The OEM tyres that Tesla installed on the Model Y is much narrower than the rim.
It looks strange but I suspect its for efficiency reasons.
The OEM tyre is 255/34R19 104W. Hankook Ventus S1 evo³
The Gemini Rim is 19x9.5
Ive been playing with some tyre sizes:
A hypothetical 275/40R19 is slightly shorter by 7mm but wider by 20mm and speedo error: At indicated speed of 110kmh the actual speed is 109 kmh
A 275/45R19 is taller by 18mm and when indicated speed is 110kmh the actual speed is 113kmh.
Hankook Ventus S1 evo³ comes in this size but with an increased load and speed rating of 108Y
Any insights would be appreciated.
I'd imagine range would be negatively affected.
