Tesla Model 3 is crushing competition

I personally never realized how much money I spend on gas in a year with the amount of miles I drive, till i started looking into Teslas and actually did the math. About $2500 a year, not including maintenance, for a Jeep Renegade that cost me $26k. When I move up to a SR+, it'll be about the...

    RS+ vs LR battery size?

Hope this isn't too dumb of a question but just wondering, do all Model 3's have the same exact battery, and the software just tells it how much range & power to allow? Kind of like how the SR has less range than the SR+? If so, would it be possible to get a SR+ that costs a little less, and...

"Your Model 3 is coming with Full Self-Driving."

It will be fun seeing the media change their headlines over next decade or 2 from "OMG he crashed because he had autopilot on!" to "OMG he crashed because he was driving himself!"

"Your Model 3 is coming with Full Self-Driving."

Will cops still pull you over for texting while full self driving?

    Not missing this

I got an EGO snowblower 2 years ago and it works great. I was expecting it to be weak and underpowered but it'll tear through anything, light fluffy snow, thick slushy wet snow, even the big boulders the plows leave at the end of the driveway. Full charge gives me around 45 minutes and that's...

Who Agrees That The Model-Y Will Be a Hit!

thanks, and good point.. unless I hit the lottery the SR+ is the best I could do, and on a Y it might be a stretch and I might need to go with regular SR since it costs a little more. Maybe the M3 is the best way to go then, thanks :) I usually get a new car every 4 years or so, I thought about...

Who Agrees That The Model-Y Will Be a Hit!

I kind of have a dilema where I want to get Model 3 in the next few months, but would rather have a Y. Not going to buy a M3 and then trade it in 19 months later.. if I get the M3 now (SR+), I will get $5500 back in in state & federal taxes. Currently my trade in is worth about as much as I...

    Not missing this

haven't gotten my M3 yet but hope to in the next couple of months. Gas is climbing fast here, but not nearly this bad. Last fillup for me was just under $3 per gallon

City Council Candidate hits Model 3, then flees scene

looks like he's the one parked too close. Either way, that's no excuse for someone who's been driving for how many years now?

Pics of Model 3's in different colors?

That looks cool. I've been thinking I might like something like a dark gray/blue/slate kind of color. I've seen some people that turn the chrome black, but I think bright shiny chrome looks great with a darker color for the rest of the car.

Pics of Model 3's in different colors?

Anyone have a Model 3 that you had painted or wrapped in a color other than what Tesla offers? Not just a ceramic coating or whatever, but a completely different color than you normally see. Please share some photos if so, looking for some inspiration!

Would you join the Elon's Robo-Taxi Fleet with your Tesla?

I wouldn't use my own personal Tesla as a robotaxi, because people in general are slobs and I don't trust a complete stranger to not ruin something whether they are on camera or not, and also because cooties. But, that being said, if it was a worthwhile biz I would consider doing it like buying...

Beginning to Think that the M3 SR+ is the Best Choice - Here's Why

Yeah, the tax return is nice. Between state and federal if I can buy it before the end of June I'll get $5500 back. I think my only upgrade will be to get the gray paint. I like the idea of FSD but it just costs too much for me unfortunately. Also need to add in the cost of a wall charger and...

Beginning to Think that the M3 SR+ is the Best Choice - Here's Why

For me, for both price and features, the SR+ is perfect.. well, it could be cheaper. I've never owned a car over $30k, but since I've been shopping around lately it seems that's like the minimum for a good SUV these days. So I upped my budget to max at 40k, but don't want to go near that high if...

Implications for refunding SR+ to downgrade to SR

At this point for me the only reason I would move up to SR+ is for heated seats. If I go with standard SR now, is it possible to upgrade to just get the heated seats, but not the other things that come with +? I won't miss them now but in December I'll be wishing my butt was warm.

    PA State Inspection?

Cool let us know how it goes. I didn't think about using a dealership, i always thought they'd be snooty about working on cars from a different company. Still haven't ordered mine, will probably have to wait till the end of May or early June. I'm in the pottstown area, there's a nissan dealer...

Working the best deal on a model 3 AWD Long Range in Black

Yeah there's no haggling (which I love) .. however many folks have said if you call the sales dept, you can see if they have any demo/test drive cars available for sale. Those are slightly used and some people have been able to save a few thousand that way depending on the milage.

More Model 3 changes and leasing now available

Is this going to effect the Model Y at all? Like weren't they planning to have the same base standard range? Also noticed on the MY preorder page they are still listing the long range rear wheel drive as an option

How many Teslas you see a day?

Driving to work in the philly suburbs, through some more well-to-do areas, I usually see around 2-4 each day. I'm tempted to wave at them, even though I don't own one yet. Probably more on the highways, but i take back roads since our highways are glorified parking lots in the morning.

Used Model S vs New Model 3?

