    Passenger Window Hitting B-Pillar Glass

Car was delivered in June 2023 (built in February 2023). Currently has ~12,700km (~8,000mi) on it. Booked in for mobile service next Friday, so keen to see what they say about it.

    Passenger Window Hitting B-Pillar Glass

Today when closing the passenger door on our Model Y, I noticed an unusual sound when closing the door that I had never heard before. Upon closer inspect, the passenger window has begun clipping the B-pillar glass when closing the door. The window glass extends quite a bit and I am concerned...

"Cruise Control" vs Autopilot vs Enhanced Autopilot

You’re correct, when you indicate to change lanes under basic autopilot, as you turn the wheel to change lanes auto steer will be deactivated. TACC remains on. When you are happy in whatever lane you want to be in, you can double-tap the right stalk again to re-engage auto steer. With...

1 week old MYP - reversed into fire hose

$2,107.50 all up New spoiler part (1533971-00-A) was $1,181.82, and new 'T' badge for the tailgate was $49.09. The rest was paint and labour, so the spoiler was the priciest component at almost half the cost of the entire job. Folks - don't damage your spoilers! ;)

1 week old MYP - reversed into fire hose

I guess it probably spared what would have been more paint if the spoiler hadn't been there. Unfortunately the spoiler was the most expensive part of the repair. Yes indeed - nothing could be done for the damaged one, it had to be replaced entirely. Seems like they did a better job on that...

1 week old MYP - reversed into fire hose

For anyone who's interested, it has been fixed. I booked it in at Coastal Collision Repairs on Sunshine Coast, QLD. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area - they did a fantastic job matching the paint on the car (looks a bit different in the photo due to outside lighting difference), and...

1 week old MYP - reversed into fire hose

I made sure my comprehensive policy included choice of repairer, although I'm hoping to not have to go through insurance for relatively minor cosmetic damage. I managed to get quite a good premium (compared to what other insurers were asking) and I have the maximum No Claim Discount, so I'd...

1 week old MYP - reversed into fire hose

Unfortunately not - the only noise they made was the higher pitched chime for 'STOP' about half a second before it hit. I'm guessing because the pole is quite narrow and the hose reel itself is raised up above the range of the sensors they couldn't detect it properly.

1 week old MYP - reversed into fire hose

Only reason I was thinking Tesla-approved (aside from hoping they might do a better job) is that I figured they would have ready access to Tesla paint as opposed to another shop that may have difficulty matching it. Admittedly my knowledge in this area is entirely zilch, so happy to take...

1 week old MYP - reversed into fire hose

Thanks for that! I don't trust myself to apply the rubbing compound/ScratchX so I might leave that to more skilled hands! Although one part of the mark is not paint-transfer (well... not on to the car at least), it's chipped the MSM paint right off and is showing what I believe to be the layer...

1 week old MYP - reversed into fire hose

Yeah it sucks... my own fault for not paying close enough attention though - the fire hose has been there the whole time I've lived here so I should have been more careful. I live on an acreage, and there is a fire house near the shed where the Model Y is parked and charged. The fire hose is...

1 week old MYP - reversed into fire hose

Hi Everyone, Today is a sad day. My one week old new Model Y Performance has its first battle scar - inflicted by me... and I'm completely devastated. Whilst reversing, I clipped a free-standing fire hose. Fortunately it was at very low speed and damage is fairly minimal compared to what it...
