    Demo car has scratches

The kind that comes from having a go at full beans more times than you would in 300,000 miles.
  2. Q

Spare tire - Modern vs StanceMagic vs Tsportline

Actually MS has one set of.holes. I did not go as far as looking up what nuts fit it or search back through the.thread to see what wheels and nuts that joker has.
  3. Q

Spare tire - Modern vs StanceMagic vs Tsportline

I wouldn't go quite that far. I am only aware of 5 styles of nuts but there could be a few more. You wouldn't put the round head ones on a 45° conical or mix conicals of different pitch etc. I didn't know there's a narrow set of holes and a wide set on the Modern Spare. Are we sure they are...

Adding a Tesla Gen3 Wall Connector as a product in the Tesla App. Why is it

Pretty sure my phone predates that malarkey.
  5. Q

Can LFP battery really last for 20 years?

I don't reddit but yeah, calendar aging carries on regardless so you would wind up with 20 years worth on top of the wear and tear of usage. Could be 60% available range at 20 years? Just a WAG.
  6. Q

Adding a Tesla Gen3 Wall Connector as a product in the Tesla App. Why is it

New acronym city this place. I guess I will be keeping a key card on a lanyard for safety.
  7. Q

Spare tire - Modern vs StanceMagic vs Tsportline

Depends what wheels you are running as I said before. The fact they have different nuts available doesn't necessarily mean you need any. I don't know what nuts the spare needs nor what the stock ones are on any particular OE Tesla wheel. Nuts!
  8. Q

Adding a Tesla Gen3 Wall Connector as a product in the Tesla App. Why is it

That's bluetooth right? And you do that to pick up the car which has its own internet connection?
  9. Q

    Help adjusting coilovers

And lo, there is a better way!
  10. Q

Adding a Tesla Gen3 Wall Connector as a product in the Tesla App. Why is it

Some other thread the 'charger' didn't want to know about the phone app or vice versa, so everything stalled. They had wifi which is how mine should function. Trying to get it clear in my own mind how to proceed. I thought you had to scan the charger to phone app? I never scanned any QR...
  11. Q

Is there an alternative to Modern Spare?

Interesting strategy. Grind on one a lot or grind on all a little bit. The first way you can pick on one hole at a time and the wheel stays symmetrical. The second way you get a hodgepodge that winds up favouring an off centre location if you accidentally pick the same hole to be top a few...
  12. Q

Adding a Tesla Gen3 Wall Connector as a product in the Tesla App. Why is it

I presume SSID is short for Some Sort of Internet Device. So where does the hiccup sometimes happen? It seems bulletproof the way you describe it.

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

I don't think that's a caravan plug? Looks a lot like what the fish and chip trailer uses to hook into a site box in town while it's waiting for development. Two big 4ft wide friers, a bunch of heat lamps, fridges. They have two plugs.
  14. Q

Is there an alternative to Modern Spare?

One more time. The hub centre spigot is only there to help you get the wheel on properly. It should always get on properly with conical nuts and brute strength. If you can't use fingers to get the wheel nuts nearly all the way home you must be grinding them on the cones to get the job done.
  15. Q

    Uneven Tire wear

Not what I see in your photo. Tread is badly worn in comparison to the rest but still visible. Perhaps there is extra 2 to 3cm missing where I can't see? Unlikely. I think you are worrying about blowout unnecessarily. I spend half my life running around on tyres that look exactly like that on...
  16. Q

Tesla requires 60A Disconnect switch w/charger?

I didn't know a plug in connector could even do 7.6kW if you had a wall outlet wired for it. A three pin 240v house plug is 10A here. You would need some extra hoofy wiring and plug and socket set. I think that's probably why I went for the hard wired version. At that stage I had not clocked...

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

I heard that when I went to inspect my MYLR.
  18. Q

    Tire/Battery Life in Arizona

Please do. Tesla want to charge my autosparky for the safety info to enable installing a 3rd party camera when they won't do it themselves. Bloody cheek!
  19. Q

    2024 MY "Price Adjustment" Math

A good start would be rejigging the tail light assembly welding so leaks are avoided.
  20. Q

Ausgrid changing pricing for electricity grid access

So long as Amber doesn't stuff your battery at night so it can use it during the day I think you are onto a good thing.
  21. Q

Picture of your Model Y - Right Now!

Thanks Clun. My tail lights stick out a little like that also. I thought maybe mine was a bit off. Looks like they should tuck in under the trunk lip but don't.
  22. Q

    Uneven Tire wear

How so? There is only undue wear on the inside shoulder but still some tread. So long as the alignment is fixed that area doesn't get hammered like the outside shoulder on the fronts can from turning. The rest of the tyre is well above the wear markers. In NZ the main drainage treads must have...
  23. Q

Tesla requires 60A Disconnect switch w/charger?

As far as I know electrons are electrons whether they are in US or anywhere else. We are limited to 32A of 240v on a single phase circuit. As I recall that's 7.6 kW out of the grid. I just wondered if there could be any problem or special considerations to be taken in setting it up.
  24. Q

Tesla requires 60A Disconnect switch w/charger?

It's 240v single phase here and we are intending to have a 32A breaker. All good?
  25. Q

Can someone suggest the best color match for Gemini Wheel Curb rash repair?

