    Early lease "trade/swap"?

Tesla initiated and offered me an early lease-buy for my Model X if I bought/leased another Tesla vehicle. This was a little over a year ago. At that time, my Model X was 2.5 yrs into a 3 year lease. They gave me 30-days to accept the offer, which I did. However, it took the leasing company (US...

    Cross Country Road Trip

I did a similar length trip within 4 months of getting my X90D, two years ago. I charged enough to cover 150% of the distance to the next supercharger. That gave my enough juice to drive my normal speed (yup, you guessed it right - fast enough to not get caught). I was pleasantly surprised how...

The Automobile 2.0: Chevrolet Bolt EV vs Nissan LEAF vs Tesla Model 3 Long Range

My wife has been driving a SUV for the last 20+ years. Whenever she replaces one SUV for another, I encourage her to consider a non-SUV vehicle because "honey, you're really not using the SUV for what it can do". Her answer is always the same - "So? I am buying the SUV because I like that...

Problem with early production Model X

@Darryl - Mine is a March 2016 build - vin 15XX. I've had issues and my car has been at the SC numerous times totaling well over 2 months. I'm at 14K miles now so my issues are nothing compared to yours - I feel your pain. I've had to be firm when I didn't get any answers but most of the times...

Do you like the auto presenting front doors?

Many of the individual features by themselves can come across as gimmicks but when they are used collectively, they provide an experience unlike any other vehicle today. I walk up to the car, the car door opens; I press the brake, the car starts; after reaching my destination, I walk away and...

NAV: No on the fly rerouting?

The on the fly rerouting does work albeit not in a manner most people are accustomed too. The Nav will reroute you based upon traffic congestion. I discovered it accidentally when it rerouted me to exit a freeway, take a local road for 6 miles, and then rejoin the same freeway. It ended up...

Consumer Reports: Model X - Least Reliable Car?

As much as I love my X, I do have to agree with CR's assesement on the X. As I write this, my X is in the shop with a door latch problem - a problem they have fixed twice previously. With the number of days it's been in the shop, it could be classififed as a lemon. I am sure there are a lot of...

Tire has nail... Tesla says they can't replace it until NOVEMBER?

I too got a 1/4" nail in the tire that casued a slow leak. Took it to a reputable tire shop. 30 minutes and $30 later, I was a happy camper. Have been monitoring my tire pressure since then and it's a constant 43-45 psi. BTW, they patched it.

Destination Chargers - Seek and ye shall receive

Three weeks ago I was at Lake Louise and decided to park at Fairmont Lake Louise so that I can charge there. Lo and behold, all three EV spots were ICE'd out. I let the concierge know but unfortunately he couldn't do anything to move those cars. However, when I returned I saw a Easel sign saying...

    Model X Road Trips

Did a 2 week, 3500+ miles round trip, San Jose to Banff/Jasper – Canadian Rockies. Model X performed flawlessly. I will spare you all the usual touristy things and instead focus on planning, charging, and performance. My average for the 3500+ mile trip was 341 Wh/mi. The chart below captures...

Musk had enough of the Falcon Wing Doors yet?

FWD are practical from a utility point of view. They are cool and exciting to look at operationally. They function pretty well most of the time, and will get better over time (OTA!). If other car manufacturers could do them, they would do it in a heartbeat.
