Budget TPMS

Just purchased M3RWD two days ago for my wife to use as her daily driver. I don’t want to shred her tires, but I can tell you, especially with free supercharging for the first 6 months, I’d really like to hammer it and have some fun with some spirited driving. I read that rear tires (even on AWD models) shred faster. I understand flats happen, and while I can install a tire plug, if we destroy a tire, I’m stuck and will probably be paying $200+ for a tire and maybe even a tow. I’d prefer to have a spare tire at the house to be able to come rescue my wife. Two would be ideal so I can shred some cheap tires. It looks to me like I can get setup with two decent wheels and tires for about $360, but still need to add TPMS.

Anyone know if this stuff is a bad idea?

I can start to see how $1900 for a full set of winter wheels from Tesla isn’t that bad of an option ($850 for a pair).

Thank you! It looks to me like I can get the 2-wheel setup I’m seeking plus two spare wheels for $400-410 total. Do you know how much your friend wants, where they live, and if he’d be willing to sell just two wheels?

Thanks!
Mike

This is OT, but I just discovered that I already own a set of 5x114.3 64.1 bore wheels that I was going to try to get rid of after taking the tires for my ridgeline. They are only 17” AND have an offset that is 5 mm higher than stock, but I’d love to see if they fit and document it. They are from a 2004-2006 Acura TL. This would be all-the-more reason to get the cheapest possible TPMS.

Seeing that almost no 17” fit, I decided to buy the two gen1 refurbished wheels on eBay, but also noticed the link I provide above for $50 set of four Bluetooth TPMS is a zero-feedback brand new seller. eBay has decent protection as does PayPal, but I’m considering that likely a scam of some sort. TPMS via Tesla are $95 each. Ouch! Are those batteries in thos Bluetooth ones replaceable perhaps?

I found these:

I’m going to guess that these four 433 MHz ones are only good for models up to 2018-2019. Way too cheap at $35 for four.

Finally got around to asking. $100 per wheel. They are essentially brand new, including the tires and TPMS, with about 200 miles on them.
He would prefer all 4, but is ok selling just two.

Wow! I never would have expected someone to ask so little. Damn. That’s an awesome deal and would be less than I paid for the setup for just two wheels.

Where are they located? How can I pay for them?

My two budget TPMS finally arrived just before Xmas, but I’ve yet to mount the tires up and give them a try. Hopefully they work after all this time. AliExpress is legitimate even though it takes forever for their items to arrive in the US.
