Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

After calling Tesla Service (who had never heard of the MCU issue - shocker), I rebooted (both scroll wheels and buttons above wheels) with and without brake press. Also went as far as disconnecting the 12v battery (it's the original) for a few minutes, as well as removing and replacing the...

    Maps Traffic Not Exactly Working

I sent them an email. My use coincides with your likely - I know where I'm going - just want to adjust where I'm pointed at any given time. I would very much rather see nothing vs. the stale data that is being displayed currently though - I keep zooming in and out try to guess which is accurate.

    Maps Traffic Not Exactly Working

Confirming that the traffic data is not updating and displaying inaccurate data. I use traffic every morning and evening on my commute and got stuck in traffic which was not displaying given the zoom level was caching the previous days. The good thing is that I now realize how much I love...

Keyfob in locked trunk - setting to avoid?

I do like the recommendation of having another phone/person with the app registered to my car. At a minimum finding a way to place a call to have the other phone unlock the car remotely would help. I presume I could call Tesla in a pinch as well but would guess proof of ownership would be...

Keyfob in locked trunk - setting to avoid?

Is there a setting I can change to keep me from locking the keyfob in the rear trunk? Twice now I've walked up to my locked S, opened the rear hatch by lifting it, placed my key (typically in a bag or by accident) into the rear of the car and then closed the hatch. At this point the car is...

Just bought a Model S and have insurance problems....

I'm with Erie with a reasonable rate (in NC, and with all my drivers and cars/house on the same plan). One unrealized benefit of *not* shopping around is after 15 years with one provider (at least Erie), you receive the promise of no-surcharges for any at-fault accidents. Granted, it...

Things overheard while waiting at the SC...

Caligula - I did the same when I got mine and then added it after 3 months. Added a whole dimension to the experience. I drive about 5 miles each day on divided highways and didn't expect it to be used but I turn it on every single day now and enjoy the experience. Especially nice in stop and...

    Summon Parking Experiences?

I've played some with simple parking to a degree of success but I have always stopped it manually (with the app) before it stopped itself out of fear of scratches. Frankly, it scares me *much* more than (the notably improved 7.1) Autopilot running at 65 mph. Maybe with time I will grow...

LTE Upgrade, Did YOU Do It?

My June 2015 85D came with LTE and I've never had to reboot in 3000 miles. Although both panel and dash both rebooted themselves one morning while driving @ 45mph to no ill effects.

    CPO 2014 P85D or 2016 90D

90d will have LTE. 2014 P likely won't unless upgraded.

To P or NOT to P...

Yup. That's an interesting trick that I recall from my ICE days. I would adjust my own pedal if they gave me the option.

To P or NOT to P...

As an observation - I have and 85D and drove a P85D as a loaner last week. The P was within 1000 serial numbers of my car and both about 3000 miles on the ODO. I may have just been me but the P felt lighter and much more fun to drive even without stomping on it. Same wheels, same steering...