Good tip for M3. We just need a recipe for off white Gemini 19's now and a semi gloss black for if I ding my 20's before I come to my senses and sell them.
  26. Q

    Ideal State of Charge Kevel

Asked and answered. I had only recently put two and two together to figure that out for myself, and yet to put it to use! Being a legendary tightass I would do all the charging at the office so I left there with 55%, or 80% if I was off fishing at the weekend.
  27. Q

If that is too slow you could try DeSolve Orange. Wear gloves if you don't want orange coming off your breath, it's strong stuff.
  28. Q

Is there an alternative to Modern Spare?

Correct. You don't want to be using that function to wrangle the wheel into position for you. Steel nut vs alloy wheel is going to grind into the conical alloy surface as it goes. You don't want that. Just get the conversion ring and the spare will sit up on the hub for you with just a gentle...
  29. Q

Adding a Tesla Gen3 Wall Connector as a product in the Tesla App. Why is it

Some people have trouble getting the charger to hook up to the phone over wifi. I wonder if this is related to the app? So, I should hook it up in the app first or app second after hooking up phone? Related question. What will getting a new phone do to the system? I can live without phone...
  30. Q

Picture of your Model Y - Right Now!

Ah. It has plenty enough performance for me and it doesn't say Performance so I could do mine in different colours and get away with it. Blue for Chill!
  31. Q

The few times Tesla has addressed battery degradation, they have simply lied and dismissed it.

You mentioned the airport run. If you had it charged at 60% you would have enough to get there and back and your calendar aging would drop back from the far end of the curve where it gets much worse. See Aakee's post with the multiple colours for temperature, degradation v SOC storage tests.
  32. Q

    Uneven Tire wear

Those tyres aren't shagged yet unless you have some very different legal wear limits there. I was reading that the manual has a very broad spec for "in range" alignment. So what is the real deal?
  33. Q

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

The best and brightest are getting new jobs. Good luck rehiring them! What flustercluck of headless chickens are running the S.C now? Someone is obviously having a crack but only a few of the in progress sites are back with comms. News c/o the business insider link back up the page.
  34. Q

Picture of your Model Y - Right Now!

Is that the bastards ripping the badge off leaving adhesive or truly a dissolving badge? Stick a badge on your RWD and try to.sell it as a dual motor? Who does that? Over here they don't have the accent strip under. I might make.a vinyl one and see if I can fake it as I quite prefer the...
  35. Q

    Car charging vs solar panels

I was only being happy for you. I get the feeling if I had said "look who's making bank" someone would have come back with "not for ten years". Whatever.
  36. Q

Is there an alternative to Modern Spare?

I wouldn't take the chance. You have to be pretty strong to get it centered by hand while doing up nuts and it will be a lot kinder to the nuts having it near as dammit centered instead of using them to bring it in.
  37. Q

is this repairable or will it be totaled

Is the lid aluminum? It's all motorized on 'mine' so can't really tell how heavy it is. If it is steel there's panel beaters in sheds here that can fix the dent for relative cheapness. That may be worth your while avoiding insurance claim if the excess and loss of no claims are more valuable...
  38. Q

is this repairable or will it be totaled

If you include what happened to the other trunk shut lines we would have more of an inkling how bad it might be. Going between the lines of you only photographed the observable damage then it's a pretty low key repair. If the trunk lid is shunted into the roof it's a bit different but I would...
  39. Q

Life span for Continental ProContact Rx Tires

2.5mm is getting down man. You can run them right out but you have to be extra super careful in the wet because you aren't stopping any time soon. Depending on what your local traffic is up to that may or may not be feasible.
  40. Q

    Help adjusting coilovers

I feel your pain. There has to be a better way if it is taking so much driving for anything to be measurable.
  41. Q

    Help adjusting coilovers

It seems like the body is well flexible when you have put a 13.1mm skew into the rear by shifting the front around a relatively small amount. I am tempted to call it measurement error but I don't know enough about it to go there. A better plan at this stage may be to attempt to reverse the last...
  42. Q

    Help adjusting coilovers

Hmm. The numbers are very weird indeed! On the face of it I have no idea what is happening. On the other side of that is the happy fact that I don't need to for the maths to work! If you now drop the driver rear 9mm it will make the maths easier. Before you do that, are any of the corners...
  43. Q

    Help adjusting coilovers

I have never done anything like that but the above advice seems sensible. I really know very little about car suspensions but I have curious mathematical mind. Intuiatively I would attack it as what is known as an iterative process. You need to make one small adjustment, see what happens and...
  44. Q

Picture of your Model Y - Right Now!

That is a really smart combo. Could I trouble you for a shot closer range back and across the rear corner looking from slightly above please. Ie no wheels needed, spectacular as they are.
  45. Q

    Roof Sun Shade - recommendations?

The magnetic crew must have got cold feet. Very strange. They were pretty quick and definite in their intent to supply me, then nothing.
  46. Q

What's Going On With These Wheels?

Fake tan to go with fake nuts then.
  47. Q

    Car charging vs solar panels

Could you come out ahead by selling your peak power to the grid and charging at night? I think that is supposed to be how it works for bigger systems.
  48. Q

    Car charging vs solar panels

Who's a happy hamster then, charging the car for free!
  49. Q

What's Going On With These Wheels?

Looks like someone wanted silver wheel covers and did a poor job of painting black ones. They do look like they could be OE Model 3 covers. I would not expect a mess like that though.
  50. Q

Spare tire - Modern vs StanceMagic vs Tsportline

Potentially the post about three up front yours. 21's perhaps. The thing for you to do would be find out what you have for lug nuts on your car. Then ask Modern spares if yours fit their wheel, and if not have they included nuts for your lugs. Different aftermarket wheels have some odd nuts...
