Model Y RWD is now long range (May 3) in the US

Not sure if this is a mistake or newly available configuration, but was browsing the Tesla website and saw this. It seems to be the SR RWD US version which now has the software unlocked for the full 2170 battery pack capacity.

2024 US model Y rwd battery type and size

Also, double check that you were using a V3 Supercharger which supports max charging of 250kW vs V2 Supercharger that supports max of 150kW (although my old Model X 90D would only pull 148kW max at V2 chargers and could do 165kW at V3 locations).

The free supercharging miles is located under “Charging” sub-menu when you go to the “Hamburger-Menu” on the top right. I too got 10,000 free supercharging miles that expires in 2 year’s time. I transferred Free SUC from my traded in car, so now I’m wondering how I can use these miles (or how...

I took delivery on 3/15 and transferred both FSD and Free SC from my December 2016 car. When I did the delivery acceptance in the app on delivery day, I immediately received two different emails detailing FSD and Free SC were transferred successfully from [old vin] to [new vin]. The new car...

Expired N2itive camber arms (new in box) for 2021+ Model S for sale in Dallas [Expired]

I know it is "lifetime" if you purchase from N2itive. The issue is - is there any fine print that the warranty is only for the initial purchaser?

Expired WANTED: Set of TPMS for 2016 Model X Silver 22” Wheels [Expired]

I just traded in my pre-refresh Model X and took out the sensors from my extra set of wheels - sensors from those wheels were used for 3 years and 22,000 miles so the batteries in them should still be good.

2023 X with USS any disadvantage

USS is usually referring to the Ultrasonic Parking Sensors that got deleted when Tesla wanted to save costs in late 2022. These parking sensors are visible as little circles on the bumpers just like many other luxury cars have them. All modern Tesla models used to have USS Parking sensors and...

2019 MX 6 seater - Rear AC not nearly as cold as front when set to auto?

Yes, I had the same experience with my X a few months ago. I manually set the rear temp to "LO" and fan speed to 2. Probably unrelated but the AC eventually stopped working on my X and the service center replaced the Evap Expansion Valve and Chiller unit. Since the replacement, I've left things...

MCU 1 slower after eMMC replacement - anyone else finding this?

Hello fellow unicorn owner! I have a very very similar to you (late-2016) Titanium colored Model X 90D with AP2. I upgraded to MCU2 when I had the FSD computer installed due to reading about the eMMC failure and the very sluggish combination of FSD computer + MCU1. The car feels like new again...

    Suspension Display, pre-Raven

Suspension menu text is misaligned as well. I have a 2016 X with MCU2 and HW3 computer upgraded. The 2021.24.3 update must’ve broken the text alignment on the UI.

    My 90D 100%

Yes, I should charge it up to 100% and discharge down lower to go through the calibration process. The problem is that I don’t drive enough these days to be able to time departing at 100% properly, nor do I drive far enough to discharge it down below 10%… never thought I’d say it, but these...

    My 90D 100%

I’m at 45K miles on my X90D and the last time I charged to 100% showed 238 miles. I’ve been babying the battery (keeping it between 50-70%) since I started working from home in March 2020 due to the pandemic. So hoping that it’s just a calibration thing because I don’t charge to 90% very often…

Question about P90D with Hardware 2.0

My unicorn is closest to yours (90D made in December 2016) and it has AP 2.0. For the P models, I believe there was a period where you could elect to buy the P90D or pay more money for the "range upgrade" to a P100D. It was a very brief time until most of the 90 kwh packs were gone. It is...

Could new Yoke Wheel be retrofit to back models? And would you want to?

A big reason they wouldn't be able to retrofit to existing models might be regulations (crash test ratings may be invalid with such a change). There was a period back in 2016 when Tesla briefly retrofitted P85DL cars with the new-at-the-time 90 kwh battery packs and turned them into P90DL. If I...

Major 2021 Model X refresh pending [Update: Unveiled January 27, 2021]

When the Model S first came out in 2012, it did bust many “legacy automobile ergonomics” such as no-start-button, touchscreen-for-most-functionality, walk-away-lock, etc. Those were arguably revolutionary changes for the better. Then the X came out in 2016 with the auto-presenting doors and...

    Honda blindspot camera

This feature and birds eye view when parking! Both features that are available on much less expensive cars can’t come soon enough. I was hoping the holiday update contained these but instead we got more games and fancy noises (if your newer Tesla is so equipped with external noise-making devices).

Steering is almost stuck and very hard like rotating heavy farm machinery all of a sudden

I had this happen on my December 2016 Model X (also just outside the recall window). Service Center diagnosed and said the steering rack was rusted. FWIW, I drove the car during a rain storm home, parked in the garage, and went on vacation for a week. Came back to stiffer steering and thinking...

Major 2021 Model X refresh pending [Update: Unveiled January 27, 2021]

and then imagine trying that same maneuver 5 years from now when the touch screen has been slowed by updates and memory within it worn out by excessive logging. wha, too soon? Honestly, mostly disappointed in the range reduction and next by the steering...thing. Ventilated seats coming back is...

