Supercharger - Kalispell, MT (under construction Apr 2024, 12 V3 stalls)

Finally a confirmation that at least we are in "permit stage" for Kalispell. I have friends there that I try to visit on side trips from my regular "road tripping" routes and the 3 YEARS of waiting between when that location was first on the Tesla "PLAN" routing to now has been painful. Sadly...

    Supercharger - Chico, CA (LIVE 18 Jun 2019, expanded 2021, 18 V2 stalls)

Thanks, for the update. Keep us posted PLEASE. I do need to get up to Chico every once in a great while, and it would be so handy to have fast charging there to allow more flexibility in my travel options going onward rather than back to Sacramento. I firmly believe that perhaps HALF the...

Supercharger - Sacramento, CA - Arden Way (LIVE 11 Aug 2018, 19 urban stalls)

Drove by around 8 pm on 17 July/Tuesday and the barriers were still up and the chargers still caution tape wrapped. 8 - ( This is about the SLOWEST activation I have seen or read about in a very LONG TiME.

Supercharger - Sacramento, CA (LIVE 13 Oct 2017)

Drove by the site on MONDAY, and to me, it looks like "another 2 weeks" might be, sadly, a fair guess. I think I saw one of the charger stations still laying on the ground, and there is a lot of landscaping to be done. I saw 2 guys working on what might have been watering lines or some kind of...

Supercharger - Sacramento, CA (LIVE 13 Oct 2017)

Yup, with the imminent arrival of volumes of the Model 3, the Greater Sacramento Area needs another service center/showroom. Not a big fan of an Elk Grove location, but that could be functional with decent demographics for a potential wide range of new Tesla drivers based there.

5 April, Sacramento Raceway, 1/4 Mile Drag Gathering 4-7 pm

Agreed about the helmet and jacket, but these rules were written 20-30 years ago when the ONLY cars that could go under 13 seconds were HIGHLY modified ICE machines with very iffy safety. Further ALL drivers must be wearing LONG PANTS and shirts with sleeves, though short sleeves are OK, just...

Sub 3 seconds for Model 3 DL

I am so pleased with the option, for OTHER people" of a $35,000 base Model 3, but for myself, I want...ALL the performance upgrades. I will NOT execute my deposit UNLESS the version I am to receive can at least match the acceleration of my current 2015 P85DL. I am quite willing to pay for...

Can Model S P85D Ludicrous upgrade to the 100 kWh packs?

Range is nice, more is better, BUT for me....I want that extra oomph/power. I am totally OK with my P85DL performance yet....want more. It is simply that I am an "acceleration addict." OK, I said it and it is now in the open. 2.5 seconds 0-60 is SO MUCH better than 2.8 seconds. Heck 2.2...

Drag Strip Gathering: 17 August, Sacramento Raceway

Confirmed: 4 Model S cars and a Model X P85, P85DL, P90DL(classic), P90DL(gen2 nose), Model X 90D Critical summary: Neither of the P90DL cars carrying the LATEST SOFTWARE configuration could produce an ET of quicker than 11.26 seconds. The newest version P90DL did turn a 119+ mph trap...

How About a "Maximum Plaid" Model 3?

How About a "Maximum Plaid" Model 3? At the Sparks GigaFactory Celebration, Elon was clear that a second generation performance Roadster is now on the far back burner ("no good business case" was essentially what was said). There were a number of "us" in the crowd that cried and shouted in...

Newer P90DL makes 662 hp at the battery!!!

Checking the photo shoot and written details on the Motor Trend tested P90DL it HAD $15,000 in options above the base $115,000 configuration AND it did have the PANO roof as far as I can tell from the photos. MT also says the car car "run 10.9 second quarters" essentially right off the showroom...

Newer P90DL makes 662 hp at the battery!!!

Built vs Born....speed is a measurable quality and a simple aspect of the physical world. An advertised claim which by the way NEVER suggested that ONLY MINIMALLY OPTIONED cars could achieve is an explicit promise of performance. Every Tesla powertrain version prior to the P90DL exceeded the...

Newer P90DL makes 662 hp at the battery!!!

@ St. Charles and BHZMARK.... With all due respect to your claims of low 11.0X second quarter mile times, you have NOT YET posted those timing slips (St. Charles), nor bhzmark fully documented where/how your 11.0X time was achieved. I have a timing slip for what "was?" the quickest...

