Spare parts availability - 4 months and still no delivery date?

AKA the parts are there but you need to kick up a fuss to get one because otherwise service and repairs just isn’t high up enough in the scheme of things. Hell maybe it’s just a ploy by Tesla to make insurance companies write them off in the end so they can sell you a whole new car instead. Why...

    UK FSD Discussion

I imagine it’s probably complex trying to release in Europe as you’ve got the UN regulations that potentially stop Tesla’s FSD working. When training to drive based on human input, that’s not going to work if you have to put in limits around how quickly it can turn the wheel. The whole point is...

    UK FSD Discussion

I think the title of the law being the Automated Vehicles Act suggests that humans won't be involved in the driving. It'll allow the Robotaxi I guess to be legal here. I don't think we needed new laws to allow something like Tesla's current FSD to come here from a UK law point. It likely does...

    MG Cyberster concept EV roadster

The new Boxster will add another here but it's bound to be a lot more expensive than this also.

    MG Cyberster concept EV roadster

Agreed, won't be as efficient but I'm glad these kind of cars are being made as EV's to give us all more choice. Ultimately better battery tech will come and other improvements that will improve this over time but if we wait for all of that we'll be missing out on some nice cars in the mean time.

    Highland Rattle - URRGGH!

Interesting, hadn't considered that. Seems a bit of a design flaw if they let you move the seats so far forwards they can hit the sunshades and smash the mirrors. Still my wife's car occasionally picks my wife's profile when I'm in the drivers seat which gives me probably about 5 seconds to...

    UK FSD Discussion

No I don't have it, I was just joking that it's the law now yet it's still not been released to the UK ;) I suspect seeing as UK law suggests that real FSD will need need Tesla to insure the cars and drivers won't be responsible they'll have to go with another way to release it here that...

Spare parts availability - 4 months and still no delivery date?

Tip for the future, keep a smoke machine in the frunk and if the accident doesn't seem like it's a write off. Turn that on, the fire brigade will then dose it with a lot of water and now it'll probably be a write off from water damage ;)

Spare parts availability - 4 months and still no delivery date?

Only if they can sell them which judging by the amount of backlog they seem to be building up, isn't always the case. They've even cut their factory hours somewhat to reduce the amount of cars they make to stop building up too much stock. Hence you'd think they should be able to supply some for...

To be fair he does have a point. I’ve yet to see an end of the world kind of movie where they are running EV’s rather than trying to find petrol. Furiosa looks to be using a nice large supercharger on her car based on the trailers for the next Mad Max 😂

Yeah I checked my Tesla and no FSD 12 download yet 😂

    [UK] Spring Software Update

Yeah I think CarPlay is really good and Apple Maps is also. Far better than the initial release they put out and it’s one of the best now in my opinion. Still I think it’s pretty much a certainty they will never put CarPlay or Android Auto into the Tesla. There was a rumour a long time ago that...

    Highland Rattle - URRGGH!

Yeah I imagine it works well for younger kids. Older ones it might be a bit too low to be comfortable plus they’ll just be Snapchatting or whatever it is they use on their mobiles anyway. 😉 Still think it’s cool for climate control though or maybe controlling music. Think the latest update also...

I did see one video on this, mind sharing what one you got? Is highland the same for this is just older Model 3's?

    Highland Rattle - URRGGH!

An Ultra Red Long Range with 18inch wheels for maximum range. Screen protector guess makes sense, had been in two minds on that as I always hate putting them on new phones and the damn bubbles or bits of dust that always seem to get stuck in there. My kids are adults now, they know I love them...

    Fisker ocean - UK forum

Highly doubt that would be safe or be allowed by governments. They'd have to release the security keys for signing the updates to allow the cars to accept them. Once that's out in the wild, how long until someone finds a way to update the cars with some malicious kamikaze software update. The...

    Highland Rattle - URRGGH!

