Does it go fullscreen? These displays running androids all suffer from poorly polished UI. It shouldn’t be hard to auto start an app at launch on an android device.

Vendor ► APEX Wheels | 20" VS-5RS Sprint Line Forged Group Buy

First I'd like to say, I am fascinated with the design of VS-5RS. Having a 20 inch version is definitely welcome for people who like the looks of 20 inch wheels but hate the heavy stock Uberturbine rims. I was about to join the Gang then I noticed something: 20x9 and ET34 is exactly the same as...

Vendor GiroDisc 370mm Rotors for GM Brembo 6-Pot Calipers

I believe coming out the factory the logo is painted on top of the color coat then topped off with a clear coat. To buff it off you’ll have to buff off the clear coat at least. You then need to disassemble the calipers and powdercoat a clear coat, or you might as well just sandblast and redo the...

Anyone actually tested Unplugged vs MPP or Ohlins?

I agree with you said about the steering, coming from an f80 m3 with just coilovers but no bushings the i4’s steering feels familiar to me. My Model 3 has much better steering feel than my f80 even in stock form. The brakes are very sensitive, it will take a while to get used to, but all G...

Anyone actually tested Unplugged vs MPP or Ohlins?

Just drove the i4 M50 at BMW's autocross event yesterday, the suspension feels much more controlled than our pathetic stock suspension. The seats are more supportive than ours too, not M car's level of support but pretty good for a road car. I haven't had a chance to sit in a G8X with the carbon...

Except for going with double wishbone in the front instead of Macpherson on pretty much all other ICE competitors, much appreciated to Tesla.

Ohlins R&T Coilovers with Swift Springs!

I’d rather stay as close to standard as possible. Yes in theory I might be able to go 30% either way but by doing that I lose useable adjustments on the shocks. Now I’m getting used to the rear spring rates I don’t see the need to go softer. Considering redwood performance and mpp sport spring...

Ohlins R&T Coilovers with Swift Springs!

As I stated why I didn’t go for 9k springs, I didn’t want to go beyond 20% softer springs without revalving the shocks. I don’t mind the stiffness, the reason I wanted to lower the rear spring rates is because I felt the rears being noticeably stiffer than the fronts. As I’m getting used to the...

    Hardwiring a Radar Detector - 2022 M3P

Make sure you are tapping into the right wire, the radar detector still works perfectly for me, it should work for you as well unless they changed wiring during the same model year. I remember there was an orange wire that looked like a red wire, I almost made the mistake by tapping into that...

Ohlins R&T Coilovers with Swift Springs!

I haven’t installed the 10k springs yet. During the past week I’ve been debating whether I should install them because I drove my friend’s car with standard 11k/12k springs and I don’t think there’s a huge difference to my car, especially the rear end.

Vendor Redwood Motorsports - Official factory 'Road & Track' Ohlins kit release, pre-order, specs, RWMS Ohlins accessories, and discussion!

@stevehifi might do a better job at explaining this. I only estimated the thickness because when it’s on the car it’s sandwiched between the spring and subframe of the car, only showing a thin rubber lip, which is roughly 5mm thick.

Vendor Redwood Motorsports - Official factory 'Road & Track' Ohlins kit release, pre-order, specs, RWMS Ohlins accessories, and discussion!

Both @stevehifi and I decided to keep the top rubber isolators, it does not add 1/2 to 3/4 of ride height, it only adds 5mm or so. I kept the rubber isolators out right during install while @stevehifi removed them but put them back because there’s a slight noise going over bumps without them...

Ohlins R&T Coilovers with Swift Springs!

You do have a point regarding the location of the rear seat making it feel stiffer. I’ll try the 10k springs, if the dynamics disappoint me I’ll switch back. Fortunately the rear springs are easy to work with.
  16. Y

Ohlins R&T Coilovers with Swift Springs!

Completely agree with your point. Coming from a very tail happy rwd car I often find the stock model 3p tend to understeer. My 8/11 setup helps tremendously with understeer, at least the rear tires squeak first on throttle in corners lol. I believe 8/10 will work fine, even if it introduces a...

Ohlins R&T Coilovers with Swift Springs!

I did the same but with an 8/11k setup with some re-valving done to the front by 3DM. Prior to seeing your post I was pretty happy with my setup except no matter how I adjusted the rears I still felt the rears being noticeably stiffer than the front. I was thinking about switching the rears for...

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

I doubt 8/11 and 9/12 are much different. Your thoughts about your MCS is exactly how I feel about my Ohlins at current settings, 15 out of 20 clicks from full stiff. I changed the front settings to 12 this afternoon but wife refuses to go out for dinner tonight 😅.

