Lowering the Tesla Model 3

I went straight to MPP Comfort Adjustables on my SR+. Later decided to do track days and am now running the MPP Sports suspension. The comforts were much more comfortable than stock despite feeling better, and the sports are way more controlled and comfort is at worst comparable to stock suspension. I can heartily recommend both as superior to lowering springs with the stock dampers; the stock dampers are the real culprit. I have the comfort adjustables for sale still if you're interested, forgot about them for a while so will do a good price to get them out of the garage.

I competent agree with your analysis, I wanted the lower look but comfort therefore picked the comfort coilovers. I have mine dialled nearly all the way to soft, but I do have on UPP sways also.

Of course mine is a Performance so the stock suspension in my view is crap.

Michael is honestly the best in the country for Tesla and very reasonably priced, he can even order in MPP or UPP (he does both) and then just pop in for a fit.
+1 Michael has been great so far! I wish Australia was smaller so I could recommend him to more people in driving range.

At the start I was looking for the same thing as you are now. The magic sauce is the MPP front lower control arm (FLCA) bearings. The comfort adjustables get the up and down sorted, but they have this vague turn-in until the voids in the FLCA bushings compress fully. It's quite evident in even mildly enthusiastic driving or traffic maneuvres. No NVH penalty.

Optionally if you find the firewall flex is surprisingly bad I can recommend a brake master cylinder brace. I'm pretty sure Hardrace do one in Australia now, otherwise you'll need to find one from a UK mob I can't remember the name of. I was happy with the feel of the factory pads and all the rest once that flex was gone.

It is weird there is not at least one workshop in Canberra looking to specialise in Teslas, at least that I am aware of. We have so many Teslas. I'd be surprised if it is not the highest market penetration in Australia.

Back on topic, I am still looking at just lowered springs at this stage. I get that coilovers are better from a performance perspective. I don't want to invest that sort of money in this car. UPP moderates or H&R seem like they would be best options.

UPP then I guess as at least they are dual rate springs.

Don’t go just springs, you’ll regret it. Get Coilovers, Mountian Pass are the best (look them up and you’ll see what I mean). Come to Melbourne and the chap I used will fit them in 2-3 hours and then drive back to Canberra.

I started with UP springs, hated the bouncy unbalanced ride, changed to coil overs and get a true lowered European feel.
Unless you're tracking your car, coilovers are excessive for street use. This is bad advice imo

You obviously have no idea...I am able to lower my car to any height I like (I don't have my car too low) but I am also able to soften the ride on both compression and rebound....I do not have coil-overs for tracking, I have coil-overs so I can have the car lower than stock but more comfortable than stock.

What is bad advice is putting in lowering springs with stock shocks being compressed permanently more than they have been designed for with less travelling than designed for.

I had UPP varible rated springs and found them horrible with a very hard ride and unpredicable in turns etc.