Ah glad you got it sorted and in a way good to know it's not some build issue somewhere, well other than Tesla not covering these vents up properly. Ordered some air vent covers myself ready for when I get my Highland in a few weeks also. Not sure if there's anything else that feels kind of...

    [UK] Spring Software Update

Yeah I have it but don't use it. It worked fine for me, like everything on Android I think it depends on the phone you actually have, some work better than others. However I just don't see the need for it so don't bother. Use an iPhone as my main phone though, seems again more beneficial as...

2024 Highland Model 3 - time for some accessories?

Indeed, people free to make their own decisions and seems this kind of thing is more popular in the USA, not for me either. I don't like the looks of overly lowered cars at all with stupidly oversized wheels. Hugely impractical as well.

You can run Android Auto in a Tesla by the way in a browser. Not quite as perfect but it does work, you just need an app like this one: TesAA for Android Auto

    [UK] Spring Software Update

I guess as long as they have the apps you use then all is good. So I use Apple Music which they added literally just before we got our first Tesla so that had me covered there. If say you use Amazon Music (Maybe coming soon) or YouTube Music then you are out of luck, have to use Bluetooth...

Yeah I think people don't realise how much cars depend on the servers that a company runs for them these days. It's not some classical car with zero to minimal electronics, the car heavily depends on those servers to work. This is a great example which to be fair shouldn't happen regardless of...

    [UK] Spring Software Update

I half agree, half don't on this. I think for an ICE, all cars should have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as they don't need a lot of integration between the navigation and the car's drivetrain but on an EV it's different. The nav needs to understand your driving style, your consumption and...

[UK] 2024 Order to Delivery discussion

They didn't email or text me to pay yet but noticed that they are ready to take payment in the app now. I sent them a £1 payment on Saturday which was confirmed today (Makes sense as not business days). It also shows the payment in the app so all nice and slick. Sent another payment, breaking it...

New MY Colours from today. Cherry Red and Quick Silver

Looks really nice. Kind of reminds me of BMW’s Individual Pure Metal Silver. No idea if they still do it but it was a £10k paint job when it came out, their most expensive colour.

    [UK] 2024.14.x

It might have banish / summon but to some more limited levels. I could get out of my Lotus in the UK and let it park itself but you have to hold a button in an app. Depends if Tesla implements that or just lets it go do its own thing with no way for a human to stop it. I suspect even in the US...

It does for maybe 20 - 30 seconds for us, once it's got the schedule it'll stop (Unless the time at the moment is in that schedule)

    Fisker ocean - UK forum

Yes if you can get the battery out and reuse it then it's a rather large capacity, that's got to be worth a reasonable amount.

    Fisker ocean - UK forum

Hard to say, you'd have to factor in the risk of how long it might run vs a possible unfixable fault with a component that cannot be sourced rendering the car scrap. I mean £5k seems fine if you figure you fancy the risk it won't break down in a year's time, far less than the deprecation you...

It's not but most are still on this however maybe in a week or two you'll update like the rest of us. They roll out in batches rather than all at once so just have to wait.

My wife also goes very close to the curb a lot. Most of the time she gets away with it but bot always ;) She struggles to understand the space needed for the car so on a tighter road with cars coming other way she's too far over. It'll still be wide enough to get a tank in the gap but not to her.

You'll need to learn how to complain if you want to pass your Life in the UK test to become a citizen someday. Also need to sharpen your sarcasm into a fine instrument ;) I said to a guy on a call from another country the other day "Hi, how are you?" as the normal greeting and he started to...

    [UK] 2024.14.x

I like looking at it as I guess lots of others do but also other than knowing if you have limited power or regen, it doesn’t really do anything useful. More a “Ooo, this hill is steep enough that I am charging the battery while maintaining my speed”. It’s the inner Nigel in me (If you remember...

Come on this isn’t true. They use machine learning to workout how quickly you seem to be getting on with the UI, along with the camera to check your level of puzzlement on the interface. Once they are comfortable you’ve worked it out, they ship you a new update where they’ve moved it all around...