8/11, I copied Redwood Performance spring rates
  21. Y

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

Hence why I went with Redwood Performance spring rates over standard Ohlins springs. I have no idea about the rear motion ratio on this car but telling from the geometry the rear springs should be considerably stiffer than the front, I don't get why Ohlins went for the 11/12k setup.

Vendor Ohlins - Road & Track DFV Coilover Systems - Spring into May Sale - 10% off all kits!

Just to clarify I only found the rears to be firmer than front at the same settings, but the springs on my car are different to standard R&T (8/11 vs 11/12) I kind of expect the rears to be firmer, I will change the settings in the front to compensate for that.

Exactly how they explained that they wouldn't touch the rears. I saw that post and have my wonders too... I'd say it's subjective how everyone think of the term "comfort". I am 6 feet tall and I always thought my wife who's 5'5 and another friend of mine are about the same height until my wife...

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

During writing the review I suddenly thought of the DFV tech and added that part to the review, placing it in the wrong place (heck it was midnight), making you think I am talking about the dampers in a corner. My bad it is. Also when talking about body roll in corners I am talking about...

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

Yes, in fact it's Tom@EAS's own Model Y. I felt bad for not buying Ohlins from him after the test ride and taking his precious time, but I needed the softer springs. As for Redwood Model Y kit, I have no information on the spring rates, I assume they are the same spring rates but I may be...

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

3DM told me the fronts need to be re-valved but not for the rears, they also gave me a 10% number in context to your 30%. The term "it can handle" is not equal to "it's optimized for". Worst case, I think a direct spring swap without re-valving will work fine as long as you soften your shock...

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

Guess who bought their research kit? :p Coming from a BMW with Ohlins R&T, I was pretty familiar with 3DM, so after I decided I'd go for Ohlins over MPP just for the sake of easy adjusting without jacking up the car and taking off the wheels, I gave 3DM a call. Fortunately they just happened to...

Vendor GiroDisc 370mm Rotors for GM Brembo 6-Pot Calipers

The overall piston area is 55.0cm^2, almost identical to stock M3P pistons. I agree with what you say, brake bias will shift forward a tiny bit but it wont affect anything. I'd seriously consider this choice if it were something like 60cm^2, then we might have to load wider front tires to...

Vendor GiroDisc 370mm Rotors for GM Brembo 6-Pot Calipers

What are the piston sizes of this caliper? Proper piston sizes needs to be considered to maintain brake bias. Stock M3P piston sizes are 4x 42mm, total piston area is 55.4cm^2, since max brake fluid pressure when brakes are applied stays the same stock vs bbk, braking force (which equals fluid...

    Hardwiring a Radar Detector - 2022 M3P

I did the hardwiring myself 2 months ago on my 2022 M3P without FSD, the 12V power (more like 15V as measured by a multimeter, doesn't matter) I am tapping into is the same as in this video: Running the latest software version right now (2022.20.6) it still works as intended: sit in the car...

Thanks for the input! This front lip reminds me of the cs lip on f80/82, comparing to other lips this one fits my oem+ philosophy better. I was worried because I also have vinyl wrap I don’t think double sided tape will hold up. I have no problem tapping screws into the bumper so this seems...

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

Rig I agree with what you said about the cost, that’s why I ask about for redwood spring rates. Based on my past experiences with ohlins R&T I find the spring rates to be too high. Knowing redwood is very compliant (to most Tesla people, no offense, as an f80 m3 owner I believe I have higher...

  42. Y

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

Yes I believe the earlier M3/4 variant were 90/210 (PN: BMS MP40), after lots of complains they released MP41 and later MR41 that adopted M2C variant springs (90/190, which I'm running right now on my F80). While being too stiff on the street, it doesn't perform that well on track either. IMO...

Ohlins R&T landing in the USA as soon as May

Do you have any info on redwood spring rates? On my BMW (F8x) platform many people replace stock Ohlins R&T springs (90/210k) with swift springs with lower spring-rates (something like 80/160 or so). Having Redwood spring rates for reference really helps set a lower bound for occasional track...

Raise Screen? [Any third party solution to raise screen height?]

Unfortunately I don’t think any vendor will release a product for that. If you’ve seen the install video of a swivel mount you’ll see the screen can only go lower unless you design a bracket that connects to the base, goes forward, then upward, then forward and connects to the screen. To make...

The car can get contaminated during transportation and parking before the delivery. A full wash + clay is highly recommended before you putting any kind of coating on. However I have used hydrosilex before, while easy to apply, I don’t think it will last longer than 2-3 washes. It feels more...
