Is the base Model S $115k now?

I have owned four Model S’s and I’m ready for my 5th, but is the cheapest one $115k? If so they’ve lost a loyal customer! UPDATE: never mind I must’ve been on the Canadian site!

My post was taken off the Tesla forum by the moderator I guess. Not in the Holiday mood I guess!

Gift to my fellow Tesla owners - AR Business Card

The app just uses augmented reality to make a fully rendered Model X that appears to be attached to Tesla business cards (use the back as the target). It's hard to appreciate without seeing it in person.

Gift to my fellow Tesla owners - AR Business Card

Happy Holidays to my fellow Tesla owners and those interested in these incredible machines (on my third). As a gift to you my company created an Augmented Reality app that has a special Easter egg. Currently available for iOS and soon for Android, you can find the app by searching for "kinetic...

    2015 Model S 85D 14,100 miles Perfect Condition

Sorry no I traded it in. Thank you for your interest.

    2015 Model S 85D 14,100 miles Perfect Condition

Yes shelbri that is the case here in WA. For the record TM gave me $65K for this car, so I would have needed to get $71,400 in a private party sale. I think $75K would have been a pretty fair price for a loaded 2015 85D in the excellent condition mine was in, but it was convenient to turn it in...

    2015 Model S 85D 14,100 miles Perfect Condition

I'm going to trade it in on a new Model S. I'd have to sell this car for about $75K for it be worth it to not trade in, as we have a 9.75% sales tax rate here in Seattle.

    2015 Model S 85D 14,100 miles Perfect Condition

This is a pristine 2015 Model S 85D with 14,100 miles. One-owner, fully serviced, garaged and in perfect condition. 275 miles of range and an unmatched magic carpet AWD driving experience. Drive cross-country using the free Supercharger network, charging at home costs about $40 per month. Never...

    Firmware 6.2

I agree that the current implementation of the Blind Spot Detection is not that useful, as the white arc visual cue is not noticeable. I'd prefer: 1) Chime when you turn the turn signal on and there's a car in your blind spot on that side. 2) Different chime and vibrate when you start to move...

D Option Cost - Was it ever $2500

I finalized my 85D in November and I swear at one time the D-option was $2500 right after it was introduced. Does anyone else remember seeing that on the website? Thanks.

2013 Pearl White Model S60 - Excellent Condition - SOLD

So an out of state buyer pressed the Buy button even before contacting me. We are negotiating now, but my intention (and the way the car was listed) was for this to be a local sale. I haven't accepted a deposit yet, so this car should not be considered sold.

2013 Pearl White Model S60 - Excellent Condition - SOLD

There is zero rust on this car or rims. The tread depth is 6/32" (measured today) on all four tires, and they were last rotated 8/25/2014 by Tesla service. During that service Tesla also replaced all the lug nuts, I think for cosmetic reasons only. I can post more photos tomorrow, but I can...

2013 Pearl White Model S60 - Excellent Condition This is a very clean, very well maintained Pearl White Model S60 with 24,000 miles. Absolutely no dings or scratches and a perfect grey leather interior with Obeche matte trim. I've had zero problems with this car and it still 90% charges to...

AutoPilot and Paper Bag on Highway Scenario

I've had my S60 (VIN X4846) since February 2013 and have been extremely happy with it, but want to upgrade to a S85D this Spring. I'm wondering how well the AutoPilot will work and whether the TM engineers considered the case where a paper bag appears in your lane when you're cruising down the...

    Firmware 5.0

I've had my car for six months. I believe there is some sort of timeout from the behavior you describe unless something has changed in 5.0, meaning the quick accessibility reverts back to the slow mode after the car isn't contacted for some period of time. Would you mind retrying this after 1/2...
  21. G

    Firmware 5.0

How about a separate app called "Activate Climate Control". One click and a message is sent to the server: "VIN XXXX wants to wake their car up and activate the climate control". I don't need real-time interior temperature readings - heck it's 90 degrees out and my car's been in the sun for...

    Firmware 5.0

Surely you pre-cool your car for your clients when you're driving them around showing listings in Arizona in the summer. I guess we're going to just have to get used to tapping the Tesla app, putting the phone in our pocket, and pulling it back out a minute later. It would be rude to stare at...

    Firmware 5.0

I won't mind waiting 10-15 seconds for the car to wake up when I get in, and will be glad it's more energy efficient. However, I use the mobile app 4-5 times a day and with 4.5.XX.61 it connects in 5 seconds with my iPhone 5. If it connects in about a minute, I'm going to waste 24 hours a year...

5 seconds, but if I check again soon after that, only about 1 second.
  25. G

    Firmware 5.0

    @FatSal - I've been getting 4 rated miles per hour on 110V since I upgraded to 4.5.XX.61. On 4.4 I was getting 3 mph.
  26. G

    Firmware 5.0

I'd like Sleep Mode to have an ON/OFF button. I only drive 40 miles a day and the Vampire loss doesn't affect me. Unfortunately I often don't remember to pre-cool my car until I walk outside (hey it's hot out here!), and at that point I'm generally 30 seconds from my car. If I always have to...