Thanks for all the info .. missed that review before. I'll test drive both if I can .. but I think now I'm probably better off sticking with the M3, I really need that tax credit to make it affordable for me. if I can swing it I might try and add normal autopilot, but don't think I could afford...

Used Model S vs New Model 3?

So it looks like about the best I could afford is a Model 3 SR+, plain black no autopilot or anything, unless I win the lottery or something. I would have liked to have been able to get the long range with autopliot but that's likely just going to be too expensive for me. Looking around, it...

LR RWD vs LR AWD Revisted - Range vs Winter Performance

I have also been having trouble deciding between LR and AWD, but I am leaning toward just LR now mostly for the slightly extra range. Here in Philly we get a fair amount of snow sometimes, but even with my current SUV I rarely drive to work in it unless the roads are clear anyway. And my M3 will...

    My red bumper doesn’t match!?!?

Cool . I was considering red or white, but was also wondering if for the price they want for their paint jobs, if I'm better off just getting black and then having it painted or wrapped for a similar price, then I could pick any color under the sun. But then, I'm lazy, so I'd probably...

    My red bumper doesn’t match!?!?

Is this just an issue with the colored options? If I just stick with basic black will it all match?

    PA State Inspection?

OK thanks! When I buy my M3, will it already have the sticker on it for the first year at least? Or will I have to take it out for inspection right away? Don't wanna get pulled over right after I buy my new car :)
  29. T

    PA State Inspection?

So here in PA we have to get an emissions test for our cars every year. Since there's no emissions in a Tesla, do they still need a yearly state inspection? I imagine the government is gonna want some money no matter what car we drive. If we do need it, can it be done by any mechanic or would it...

    Heavy/Obese drivers - Model 3

I was worried about this too, I'm around 5'9" and 350 lbs. I can squeeze into my current Jeep Renegade just fine. Planning to test drive a M3 in a couple weeks, and if I feel too cramped I may hold off and wait for the MY.. hoping the 3 will work for me though, I'd like to take advantage of the...

Non Tesla EV charging at supercharger?

I think Tesla's superchargers SHOULD charge other EVs. I think it would be a big help toward getting more people interested dropping their ICE cars if they know there are more and better options to charge them, especially if they live in areas that don't have many options. Maybe Tesla could make...

    Snow tires for RWD

Maybe I just brainwashed myself from driving SUVs for the last 20 years. I always feel like it's stupid to go anywhere in the snow without all 4 wheels going. When I was in Alaska and I saw people driving little cars I was like "Are they crazy? it's Alaska!" But I actually don't drive in the...

    Snow tires for RWD

If you get winter tires, do you just need a pair for the rear wheels, and leave the normal tires on the front? Or is it best to have all 4 match?

    Insurance costs?

I have a perfect driving record and no accidents or anything, so I think my rates are pretty good. Currently I'm slightly over $1000 per year for my 2015 Jeep Renegade, but I kind of went for the lowest options I could find (Progressive). I'd like to have some better coverage for my M3 so I'll...

    Insurance costs?

I haven't ordered my Model 3 yet, but I was curious .. someone I was chatting with says that Teslas and other EVs have higher insurance rates. The liability is cheaper with all of the safety features, but due to all the expensive tech and sensors everywhere, the costs to repair are way higher...

    Wall charger inside, car outside?

Cool, I'm out in Pottstown actually. A little colder than philly but not by much. I watched a video talking about the cold weather, I figured what I would do is tell it to start warming up the battery when I get up in the morning. Usually takes me an hour or so to get ready take care of the...

    Wall charger inside, car outside?

Cool thanks for the photo. I imagine my setup will be similar. I decided I don't want to run a cable under the garage door, I don't want to risk messing it up over time. We have 3 cars for 3 people, but a 2 car garage. Since I'm the one that doesn't work from home it's just easier for me to park...

    Wall charger inside, car outside?

Is the 14/50 socket the big kind you need for a dryer? Will it charge as fast as a wall unit? I was hoping to keep a 3 prong cable in the frunk at all times so if I'm ever out anywhere and need a charge and that's my only option at least I can get some juice that way. I'm still totally new with...

    Wall charger inside, car outside?

thanks i'll look for that old post. I'd have to squash the cable under the garage door pretty much every day. Maybe I'll try and stick a broom stick there and test it and see if it leaves a big gap, just don't want to leave room for mice to get in. I'd never hear the end of it if we got mice...

    Wall charger inside, car outside?

Thanks, our garage door metal part doesn't touch the ground, it has a rubber bottom so I assumed the cable could run under that.. but at the same time I wouldn't want to have it make an opening big enough for rodents to squeeze in. Maybe the outside would be better, was just worried about...

    Wall charger inside, car outside?

I'm thinking of getting a model 3 (or maybe Y?) likely the SR or SR+. Is it safe to leave a Tesla plugged in using a wall charger inside my garage, but run the cable to the car outside under my garage door.. and charge 24/7 in rain, sleet or snow? Unfortunately my garage is full and I have no...
