Tesla App unable to wake car since update

My car updated to 2024.2.8 a few nights ago, since then when it goes to sleep the Tesla app is unable to wake it up and it appears (given it didn't charge as scheduled last night) Octopus are also unable to wake it to start charges.

Octopus had scheduled it to charge at 1500 today, but it also did not start charging (Tesla app also not connecting to it), I went out and opened the door and it popped to life and charging started - fine for 3pm, not so good when its 2am! The car is parked where its been parked for 3+ years without connectivity issues - has anyone else suddenly started having this problem? Car wakes instantly when you open a door and the Tesla app is able to connect within seconds so I'm fairly certain its something to do with latest update rather than connectivity.

Might be worth checking the mobile network operators’ status near your location to see if a mast failure/incident has occurred. Since when the car is asleep sometimes only cellular comms can wake it first.

Could try force closing app and also restarting phone (in case mast identifier data changed recently).

They all seem to be working fine in area - have also disabled wifi to see if thats an issue.
Have you tried completely closing the App and then re-opening it.
Yep.

So update - something is defintley messed up, as it was charging at 1500,when it was awake, now 50 minutes later the Tesla app can't connect to it again and charging seems to have ceased.

Going to try the two-button reset again see if that fixes anything

Might be worth also trying a full power down by getting in, leaving driver door open, selecting Power Off, exiting car and closing door, wait 6 minutes.

That will essentially power off and on all car subsystems. Also check car’s WiFi is connecting properly afterwards.

My own S on 2024.2.8 lost its WiFi password after that software update.

did you set it to bump charge on Octopus? if not then Octopus probably stopped the charge and then it went to sleep again so back to square one.

You may not be aware but when the car is asleep what wakes it is actually an SMS message from Tesla. Seems like this wake up process is not working.
Could be the whole mobile system? having woken it can you communicate with it when not on wifi?

Either way. if a reboot does not work then raise a service request. It is probably a software issue as you say and they can probably fix it remotely though they will probably have to call you and have you wake it up first! If you leave it on Sentry mode that will keep it awake and so work as a somewhat expensive workaround. but if you are expecting Tesla to want to access it remotely and you want charging overnight to work that might be the best short term fix.

So the problem, whatever it was, seems to have resolved itself after a reboot :)

Nope, it was scheduled by Octopus to charge between 1500 - 1600 yesterday, but didn't wake, opening the door clearly woke it up and it must have received the command to charge from Octopus, it stopped at 1600 but then Tesla app wasnt able to communicate with it when I tried an hour later, so rebooted the car and it seemed to now wake up when opening the app. Charged ok last night so I will assume something from the update buggered something up :)
