    FS: 2013 P85, Black/Black, 7K miles, $95.5K - Sold

I have decided to put my beloved P85 up for sale. I've had 31 vehicles and this is by far the coolest and most interesting of them all. I'm buying a vacation home almost 300 miles away from my primary home, so I have decided to get an SUV that can haul more people+junk and get there via back...

WTB: Tesla Model S with tech Los Angeles, CA

I have an auto broker friend who is putting mine up for sale for me tomorrow. Asking $97K, but will consider including shipping to L.A. with a reasonable offer. I'll have pics tomorrow. Identically equipped it'd be over $112,000 new today, or about $104K after the tax credit. - 2013...

    WTB 2012-2013 Tesla S Performance

I'll likely be selling in the next couple of weeks. 2013 P85, Black/Black, 6,700 miles, tinted windows, garaged and in excellent condition. Options are from my original build sheet are listed below. I think the similar car new would be over $110K, but I'd sell in the mid-$90Ks. I've had 30+...

P85+ Black/Black. Just Picked Up in Austin - It's Amazing!! (Pics)

Looks great...congrats!! Where in the Hill Country are you? I'm in Dallas but making a second home purchase soon near Fredericksburg. Did the Waco + San Marcos supercharger run last Friday before a couple nights in Fbg. The car was flawless on the drive, including back roads, and your '+'...

Interesting article on the former controller of the Collin Street Bakery company. Yikes...that's a lot of fruitcake. http://crimeblog.dallasnews.com/2013/09/ex-collin-street-bakery-controller-indicted-for-charges-he-embezzled-16-million.html/

Texas Supercharger Locations (location speculation, discussion)

This is absolutely fantastic. We stopped at the CS Bakery in Waco the last time we were heading back to Dallas from Austin. Really good lemon and cherry icebox cookies. It's the perfect location for Waco!

Texas Supercharger Locations (location speculation, discussion)

I just looked at the map again on the Tesla website, and I'm convinced that the grey dot on the Fall 2013 map is Hillsboro. It looks to be where I-35 East & West split off, which is just north of Hillsboro. That outlet mall there is really depressing, but I think it's a great location if there...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Congrats!! Love the Pearl White. I sell real estate here in Dallas, and have found the iPhone app to be really helpful when showing property in this nasty heat (mine also has the pano roof). I've programmed myself to turn the A/C on via the app a few minutes before getting back in the car, and...

Did you guys go through this pre-purchase agony?

Since the above cars are on your list of considerations, check out what a 2-4 year-old 7-Series or S-Class is going for on the used market. A friend just bought a low-mileage, really clean 2009 750i (same as current body style) with an original MSRP of $102K for $38K. Even if the Model S...

Did you guys go through this pre-purchase agony?

If you've read everything on here, you know that you have to take on some risk and just take the leap. I've had 31 cars, most of which were leased so I could walk away and not worry about resale value, so I know where you're coming from. This is the most phenomenal thing I have ever purchased...

    What Should I buy?

Option C. I chose Black over Metallic Blue but like both. I've never been drawn to red cars, but the Multi-Coat Red with the dark 21s is spectacular. I'm extremely happy with my P85, though I've found the handling can get a little squirrly at highway speeds compared to my second car (M-B...

    Model S On Wrecked Exotics

A friend drove by this after it happened (in Uptown Dallas). He said that there didn't appear to be any injuries, and I'm pretty sure those are indeed Louisiana plates.

    I'm Sold

It really is a no-brainer. I came out of a 2012 MB CLS550 and had a Range Rover, 2011 7-Series & a number of other high-end cars before that. This is the most incredible thing I have ever owned and couldn't even begin to think of driving something else instead. The Texas situation isn't as...

Help talk me away from the ledge

Right before I sold my 911 a few months ago, I had a 2013 Panamera S Hybrid as a loaner car. I'd take my P85 over that car, without question, even at the same price. I'm more confident in the handling of the Model S than I was with that Panamera. It felt heavy and bloated in comparison. I...

Help talk me away from the ledge

Similar situation here to many who have responded. My P85 replaced a 2012 M-B CLS550 that I LOVED, but I don't even slightly regret giving it up. I also had a 2009 Carrera S Cabriolet that sat neglected once the Tesla arrived. I sold it to my local dealer for a very strong price and have zero...

21 inch tires and replacement after 12-15,000 miles

I wouldn't call them better than the Pilot Sports, but 90% of the Pilot Sport at 40% of the price. Works for me.

21 inch tires and replacement after 12-15,000 miles

Absolutely agree. Same with me on my last 911, and I also put them on the 20" Jaguar XK wheels to replace the *horrible* Pirellis that came on the car when new. Not only were they half the price of the Michelin Pilot Sports I almost got instead, but the Hankooks improved the handling of the...

    Repurchase Guarantee

I think the most fair repurchase guarantee would be to ALL Tesla owners, regardless of cash vs. finance (and who financed it), when trading their 2012/2013 Model S toward the next generation car. I've had 31 really fantastic cars, and I wouldn't trade my MS for any of them. What I would trade...

21 inch tires and replacement after 12-15,000 miles

Yep...it's the norm for a heavy car with low-profile tires. My M-B SL63 has 8K miles and the rears will need to be replaced within 2K or so, and I'm not very hard on the car...plus those are 19s.

Glad you got to stop in there...those guys really are fantastic! I'm not usually a fan of red cars, but the new red is spectacular.

