Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I haven't heard of HW4 cars running FSD in emulation before now. A quick query found the summary below with an emulation reference. I'll be trying FSD V12.3 for the first time once it stops snowing here in Vermont. Does HW4 emulating code trained for HW3 cars mean that FSD won't work...

Strongly agree. I live in Vermont and until now the nearest service center has been a four hour round trip to Lathrop New York. Just had my first Ranger service visit a few weeks ago (to fix a fog light) and showed a bad panel gap to the technician. He measured and said it was sufficient...

SpaceX Starship - Integrated Flight Test #2 - Starbase TX - Including Post Launch Dissection

When telemetry with Starship was lost, wouldn't the velocity readout stop showing increasing velocity? Either stay at last velocity data point received or go blank? I wonder how long before the visual dot disappeared was telemetry lost? I'd speculate that the earlier it was lost before...

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

Florida, Louisiana,Texas, North and South Carolina, and Georgia have a combined coastline of 2700 miles. Gaza's coastline is 25 miles. I think the IDF can shut down weapons smuggling by sea into Gaza.

I would speculate that Ukraine can figure out weapons to blow up a yet to be started naval base sooner than Russian can build that base.

What other tech stock to consider?

Yesterday a law firm announced they'd filed a class action suit against Origin. Origin Class Action Suit So some good analysis work would be needed to figure out if the suit is merited or not and how much risk it introduces investing in the company at this low entry point.

What other tech stock to consider?

Thanks for posting. I'd never heard of Origin but if they can produce more environment friendly industrial materials at costs low enough to permit fast scaling, it would be just what the plastic choked planet needs. I imagine you got the 10 B order book figure from company statements. Is...

    Elon Musk - SpaceX version

Best product for removing tree sap/bugs?

Great post. Even 6 years later! Pine tree sap season starting here in Vermont. I'm going to try iso on spots of sap but have ordered ONR to try for washing car after removing any sap spots. Once ONR has the car clean and shiny, would then applying Hydro Silex Recharge coating be ok...

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

So who decides when training is complete? U.S., Netherlands or Ukraine? Isn't it a good assumption there has been familiarization and 'informal' training going on for quite a long time now? Plus training in the best simulators in one or more NATO countries? Or does the phrase mean U.S...

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

This article from BBC recounts some history of U.S. and Russia developing very large thermobaric bombs. Given how they work it seems they can be built any size that is useful for a specific military task. Especially interesting in this article is the statement that large ones have been...

    Tesla BEV Competition Developments

Great point. Speaking of fog, Tesla's used to be able to identify if there was an animal in the road ahead when driving through thick fog. I'd guess that was based on a camera sensitive to IR. It would be a safety plus to have that again. Maybe one of the new 4K forward facing cameras...

    FSD discussion

Latest Loyalty program is not much as far as 'credits' granted and what you can get for them. I don't believe Tesla, CarMax, etc. buying used Teslas with FSD are giving a meaningful increase in market value to having FSD. I think Tesla makes too much extra money attaching FSD to the car...

It could be argued I may have done a better job identifying Tesla, as I bought my shares back in 2013. That worked out well, and the Tesla stock became the lions share of my retirement accounts. I've been retired 6 years so I sell a few shares each year to supplement my income, knowing...

What will work with new full stack on ne MY with HW4?

Thank you @uscbucsfan. I ordered without EAP or FSD for now. I'll wait a month until July to see if Tesla offers a one month trial of FSD. If they don't I'll subscribe for a month or two. I would guess that if you subscribe they will allow just the FSD code alone to download to car...

What will work with new full stack on ne MY with HW4?

Does anyone have clear picture as to whether the new V11.x.x releases will not currently work for AP, EAP, standard FSD or FSD Beta on MY/3 with HW4. I.e. V11.x.x releases where full stack takes over old code base to provide better capability for some or all of those on older models with HW3...

My 2022 Model Y was rear ended two weeks ago and rear Gigacasting was cracked. It will surely be accepted as a total loss by insurance company. I'm hoping HW4 and new cameras will be added to Y this year but I've yet to find any clues as to when it will happen for Y.

I expect SpaceX is stuck with using this flip maneuver to separate for the next launch or two. I hope the as yet untested maneuver doesn't become the second missed attempt to reach orbit. I'm sure they are already in progress designing the moon landing variant's top of ship mini engines to...

That seems for sure. I don't understand how SpaceX engineers modeling the forces and heat those 33 engines would generate and for how long, would not have concluded the pad was way underprotected. The substantial launch successes might just as well have gone against SpaceX.
