My wife and I attended the Tesla Road Trip in Washington Feb 15-17 2014. Unfortunately I could only take one day of from work so we had to get home after the event in one day. I was concerned that it will take forever and that we will be "dead" when arriving. I post a detailed spreadsheet below but in short, this trip was amazing. It shows that long distance travel with the MS is absolutely no problem and to my belief very much less tiresome than in an ICE. I also had zero problems with the seats. In my previous ICE's I my bud always hurt after some hours I think the forced charging stops are just great and make the travel so much more relaxed. I also could confirm that my simple "anti range anxiety" formula works, I just deduct 20 % from the range and this always worked out perfect. With a little less speed and a little more charge at Lumberton we could have skipped Santee ! I forgot to switch to range charge TWICE, on the initial overnight charge in Arlington (Washington) and then an lunch time in Lumberton. Fortunately there I remembered it and switched it back on, but we departed with a few miles less than full range.
Best of all, if I did not make an calculation error, we DID BEAT the Tesla cross country team in both, average time per miles for the trip and average charge time. This is great as it shows that the numbers from Tesla does not require any special driver or skills !
I am looking forward how long our Washington/Tampa record will stand
