Tesla’s solar roof tiles will be available for order in April, according to a tweet from CEO Elon Musk.
Tesla unveiled its solar roof product last year following the acquisition of SolarCity in a deal worth $2.1 billion. The vision for the combined companies is to leverage solar energy generation and storage products to power the home and electric vehicles. A roof using the panels will cost the same or less than a traditional roof without considering energy cost savings, Musk said when the product was announced.
