Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
Reading through this thread and trying to prepare myself for what I believe to be a bad control arm. Started squawking as I backed out of the drive, and yesterday it got much worse at low speeds. Also creaks when I turn the wheel now. Car is a Model 3 - 2018 LR, and I do believe that I'm still...
In the end Tesla refused to honor the free lifetime connectivity. I argued with several people from Tesla but they just pointed to the text on the website (that didn't exist when I bought my used model 3 - I know because I saved a pdf of the site before they changed it) and said "well, that's...
There are trade-offs for every color. The best exterior investment I made was PPF on the front bumper and frunk. I can use my high pressure washer to blast the nasty bugs off in seconds without worrying about the paint.
I was tired of waiting for the cut files and I am SO glad I didn't put the wrap on. The plastic overlay is 100 times better. No messing with vinyl, just peel and stick them down. Takes 5 minutes tops. Looks fantastic!
I third this. Call Tesla and let them know you need this fixed immediately. I wouldn't hesitate letting a branch manager know that you are also seeking legal council. Don't wait, do this Monday morning.
Same here. I'm in that "weird group" myself with a used mid-2008 LR RWD Model 3. I'll still be on the fence if it's $2K for basic....instant buy if it's $1K.
Is it actually gone now, or does it say that it's going away in the car settings? I pushed back on this and was told that it is as they said: "free for the lifetime of the vehicle". And so it was restored on my car.
Nothing at all misleading about my post, at least not intended. My point was just as stated: With the screen on (not in sleep mode) and while streaming music, it will still provide enough charge to charge the phone all the way to 100%. We all know the limitations of wireless, that's understood...
While my current Taptes charger works perfect, launch after launch. Never moves a bit or loses connection. It also charges my iPhone to full with the screen on 100% brightness while streaming music via bluetooth.
Yeah, I did get into the car with bluetooth (I assume) but the brake pedal did nothing. The screen was off, no doubt about it. I pushed the brake, other buttons on the steering wheel, and tapped the screen. It was completely black and unresponsive until I put the phone on the charger. So odd...
Disclaimer: Love my 2018 LR RWD, best car I've ever owned.
So I was going to get some curbside pickup for dinner last night and like I always do I opened the app to warm up the car (live in the northern midwest). But the iOS app won't fully load and I can't select any of the options. The white...
This started happening to me on software 2020.8.3. I've had 2020.12.5 for 2 weeks or so now and it's still an issue. Disconnects once out of every 2-3 drives for me.
If you want a good deal on a used, silver PM3 I just saw this one:
2018 Used Tesla Model 3 Performance. Silver Metallic. White Interior. Enhanced Autopilot. 15,105-miles. $49,950. Round Rock, Texas
That's fear-mongering and completely misleading. You should avoid making uneducated guesses about one product over another based on something that "looks" more high tech. Nothing inside the taptes hub is going to overload or damage your Tesla.
Probably depends on the make/model. I'd be willing to bet I could get my asking price for my silver Model 3. But that said, I'd avoid a green Model S because....green? So yeah, I get it.
Not in states that salt their roads in the winter. My Prius is dark grey and it may as well be black in the winter. My silver Model 3 on the other hand, always looks clean.
I've worked with 3M vinyl for decades and I would NEVER recommend this as a good, long-term solution. If you plan on keeping your car you could paint it once and be done. Even the best 3M vinyl graphics have long-term limits. They will eventually fail, and then you have to pay $4000-$5000 to...
$22 each? Oof....yeah, that's a hard pass. I like the cleaner look of the hub and having the ports spread out and isolated. I hate fiddling with a splitter while trying to remove one of the plugged in devices.
Good review. Gets to the product details quick, stays on point and doesn't mess around with a bunch of fluff and filler talk. I get my charger and hub today so this was a huge help. Well done!
You can ask via a service request. I've done it a couple of times and they push the update to my car within hours. Did it yesterday and also received 2020.8.3. In the service notes from Tesla they said that I now have the latest firmware for my particular VIN. 2018 LR RWD Model 3.
Can't believe it? Hope your kidding because otherwise that is incredibly shortsighted and insensitive considering the current state of affairs worldwide.
A number of these vehicles are also $10-$20K less than a LR RWD Model 3. It makes sense that Tesla include it as standard, and it makes sense to offer it at around $1K for those early adopter Model 3 owners.
100% this. Also worth noting that now, 2+ years later with 2018 Model 3's, many other auto manufacturers include these basic features on their cars as standard. If it's $1500 I may consider it. If it's $1000, insta buy.
My first choice would have been to swap my Prius plates (03-K64) and put them on my Model 3. Not worth all the hassle so I got new plates for my Tesla. Her name is FIR3FLY.
"Everything goes somewhere, and I go everywhere." You can't stop the signal.
FIR3FLY
Because everything goes somewhere, and I go everywhere. You can't stop the signal.
(Also because my other car, a Prius, already has 03-K64 plates)
Interesting that the dongle works right out of the box on the Tesla but requires drivers for a PC. I love the idea of wireless, but I'd be scared that a Tesla software update could break the wireless connection. Maybe I'm being too whiskers about it.
Humble brag aside I will say that based on the feedback online Jeda's customer service is god awful. So, being an American company or not that $90 should come with stellar response times and product shipment updates IMHO.
I suspect that was the case. But, I swapped that controller for the Logitec F310 and it's working perfectly. My only gripe with the F310 is that it's a bit awkward if you have bigger hands. Feels like it was designed for an 8-year old. :/
I read several posts stating that this controller worked in the Model 3. It does not. I'm on software 2020.4.1. What I don't get is, how in the flying hell does it work on some Teslas and not others??
As soon as a game loads the coin button (asteroids, centipede, missle command, etc.)...