    Phone App: iPhone/Android app

Does anyone know why heating/cooling is now depicted with the same graphic instead of the red and blue arrows that were used previously? It wasn't broke, why did they fix it?
  28. G

    Total Mileage Thus Far

Took me a month but the bigger questions is when (not if) I get my first speeding ticket. It's WAY too easy to go from 40 to 80 mph in this car (and I have a 60).
  29. G

    Phone App: iPhone/Android app

Totally agree. It wasn't broke, so why did ya fix it? (bad English intentional) I have my theory but it's total conjecture on my part. One time I was heating my car and I noticed that the temperature must have overshot, as cooling had begun (blue arrows in mobile app). It's possible that TM...

    Phone App: iPhone/Android app

You could be right, it might have been a total coincidence. However, my experiences with early versions of Windows (3.1, 95, NT) permanently scarred my belief in task switching. Those were the days!

    Phone App: iPhone/Android app

Not sure if anyone has had trouble connecting to the car with the mobile app, but when I did the solution was to close out all the apps running in the background. When I did that it connected right away. I have an iPhone 4S so I'm not sure this is applicable to other devices or OS's. Thanks.

Environment as a factor in EV purchase Decision

I personally don't think saving money in fuel costs down the road is a huge motivator for the Early Adopters. IMO the current buyers are: 1) Technophiles 2) Environmentalists (or at least are concerned about the damage ICE's do) 3) Aren't "Pack followers" (you might call this a desire for...

    Phone App: iPhone/Android app

There was a post on the TM forum about someone who observed that the climate control settings he set prior to getting into the car remained that way even when he drove and exited the car, instead of shutting off. Can anyone confirm this behavior? How does the app know when you are done...

PC Magazine... Please Stick to Reviewing PC's not Cars

What do you think Mr. Lendino said in 1997 about those wacky hybrid cars? Some people can't see past the next 12 months.

    Phone App: iPhone/Android app

I'm just trying to think outside of the box, but couldn't you use Bluestacks and a macro recorder to do the timed charging? This one let's you schedule when your macro runs, but I've never used it. Surely there are many others that might be cheaper. http://www.automationbox.com/

Phone App: Please TM put all the fob features into the app

I agree, but the fob batteries seem to die quickly and (by definition) unexpectedly, and I've read mixed reports about the "put it by the windshield" method success rate. At least with your phone you have feedback on the current battery state and plenty of experience with how long it lasts.

    audio system oem...?

One of the major failings seems to be that the Dolby setting, which by all accounts makes things worse, seems to be designed to decode audio sources that have been encoded for Dolby 5.1 or 7.1, which AFAIK are generally movie sound tracks. What we need is generic "Surround", which uses the DSP...

Phone App: Please TM put all the fob features into the app

Well I plan to use the mobile app to precondition my car, and I want the app to have a Ready Time feature. Five minutes before the defined ready time the app starts the Bluetooth polling and acts just like a pocketed fob when the Bluetooth connection is made. From that point on it's just like...

    Audio: Speaker rattle

I've had success with this stuff: dynamat at Crutchfield.com . Requires removing the door panel, but on most cars that's pretty easy. Peel and stick. Makes the door closing sound better also. There are companies that will do your entire car with the stuff. - - - Updated - - - You cut a hole in...

    windshield distortion

I don't understand why TM just doesn't cover the distortion with a black opaque border and dot transition pattern. Does the S windshield have this already?

  42. G

Alas, new problem: Windshield Stress Fracture. Anyone else?

I think the windshield cracking is a design flaw, not a supplier or manufacturing issue. Just conjecture, but I believe it is a thermal stress problem created at low temperatures. Glass is not designed to flex and and a curved brittle material needs to be able to "float" in its restraint system...

Phone App: Android Beta Version introduced!

@Doug_G - sorry I won't get my car for a few weeks. Can you tell from the display if you would have regen available immediately after you warmed your car up? Thanks.

Phone App: Please TM put all the fob features into the app

With all the issues surrounding the fob, including dead batteries and cracking plastic, I just wish TM would put all its features into the mobile app. Here's why: My phone is PIN protected, the fob is not. If the fob drops out of your pocket near your car, your S might not be there when you...

Phone App: Android Beta Version introduced!

Thanks Doug_G. We need a Ready Time feature, where the battery and cabin heating are done in an optimum way to minimize the energy usage. If the battery takes a long time to heat up it's dumb to needlessly keep the cabin warm that long.
  46. G

Phone App: Android Beta Version introduced!

The answer to energy consumption question depends on whether the battery and cabin are heated independently, and whether that heating is optimized. If they were independent and optimized (minimal energy use to arrive at a common "Ready Time", and you got in your car at that time) then the energy...
