    Indeed, got the e-mail today.
A smart choice just became a no-brainer. The iconic Roadster is now available for lease.

You could take immediate delivery of a new 2010 Tesla Roadster or Roadster Sport with a three year, 30,000 mile contract and with monthly payments as low as $1,658.*

At the end of the term, you'll be able to purchase the groundbreaking Roadster or pay a fee and walk away.

    Driving Down Cost
A Roadster lease provides significant benefits beyond a traditional lease. The relative low cost of electricity vs. gasoline and the low maintenance needs of Tesla's electric motor as compared to an internal combustion engine add to the benefits of leasing a Roadster over an old-fashion car.

    Lease Convenience
Leasing a car provides added flexibility and peace of mind. As technology evolves, you will remain on the cutting edge of electric mobility advancements.

Tesla customers also benefit from the Tesla Rangers, Tesla's pioneering mobile service squad. Tesla Rangers make house calls for annual inspections, firmware upgrades and other services, so you can enjoy hassle-free service from your home or office. Customers in the United States pay $1 per roundtrip mile from the closest service center, with a minimum charge of $100.

    Take a Roadster Home Today
In anticipation of a Springtime Roadster rush, we've pre-ordered a limited supply of our best-selling styles. Nationwide store locations have a limited selection of Roadsters available now so you can drive one home after finalizing your lease.

Even if you don't live near one of our stores, we can deliver your Roadster within days.

    Make an Easy Decision
Start the leasing process by calling 650-413-6300 or emailing reservations@teslamotors.com.

Looking at the details, you'll pay about $72,000 for the 3 year lease. No details were given on the purchase option. Seems pretty high, IMO, to have nothing to show for your $72k on month 37.

Wow. Anyone want to lease my Roadster for a year? I'll take those terms.

(If you'd take the other side of the trade ... well, ya know)

But what a great write off for a business expense!!!! That is where leasing make sense.

Anyone have any info if this leasing/financing option may become available in Canada? So far we have no options here like that. Thx....

I got the e-mail about the lease today. I excitedly told my wife I could lease a Roadster for only five times what our previous car payments were.

    She gave me that look.

Naturally $1,658/month sounds crazy ... (plus the $10,795 down) ... then again, BMW is getting $850/month for the Mini-E, right ? (And what's the downpayment for that one ?)

According to Tesla's website - Tesla Motors - Lease a Roadster

    - At the end of the lease you may purchase your Roadster or pay a fee and walk away
You have the ability to purchase the Roadster after your lease. If you don't want the Roadster () post-lease you can give it back to Tesla, I'm not sure how much of a "fee" this entails. According to AutoBlogGreen it's $45,603 to buy the Roadster post-lease.

    Some of the fine print:
Monthly lease payments of $1,658 (excludes sales or use tax) for 36 months based on MSRP of $111,005 (includes destination and documentation fees). $12,453 due at signing includes $1,658 first month’s payment, $9,900 down payment, and $895 acquisition fee.
Looks like they also charge you a quarter for every mile over 30,000 as well:
excess mileage charges of $0.25 per mile for miles driven in excess of 30,000 miles over the life of the lease.