    Tracking Multi-red production and sequencing

I am not a red car guy --- 31 cars now and not one has been red --- but this is spectacular. After seeing 'Desmo999's photos of the red with the grey 21" wheels, if I had to place my order today, I would've ordered this red instead of my black car. Congrats to all of you...well worth the wait.

Buying a Tesla in Texas, and Business Tax Benefits

I'm self-employed and in the same boat, and as far as I know, the business tax benefit will be far less writing this off using the standard business deduction method vs. actual expenses like I've done with my past leases. I would have loved a lease program from the start, but the car was so...

    P85 Loaner Cars! Sweet!!

My Enterprise Malibu rental was AWESOME!! Smelled like an old shoe, the steering wheel was a quarter turn to the right when it was driving in a straight line, and the vibration at highway speeds was driving on a cobblestone road at 70 mph. Not to mention the redneck shuttle driver who was late...

    Blue exterior, Tan leather interior

I debated on Black/Black, Blue/Black, and Blue/Tan. I was surprised to find that the tan interior in 2 the cars I saw varied --- one was a little lighter (which I liked) and one was a bit more yellow (didn't like as much). If the dye color varied that much, I didn't want to take my chances and...

Tesla head on collision with a Honda

The 2 victims were on their way to work at a landscaping company and left behind 7 children. I just saw the below (which has been set up by the LB Police Employees Association) and will be sending a check. Regardless of whether a Tesla was involved or not, this is likely an accident that could...

How much to tip the valet for "Keeping it in front"?

I was a valet about 15 years ago in college. The Model S does nearly guarantee a space up front, but not always. I've seen what valets can do to cars, so I think tipping up front is money well spent. Rarely will your car ever go beyond the front if you tip when you first pull up rather than...

Tesla head on collision with a Honda

A little more info from the local LB paper this AM: Media sources are reporting the name of the Tesla driver in Tuesday’s double-fatal crash The first 9-1-1 caller appearing in the police log at 6:43 Tuesday morning told the dispatcher that a white Mercedes had forced his Tesla into oncoming...

Tesla head on collision with a Honda

Fortunately it isn't me. Prayers and all the best to the families of those killed in this horrific accident. This road has claimed way, way too many good people. My Model S resides in Dallas, but I grew up in Laguna Beach and spend a good part of each summer and holidays there. I have driven...

    Resale?

Good question. I've had 30 cars and rarely keep anything longer than a year, so I had the same concern. I've had a handful of cars that stickered near or above $100K, but have purchased all but 1 used after the steepest part of the depreciation curve was over. After just 6 weeks with this...

    North Texas Toll Tags

Jack is awesome, no doubt. Unfortunately mine isn't working in the nose cone. There is another thread on here about them working when attached to the plastic rear-view mirror *mount* as opposed to the actual windshield. Not sure if that's something that applies to the transponders and...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Agreed...this is a great photo! I hesitated on blue with the black interior and grey wheels, so I went black/black, but your car looks fantastic. I just sold my 2009 C2S Cabrio, too. Not sure what to replace it with, but not much else is interesting right now with a P85 in the garage!

What was the most money you spent on a vehicle prior to purchasing your Model S? Poll

MSRP new was $201,000, and believe it or not, I paid $39,900 for it with 50K miles when it was 6 years old. Although I had a pre-purchase inspection done at the dealer and it passed with flying colors, after 4 months I got nervous about the potential V12 repair costs and traded it when I was...

First Day Thoughts: #1 -- You Don't Need the P85. The 85 is more than Plenty.

Agreed on all counts! P85 is unnecessary but I work too hard not to splurge on it. I also would've felt too much range anxiety with a 60, glad I passed on the HPWC, would like my parcel shelf to arrive ASAP, and think the stereo could be better. Slacker radio is beyond fantastic!!

What was the most money you spent on a vehicle prior to purchasing your Model S? Poll

Speaking of, I picked up a 63" console table today and had no issues with it fitting. I need a 4-door car for business and have always preferred sedans over SUVs for driving enjoyment, but SUVs obviously have the edge with utility. The Model S really is the perfect compromise.

What was the most money you spent on a vehicle prior to purchasing your Model S? Poll

I'm probably a bit different than most here...an unmarried car nut without a family to support or kids to put through college. I work a lot and cars are my splurge and free time 'outlet'. Of 30 vehicles, I've only had 1 car more expensive than the Model S P85 (a 2009 Porsche Carrera S Cabrio)...

    So What Now?

The car is the gift. I don't need any coddling or recognition for my purchase. This is my 30th car, and the gifts I've received in the past were mostly from dealers as bribery to get a '10' or an 'A' when the manufacturer calls me with a survey about my purchase. I'd rather not be bothered...

    Difference between P85 & regular 85?

I went for the P85. I think the price difference was $10K (pretty sure) when I ordered at the end of last year, but it included the $3500 wheels and $1500 air suspension that I would've ordered anyways, so the net increase was really just $5K for me. Now that the wheels aren't included and...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

We're twins! Great review. I had a loud '09 Porsche Carrera S that I was planning to keep as a second car for longer trips, and after a week with the Model S, I found that the Porsche seemed boring (!) and I wasn't driving it. I took the 911 down to the dealer, they made me a very strong...

Soon to graduate from University... thinking about getting a Model S...

I am this person, and 100% agree. My parents are not car people. They provided me with a good education and a solid foundation in financial responsibility, but I have always earned my own way (including my first car at 16). I'm now 34 and have had 30 cars, from the MS P85 to new Range Rovers...
