Can you add a referral retroactively after delivery? [no]

My son bought a new Model Y very recently. I own a Model S. I checked to see if I could get a referral credit and my search showed the referral credit was only available with solar. Yesterday I received an email from Tesla discussing referral credit on Model Y purchases by friend or family. Has anyone experienced this and what did you do? Is there retroactivity available?

When I reached out to Tesla, they said that the referral codes couldn’t be retroactively added.

I recent purchased a new model Y. The sales person Sid told me the referral code was good and in the system. Well come to find out it was not submitted and my friend did not receive the referral. I reached out via the phone number I sent the referral code too and asked them multiple time to fix it. They have now told me to seek legal to get this resolved. No emails have worked for me as they seem to be not monitored. Does anyone have any suggestion. I think it is really frustrating for them not to fix this simple issue.
