Supercharger - Madras, OR (LIVE Jul 2022, 8 V3 stalls)

Oh yeah! I was in John Day 5 years ago for the solar eclipse (my first road trip in my brand new X). Did a bunch of National Parks on the way from the Bay Area to Mount St Helens and Portland. I could charge in Bend and get to John Day. But not enough juice to get to The Dalles supercharger. No...

    Windshield stress crack Model X

I did have a real stress fracture that started at the edge of the window where it meets the hood area. It was below the area of the window that would have been exposed to rocks or chips so it was pretty clear where it started. Tesla did replace my window under warranty (third party changed it at...

Supercharger - Cupertino, CA - Stevens Creek Blvd (LIVE 17 Nov 2020, 28 V3 stalls)

I don't think the Apple campus causes any additional load on chargers. There's ample (and free) charging available for all Apple employees on campus. Even the Apple visitor center next to the campus has quite a few (20+) Chargepoint level 2 chargers available. And they're free for everyone. I've...

    How reliable is model x?

May 2017 Model X. After 2 years, I had to get the front windshield replaced under warranty because of a stress fracture. Was done in my work parking lot. That's it for 3 years and 30000 miles. And next service I might have the yellow border around the display fixed. But that's purely cosmetic.

    Supercharger - San Luis Obispo, CA (LIVE 5 May 2018, expanded May 2020, 14 V2 + 4 V3 stalls)

Don't think it's common but I have seen it and it makes a lot of sense for the places where I saw them. Like Santana Row shopping center in San Jose. For these large shopping centers, our cars just charge too fast and you need to run back and re-park the car by the time you've barely seen the...

What would make you buy a non Tesla electric vehicle?

For the same price or better, it would need to have: 1) an at least 150kW charging network with the same or better density than the Supercharger network 2) as good self-driving 3) same or better range 4) over-the-air updates 5) same or better safety, driving experience, road handling 6) modern...

    Recent windshield replace by anyone?

About 2 months ago, I had my windshield replaced under warranty because of a stress fracture (2017 X). The Sunnyvale SC just had a 3rd party come to my work and to the replacement right there in the parking lot. Very convenient. No camera calibration needed.

    2019.20.1

Just got update 2019.20.1 9973c22 this morning. 2017 Model X100D, AP2.0. On the S forum, people mention the improved Dog mode but they do not see the Lock Confirmation Sound.

    Software Update 2019.20.x

Also received it this morning. 2017 X100D AP2.0. Two new items in the release notes: - The previously mentioned Dog mode improvement - Lock Confirmation Sounds. The car can now emit a sound to confirm the car is locked/unlocked or failing to lock because a door is open. Just tried it out it...

    Glass cleaning recommendations

A couple of months ago, some smudges started showing up on my front window. It's not clear whether it happened after a visit to the Service Center or a hand wash-only carwash. Some look like sharply delineated horizontal lines, some are a bunch of small spots and other areas look like soapy...

Larger battery size around the corner?

I don't think those things would help much. Electrical motors are already extremely efficient (with % efficiency in the mid 90's). So, with heroic efforts, you might go from 95 to 98% but that's rather immaterial. Electric motor design is now focused on making them cheaper to manufacture, use...

Traveling Across the Sierras and through Yosemite: Planning Charging and Energy Usage

Just did a 4 day weekend in Mammoth, leaving from Sunnyvale in the Bay Area. We have an X100D. Left at 90%, charged in Groveland, hiked to Lembert Dome in Tuolumne Meadows and then drove to Mammoth. Charged in Mammoth. Next day hiked to Rainbow Falls and Devils Postpile and visited the Minaret...

    New Nav trip planner behavior

Yes, I saw that too. Yesterday, I set a course from the Southbay to Los Angeles just to show a neighbor. I have an X100D and there used to be at least 2 stops. Now there's one in Kettleman City with barely 5% left. And arriving at the destination with 3% left. That's cutting it a bit too close...

Supercharge speed for model X 100D at Cupertino, CA

Cupertino is a very busy station so you were highly likely sharing one transformer with another car. As previously mentioned, check if you have a full pair to yourself. This mainly is a problem in the Bay Area where there are so many Teslas. For long distance trips, it has never been a problem...

Opening charging port when vehicle is locked

Oops, I misunderstood. When I saw "mobile" I immediately thought "mobile phone" and did not read the rest very well. Anyway, I meant that I can open/close the charge port using the app on my phone without unlocking the car. Would be useful if you're away from your car and an acquaintance wants...
