary from Franz that they were able to redesign the body to take advantage of the SS exterior, but overall I'm still not seeing any evidence of weight savings. I like the cybertruck & leaning towards getting one as a 4 passenger truck would be pretty useful for me. As an investor I really don't see that stainless was worth the added manufacturing weight, cost and ramp issues. It isn't clear to me of how much is gained by having the exterior shell...

My take is that Tesla is approaching the top of the demand curves for the Y and 3 (sans advertising- which Elon basically doesn’t believe in).