Tesla website indicates 22" wheels impact range by ~12%

When these Pirelli Scorpions are worn, I'm throwing the 20s back on. The 22s look great but the efficiency hit is too much in the real world (especially on a 90D like mine). With it being winter here (in the southern US no less), I'm getting 450-500 wh/mi at the start of each day's first drive...

2 errors : Acceleration and top speed reduced, vehicle may not restart

I had the same issue on my late 2016 Model X days before the warranty expired. My issue also occurred after supercharging (specifically after the car preconditions the battery for supercharging). Turned out it was my battery heater as well. I think originally, these cars did not precondition...

Side repeater camera view in Instrument panel when signaling a turn.

Yes! I figured that out the other day and it’s been super helpful when lane changing in the X, but you can also tell the UI was designed for landscape screens in the M3/MY. The side views are a little small and hard to read at quick glance on MS/MX. Showing the respective side camera in the IC...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

My MX 90D went from MCU1+AP2.0 to MCU2+HW3.0/FSD. I haven’t noticed anything different regarding regen. I think the stronger regen and the “regen to brake hold stop” requires Raven upgraded front motor; I believe the permanent magnet motor in Raven cars and M3/MY doesn’t suffer efficiency loss...

Tesla Model X vs Lexus 450h

Green’s evaluations and notes are more objective and covers the pros as well as the cons of Tesla vs other ICE cars. Tesla Model X vs Lexus 450h

You said fortunately price difference isn’t a big issue...so get both: Model X for the tech and torque and RX450h for the reliability! Kidding aside, I have a GS350 and Model X. Both are amazing but the Lexus has been to service fewer times than the Tesla even being a 2013 vs 2016. Lexus...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

@Buzzbu, I submitted the request on 5/20 for a 6/8 initial appointment date. Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Agree 1,000%. I just had my Dec. 2016 Model X done at the Tesla Alpharetta, GA service center today. While the cost of the upgrade felt steep, I only needed to remind myself to compare the MX against the wife's Lexus GS350. The Lexus will never ever have an OEM-approved upgraded infotainment...

    Used 2016 Model X 90D Purchase Log

I have pretty much the exact same car as you (December 2016 Model X 90D w/ 22-inch silver turbines). The 90 pack (even the V3 90 pack in our cars from late 2016) probably won't have the legs to do a 190 mile trip at highway speeds without charging especially not in the winter. I averaged...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

As MCU1 + AP2.0 FSD car owner, I'm also thinking of waiting a bit on this. While I appreciate Tesla coming through on Elon's Tweet from 2 years ago, this right now just seems like Tesla offering AP2.0 FSD owners the "privilege of getting HW3 immediately/quickly" for $2,500 when these first...

    HW2 vs HW2.5+ camera differences?

I read on TMC somewhere previously (probably that very long 140+ page MCU1 to MCU2 upgrade thread) that the cameras between AP 2.0 and AP 2.5 / AP 3 vehicles are the same sensors. It's just that the AP 2.0 cars had a different set of filters (black-white-red) and AP 2.5+ added an additional...

AP/HW2 Vehicles Receiving AP/HW3 Retrofit! (says my SC :/)

The SC probably are reading “HW2 vehicles” as any car that has newer-than-AP1 hardware and not distinguishing between AP2 or MCU1+AP2.5 or MCU2+AP2.5 or MCU2+AP3. This just shows Tesla is a ways away from equipping service centers from upgrading all the earliest adopters of FSD back in 2016...

You are my hero, thanks for the video links! Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

I really agree that having dashcam along with built in TeslaCam and Sentry Mode is the best way to go. Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

No visualizer could have impact on regulation certification or any accident where the driver didn’t know AP failed. This is especially important during the gradual march to L5 autonomous driving. Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Ah ha, thanks for the info. This actually means Tesla likely will have to offer an MCU1 to MCU2 upgrade because it is a required item for FSD paid cars, so they might as well offer the upgrade as paid upgrade for non FSD cars and make some money in the process.

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Hardware wise, verygreen (well known Tesla tinkerer) was able to get the AP3 computer into his MCU1 car and he had cones rendered. Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

I agree with you, and as someone who also owns a late 2016 car with FSD pre-paid, I personally find it most frustrating that people who purchased FSD on later cars have had their AP computers retrofitted. The retrofitted cars are now benefiting from FSD starting via the “FSD preview update” and...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Maybe Tesla AP team specifically hard coded extra caution (brake slamming) due to the first AP1 fatality crash in FL several years ago. When will all '16 MX 90D warranty's expire?

Yes, definitely after the Month/Year printed on the door sticker but it could be several months after the printed date. My X90D was manufactured in 10/2016 but delivered in late December.
  48. K

When will all '16 MX 90D warranty's expire?

Usually (at least for other luxury car brands) warranty starts on date of first delivery or initial miles at delivery. So for Model X, following that logic, it would be date of first delivery + 48 months or mileage on initial delivery + 50K miles whichever comes first.