    P85D vs P85DL Wh/mi

No real pre-post "Ludicrous" change in my power draw of 298 watts/mile. And I take mine to the drag strip every couple of months.....plus many, many "demo launches."
  24. George Parrott

What's the typical tread life we could expect on those 20"version of wheels on model 3?

I have a 2015 P85D with the 19" all season tires OEM. I upgraded to "Ludicrous" at around 20,000 miles. I do "demo launches" about 2-3 times a week for newbies and have run "flat out" launches at local drag strips at least 25 times over 5 different times "at the strip." I now have 26,000...

Confirmed... Model 3 will have ludicrous mode

I have probably given demonstration "launches" to at least 100 first time Tesla passengers in my 2015 Model S P85D(L) and only two (2) out of that 100+ have been made "sick" or shaky from the acceleration. To me, it has become "normal" though I do NOT stomp it all the way except at the Drag...

    P85D Hypothetical

@jerjozwik I am not yet convinced that ANY software setting on a P90D would fully emulate the efficiency of the smaller overall motor configuration of the lesser power 90D. THAT efficiency difference as shown in the EPA range numbers comes from less heat loss etc in the smaller motor(s) in...

real world all models 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times

My Sacramento Raceway "hard data" on an S85: quarter mile: 13.575 seconds @ 105.84 mph P85+ Quarter: 12.925 seconds @ 108.80 mph
  28. George Parrott

real world all models 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times

@AWDtsla YES, this is partly why I keep getting various other Model S owners out to the Sacramento Raceway for "hard data." IMHO, if there is not a software update for the "Ludicrous" variation that gets owner cars to that ADVERTISED 10.9 seconds, then again, IMHO, this IS grounds for a...

Darn, this thread is humiliating. I regularly gather variations of the Model S at Sacramento Raceway and later give writeups on www.greencarreports.com and it appears none of you either read or as a psychologist it seems worse, remember what you read. I reported some time ago, around 17-18...

    Honest P90D(L) Quarter Mile Performance

WHERE are all the P90D(L) owners who could or will be soon, actually getting their cars to the nearest convenient drag strip, typically on Wednesday afternoons/evenings for actual full testing? There is NOTHING risky in "testing" one's car to confirm it performs as openly advertised. Tesla has...

    Honest P90D(L) Quarter Mile Performance

@AWDtsla Lolachampcar opines that it may be that Tesla has moderated the power delivery for just this reason: To make sure that nothing breaks. You are absolutely correct that we have not heard about anyone breaking driveshafts or gears, but perhaps at full power potential from the...

    Honest P90D(L) Quarter Mile Performance

    The P90D(L) at Sacramento last week had a 1.635 second 60" time. a 7.123 1/8th mile time @ 97.23 mph
  33. George Parrott

    Honest P90D(L) Quarter Mile Performance

The quarter mile is a balancing between "soft enough to get grip" and smooth as speed increases. Most drivers lower their normal road driving tire pressure about 10lbs or so for more grip off the starting line.
  34. George Parrott

real world all models 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times

Fastest actually strip timed quarter mile that I know of in a P85D(L) is 11.34 done at Sacramento Raceway about 3 weeks ago.
  35. George Parrott

real world all models 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times

So, what does it take for a P90D(L) to actually produce the advertised "10.9 seconds in the quarter mile?" The Motor Trend and Car and Driver Model S cars were direct "loaners" from Tesla and clearly IMHO the MT car was NOT running the same software the "rest of us have."
  36. George Parrott

    Honest P90D(L) Quarter Mile Performance

Also, she did NOT even lower her tire pressure!
  37. George Parrott

    Honest P90D(L) Quarter Mile Performance

She had the stock 21" performance wheel and tire combination AND the panoramic roof. YES, as far as I can tell, she turned the FASTEST EVER quarter mile time by an owner car P90D(L).
  38. George Parrott

    Honest P90D(L) Quarter Mile Performance

I have been searching and trying to discover is ANY OWNER cars have come close to the advertised 10.9 second quarter mile times promised for this model. Only the Motor Trend "loaner" car has come under 11 seconds in an official timing setting as far as I can find. Has anybody actually seen...
