Highland suspension on 2019 Model 3

When they were asking VIN, I was literally going to the car in the showroom and writing down VIN from the one on the stand.

Cooling the Performance Model 3 On Track – An Overview of Our Modified Heat Exchangers

Battery indicator is not a battery temperature. It's an indicator of a current limiter, which has math model from the average current from time. If motors, invertor, cells overheat first - it will limit the current even earlier. My coolers and switched off regen keep temperature of cells below...

That's not really the case. They choose specific curve of temperature to voltage drop with lowest voltage hard limit well before the actual power limit. So if they choose to send a new curve - they can. It doesn't mean they will or any power is attainable. But they physically can do that.

I predicted it will take a few months for Ludicrous option to buy, and I still think that's the case with 2.5 0-60 rollout extracted in US. I won't be buying it, because in the EU price (59.1 - 71.0K USD) vs trade-in is too high, battery cuts into power too much and seats can't be used with...

That's exactly the tool I used to cut head restraints on this seat that I've put in my current M3P But you can't do like that with stock seat. Because you raised a suggestion that wider tires might require higher pressure and that negates benefits of wider tires. I mean, I don't know how else to read that, so I commented. I alluded to it in the earlier comments that if one runs a wider tire, but has to bump up pressures to compensate...

Cooling the Performance Model 3 On Track – An Overview of Our Modified Heat Exchangers

I didn't change my radiator. I thought that oil is hotter, so it works better as a cooling medium. I still have hot radiators, so I plan to put water spray on them. EVs are not that hot, so its much harder to cool them. Heat pump based model 3 are even harder to cool since they don't have an...

Cooling the Performance Model 3 On Track – An Overview of Our Modified Heat Exchangers

I disagree about front oil cooler. Front motor is hot. It throws that heat into the coolant. From coolant it goes everywhere. My front coolers push front oil temperature 20C lower. That can't be nothing.

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

I had no issues with MPP FUCA, camber, toe arms and KW dampers. I cleaned threads when I adjusted them. Rear camber is less of an issue, -2.0 works fine for street and track. Unless UP have changed nuts and bolts on their FUCA since 2021, I can't recommend it.

I'm keeping -1.5F, -2.0R. Optimal would be OEM specs. That one is a compromise for spirited driving. UP FUCA eventually got bolts completely fused, so I can't adjust it anymore. I also don't use quick swap feature, since I'm lazy to do it, it gets stuck easy and you have to fix toe there and...

Thanks. Probably added ESP® hev so it can use regen only through brake pedal application until it runs out of regen capacity and only then use mechanical braking. None of that is damper, though. Or it just might mean that esp doesn't control dampers. So, I don't know, but sounds interesting...

Could be just removed dampers for the module mount. Or could be an abs pump without pressure damper. I think that I had that on Evo X - it doesn't pulse abs, it's just quickly finds the edge of traction loss and stays there. Basically it's a much faster direct pressure pump that maintains...

Vendor Model 3 Öhlins DFV Coilovers - Engineered by Redwood Motorsports ™

Vendor Model 3 Öhlins DFV Coilovers - Engineered by Redwood Motorsports ™

If it's bouncing - it means dampers are not slowing springs enough (not stiff enough). Harder springs will make that effect worse with higher frequency, bur lower amplitude of bouncing.

I specifically said that my model is torque limited by the grip. Battery is not limiting torque, it's limiting power. M3P is lower acceleration than 1.0g for 0-60 and it's dropping power way below battery limit after 45. The purpose of this model is to show that battery is not the limit of...

That's not how pressure is calculated. And it's not how tire contact patch works. Also, not how coefficient works. Lighter doesn't stop better not in theory, not in practice. Lighter turns and rotates faster. Lighter gains speed faster. Lighter is good. But stops the same. Heavier cars have...

Touching power limiter at a single point in time is not what makes 0-60 or 1/4. With motors and ECU program change you can get way more power around that single peak power point. Just look at the chart of how much space from the power limiter available everywhere except a single dot.

I made a whole post with calculations to answer this question on how you can do it with battery limit. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/posts/8189048/ Battery voltage influences the power, but not as much as torque limiter and motors back emf from speed.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Weight doesn't influence braking distance if brakes are not overheating in a single stop. Only pavement, tires and abs system defines the minimum stopping distance. Wrong suspension geometry can make things worse, but it's a rare thing.
